So we have heard some of the openings filled (Strong to Texas) and rumors (Golden to PSU). But this is the part of the season I hate. Why? Because we could lose what we want to keep. Louisville is now looking for a coach. Could Bud be a consideration? What if PSU isn't looking at Golden.
Just seeing some solid programs open up, always makes me nervous, and it won't be ending any time soon.

I'm not too worried about Bud foster. But I'm concerned about Moorehead , He's been a true Hokie since he came here and one Heck of a Recruiter and Coach.
Louisville is the type of place that would take a chance on Bud.
Yes they might lose another great former DC soon. Bud could would should jump at that job but I don't know if the ACC rivalry with Beams would work
Saw somewhere that Louisville would go after Cutcliffe if Strong takes the Texas job.
That would really surprise me. Not that I don't have a hell of a lot of respect for Cutcliffe but he ain't no spring chicken, and part of Strong's strength was connecting to the team and bringing them together. Again not saying Cutcliffe can't do that, as he obviously can, but I think he's not doing that for very much longer no matter where he is.
Also I think Louisville now enjoys a program that puts points on the board. I would bet they go after an offensive minded coach like Chad Morris, as has been mentioned, and not a defensive as with Bud. I have no basis for saying that other than my own intuition though.
I agree. I think Cutcliffe has found a natural fit for his style of coaching at Duke. That, and it would take a long downward spiral for them to think about someone else. They're just now hitting their stride with him, and Duke isn't known for pressuring their football coaches.
Having said that, I think Duke had a lot of seniors this year. They may be looking at a Wake Forest type situation for the next two years, where they have a lot of talent and experience graduating after a great year. I don't expect them to fall to 2 wins next year, and I think they'll make a bowl, but I don't see another 10 win season next year. Or maybe even the year after, for that matter. It'll take them two years to be this competitive again.
If I'm Louisville I start with Chad Morris.
So right before I hit "Post" I went to his wikipedia page to see what else I could find and someone changed his position to the current Head Coach at Louisville. Go Figure.
Even that article - short as it is - found a way to get 3 sentences about the SEC in.
So we talk about Texas and OU and Michigan and USC, the various "rivalries"....the question is always "How many times can he lose to X before he's fired..." We also have heated discussions on who the real rivalries are in the ACC. Given this, what coaches (if any) could hypothetically have "Beat Virginia Tech" as a requirement for job security? I would think VT would be one of the schools standing in the way of any of the other ones being "back".
If they all had a requirement to beat VT, about 10 would lose their jobs every year.
Posters on TKP see Bud Foster going to other schools like McCarthy saw red.
I think posters on every Hokie site everywhere worry about Foster taking a job elsewhere because: 1) he's qualified, 2) the program has a chance of imploding without him.
I don't know about imploding. I think torrian gray or charley wiles would be an excellent replacement at DC unless bud takes both of them.
You can't just assume that they could replace him, though. Sure there's a chance they could, but there is also a legit chance the defense, which has been the only thing that's really been working here lately, takes a step back (commence implosion)
Going from position coach to full coordinator could be a task they aren't ready for.
