Could we switch off QBs next year like Oklahoma did this year?

They switched off Trevor Knight and Blake Bell nearly every game and they are in a BCS Bowl. Could we do the same with say Durkin or Ford with Leal or who knows maybe even Motley and Leal? OU had a lot of success doing it, and I was wondering if maybe Tech do the same?

If Tech uses a two quarterback system and gets close to ten wins it'll be despite the rotation, not because of it. I don't believe in two quarterback systems and I don't believe in "playing the hot hand". You work your men out during the offseason and see who wins the competition.

If you can't decide during practice which one has earned it, then play the one with the bigger upside.

While I generally agree with this wholeheartedly (let's take a moment and laugh at UVA.........

Ok, we're good), I could definitely see us doing something with Durkin like what Duke did this year with Connette in short-yardage situations. A guy who might not be as polished a passer, but still useful as a runner and a threat to dump it off off of playactions.

10 wins???? I don't see us getting to a bowl next year, and people are talking about 10 wins? We will be worse on offense and defense than this year.

something in the water down there in sakerlina has gotten to you...do you really think we'll struggle to get to a bowl game?

The only game I didn't list was OSU..obviously we would need a pretty incredible off season to have a chance in this game...but the rest of our schedule sets up REALLY nicely for a trip to a bowl game. Do I think we'll win all 11 of the games I listed? No, realistically, probably not.

Do I think we'll lose 5 of them? Definitely not. Our O-line should be much improved. Our RBs should be better. We'll have a lot more talent at WR and I think Moorhead proved himself as a good coach. We'll have Malleck and Cline back and they'll have some freshman relief (if needed). Sure we're losing some personnel on D but when has Bud Foster NOT reloaded on D? We might not be top 10 every single year, but for the last 2 decades our defense has been in the top 25 most of the time. That is a pretty damn good track record.

With an entire off season to work the coaches should make significant strides on Offense. The players should be more comfortable after a full year in the system plus more time in camp. I seriously doubt we need to worry about going bowling next year. Remember, we're in the ACC...it's not exactly a gauntlet.

Yeesh, a little early for doom and gloom, ain't it? We're a full 3 days removed from the season. Let's give the coaches a chance to coach and see what we've got at least after spring practice.

I mean I'M not even THAT doom and gloom, and I've been pretty open about my unhappiness with the program.

Me, I say that the offseason is no time for doom and gloom. Hope springs eternal. It especially springs eternal when things are legitimately looking up.

i'm not sure he or she has ever posted anything positive.

We'll get the minimum 6-wins required to appear in a bowl next year, of this I'm certain

we didn't exactly switch them off every game but we did a 2 QB system with Taylor and Glennon. I seem to remember Frank taking some criticism from the media for the move early in the season but after we got 10 wins they changed their tune a bit. I don't think it's something that Loeffler would do. He doesn't seem like the type of OC/QB coach who wants to employ 2 QBs in one season unless he has to (injury). I think Leal will start at the top of the depth chart and he'll have to fight for his job. I honestly have no idea who might start for a majority of the season but I have my suspicions that it won't be Leal.

The fact that we had better talent all-around (especially in the Receiving Corps) helped out a lot that year. That and Classic Beamerball was still in full force.

I can definitely see Loeffler going to a 2 QB system, most likely with Leal and Durkin. I can see Durkin handling things in the red zone and some short-yardage situations out of a spread formation. This would limit the playbook for him and force other teams to prepare for both a spread running attack and a pro-style offense.

I think an copy of Duke's offense is what we might see next year.

Would this 2 QB system be because both QBs are so good they deserve to play? Or be because both QBs are so terrible we keep switching? Not all QB systems are equal

The Dude Abides

Ugh. We did this with Randall and Vick 5. The problem always seemed to be when they switched. Randall would get hot, Vick comes in and kills the momentum. Vick gets hot, Randall comes in and kills the momentum. Always better to pick dude and go with him.

Its stupid to have a rotation period. SL will pick 1 and stick with 1. That's how he rolls. There will be a fierce competition this spring for the job. That whole tyrod/glennon thing was a debacle. I absolutely hated that

OU just solved their QB rotation tonight. Homeboy is lighting up Alabama.

The Dude Abides

I know they said that same qb was completing at 50 percent all yr and tonight hes around 70

I don't think Stoops wanted the rotation to happen. Bell was the guy at the beginning of the year, and by the end of the season, Knight was mature enough to start consistently so Stoops stuck with him.

Knight also got hurt, which didn't help his case.

That too

Somebody may have mentioned this already, but was Loeffler at UF when Leak and Tebow slapped the shit out of tOSU in the NC?

Unnecessary. Funny, but unnecessary.

Whatever it takes to win! I can,t believe motley is that much worse than leal. I think it will be motley and durkin.

Oklahoma switched QBs out of necessity. Knight was injured against WVU. Bell took over for a while then was injured against Iowa State. Knight got his job back then was hurt again against Oklahoma State. They didn't do much switching in games.

I heard that a rumored transfer QB has been going around the team, JC hinted at it a few days back. My guess is it could be Tyler Murphy (Loeffler was his main recruiter at Florida) but we'll see.

In Sam Rogers we trust.
