I remember 5'9 Wabissa Bede as a Merrimack Valley 8th grader with a big dream and yet a bigger heart. Today, the Virginia Tech PG begins plays in his final NCAA tournament (12:15 pm CBS). He will leave VT in 4 years with a Masters degree ready for a D1 coaching career. Dream big! pic.twitter.com/J9H0enmL3c— Rivals Nation (@RivalsNation) March 19, 2021

People love to complain about him but he's been a really steady hand the last few years. We could have done a lot worse the last few years, hopefully he is back as a GA.
I hope he has success in his next adventure. Team guy.
He once scored 47 points in high school? Wtf?
I'm not sure this is counting his ability to play one more year. I'll expect him to return as a backup PG until he says otherwise.
Sounds a lot like Donald Corker in the early 90s, guy had a 30+ PPG average in high school then became a defensive specialist at VT
Sounds also like Dennis Rodman, who averaged nearly 26 and 16 in college but never even averaged 12 PPG in the Association. (Kept the rebounds though.)
Masters in 4 years is impressive, unless he wants another one should definitely move into coaching and start getting paid if he has no chance at being a pro
He could easily be a pro but it would be somewhere else and it probably makes more sense to be a GA now and move on to coaching if that is his future.
I watch a lot of european bball on beinsports extra, the free channel on pluto tv. He could easily play in europe.
Based on CMY comments, I believe he is interested in coaching. Hope he ends up as our GA next year.
He's gonna be a damn good coach. Best of luck, Bede.
Bede was the right guy at the right time for us. He had the impossible task of trying to replace JRob during a time of a coaching transition and kept our program running at a high level. His game should always be remembered fondly and if his next stage is to join our coaching staff, then we are going to be incredibly fortunate to have him for the long haul.
^^^This. I think we can do better than Bede going forward (i.e. get a player who is more of an offensive threat) but his agreeing to stick around was huge and should not be understated. Like you said, he kept things running smoothly and at a high level while the transfers and kids developed.
Bede was the connective tissue that held the program together when Buzz split and CMY was desperately trying to field a team. There have been and will be better athletes/players to wear a VT jersey but Wabissa Bede was the hero that we needed from April 3, 2019 to today.
Remember when he was the only scholarship player we had on the roster after Brent left? Guys stuck it out and is a true Hokie.
You're at 25 and I didn't want to mess with that. Have a leg

We rag on him a lot and offense isn't his strength, but he's a gamer and a fantastic defensive player. I hope he's our GA. He'll be a great defensive teacher. A great hokie. VT basketball future is HUGE!
Best of luck to Bede on whatever his next move is. But hope to continue to see him on the sidelines as a GA.
