Nice, hope to see everyone on a roster at least for camps and if nothing on the extended practice squads
I thought Farley was having back surgery and wasn't participating?
Maybe interviews.
Bitter just added
If anyone wants to watch this, it "will be beginning shortly" on WatchESPN. You'll have to have some kind of TV subscription that gives you ACCNX, but if you wanted to watch it happen live you can.
edit: The feed is now live, but nothing is happening. I expect it will start around 12:30-1pm.
What do I search for on their app?
On the app you can click the search bar in the top left corner and type "pro" and it will come up.
Apparently Hulu isn't an authorized network.
What kind of expectations should we have to see Herbert drafted? I havent heard much on his end about where they expect him to go.
I expect him to be a mid round pick barring a 4.3 or something. His biggest hurdle is simply the devaluation of RB in terms of draft value and replacement level stuff. I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't get drafted though.
Hewitt tore his Pec mid benchπ
That sounds less than ideal
Diablo ran a mid 4.4π
Hit 34 on the vert too!
Sucked to keep seeing him slip out on the shuttle drill though
Yeah but his stock is still going through the roof
No doubt, really good pro day for him
I don't remember which game but I remember one of the color commentators this season saying something like "Deablo may not be the most athletic but he is smart and a leader". I remember not really agreeing with that analysis and feeling vindicated now lol.
Herbert hit a 4.4 as wellπ€
Now we play the waiting game! Good showing from both guys. I expect both will hear their names called in the draft.
Andy says their was audible buzz about Divine. Looking like maybe 4/5 guys get a draft day call π€
That would be fantastic for them. Here's hoping that happens and that VT leverages the success on draft day on the recruiting trail
This ^
Do we have numbers for the other players or were they the only two actually working out?
Theres other players. These where the main 2 tho
Those were only two using official NFL "combine" stuff because those two and Farley and Darrisaw were only ones invited. Others will be using "unofficial" "pro day" numbers which might or might not get released.
Deablo will go higher than projected. Juice is questionable due to the position. But both guys had excellent days.
Herbert and Deablo are both about 0.10 faster in the 40 than I would have guessed. Saw both of them as 4.55 types. Fantastic!
Little home cooking I suspect. 40 numbers have been really low all over the place this year
Both of them have "official" nfl times also since this was their combine.
Times from Pro Days are almost always done by pro scouts so there's really not an opportunity to skew numbers
Yeah but you didn't factor in VTs engineering department that surely knows how to create a wind vortex to speed up our players!
Deablo would be a first round pick if Al Davis were still alive.
I can dig it, we definitely need secondary help
Seen some mocks with Farley down in the late teens now as the 3rd CB off the board.
Jaycee Horn is a hot "draft twitter/discourse" player right now. I still think Farley will be the 2nd, possibly 1st corner off the board. Either way, I don't really care though because I just want to see my man get that 1st round contract. While obviously there is a money difference in different parts of the 1st round, he's set for life if he is smart with his money with any first round contract.
edit: If anyone was curious, here is N'Keal Harry's 32nd pick contract from the 2020 draft.
You can turn a $5.3m lump sum into an income to that could last you a lifetime given your level of personal financial knowledge/understanding of various investment vehicles. Even if someone has zero financial literacy, you can give that to an advisor and lose ~1% on it annually, and they can do the same for you without the personal time/stress of handling your investments. That's assuming you never play a single down or collect any of the rest of that 4 year contract (somehow). Realistically, you wouldn't even have to do that because you likely have other professional goals that provide you with income to live off and you can invest that money more aggressively, with a focus on an early retirement, use it to start a business that has higher financial barriers to entry, etc.
That's really dependent on what the team is going to do.
Last year, the 32nd pick was Clyde Edwards-Helaire with a $5.4M contract over four years, plus a $5.4M signing bonus.
It's going to depend on the team, position, and pick #.
10.8 over 4 with included 5.4m signing bonus is basically exactly what Chris described, just that he said NKeal Harry was 2020 instead of 2019
$5.3m lump sum
I believe there's a little thing called taxes that will knock a large portion of that out however.
na, its the agent fees that get you.,
Of you invest directly to a retirement plan, wouldn't the taxes be deferred? They are still gonna get you, but not at the same rate a plop would.
Up to the maximum of $19k for a 401k would be deferred. NFLPA dues and agent fees should be tax deductible. Training, fitness, nutrition, body maintenance should also be tax deductible since their body is their business. Still not much of that 5million would be tax deferred/deductible.
Yeah, but you could still invest a portion of it in tax advantaged mutual funds that will reduce the taxes on the income. Let it sit and start to work for you.
Definitely not a good look. VT football continues to prove it has a PR problem. Which is weird because it seems like every other social media account run by VT athletics is killing it.
This is sad.
I mean maybe theyre referencing their first rounders?
just feel the need to chime in here that @herbert_szn isn't khalil herbert
Yep. Sorry for any confusion. Probably should've just embedded the OP tweet.
good to recognize that. Also, the point still stands.
the point still stands, but when you have morons on Twitter using the Herbert Szn tweet as evidence for why former players dont feel welcomed by the program blah blah blah i thought it useful to try and head off similar confusion here
Even if that isn't Herb's account, that's still bad.
I'm so tired of Pete stepping in shit all the time on Twitter. Someone needs to take that account away from him and let someone else run it. Its just a clown show at this point and rarely does anything to put our best foot forward.
Which is absurd when our basketball account kills it regularly.
And it gets worse each time he tweets stupid stuff. At this point even if he tweets something that really isn't bad, people are going to take it the wrong way because the odds are that if he tweets more times than not it hasn't been good.
Oh absolutely. He deservedly lost the benefit of the doubt a few years ago. Like, I really don't care what he tried to mean by some of these things, he's said and done so many stupid things through that account over the years that it just doesn't matter anymore.
At first, I didn't see the NFL tweet, so I thought it was in reference to first rounders. The NFL tweet is for the draft in general, so we fucked this one up.
Someone in the 247 comments recalled a time or two in which KH stepped on the sideline on the way to the house, negating some TDs. They wondered aloud if the extra toe was to blame, and I think they might have a point.
