oh baby
LET'S GO
HOKIES!!!!!!!!!
Missed an opportunity to title this thread 'Mack Brown to shit himself when he reads this tweet'
Perhaps there are advertising dollars there for the ACC Network since we can't see to get too many sponsors outside of Spurtles...
I was gifted a set of Spurtles a couple weeks ago. Man they are nice! I got my 5 year old making her own PB&Js with them and they work well for just about everything but cutting. Kid tried to use one to cut her sandwich in half. She did pretty well but a knife is just better for the job.
I mean... there's a good chance he just randomly shits himself anyway. A headline indicating he needed a reason might be a bit over the top.
Lane Stadium has not been at full capacity for year *ducks*
Reality of our shitty team aside it will be interesting to see how many people are willing to come to the game in person give the subpar product on the field plus the fact that Notre Dame and UNC are the only quality opponents we have at home this year.
I would wager that UNC will be a packed house due to not having any football from last year and people itching to get out of the house. I have acquaintances I havent seen since the 2019 football season because I literally only see them at tailgates.
After that though I'd agree, if we continue to be mediocre it might be same old same old in terms of Lane being 80% ish full
If 3/4 of the stadium is wearing periwinkle blue I will be very sad
Lane will no doubt be packed and rowdy.
It will definitely be 100% capacity at kickoff, hopefully it'll still be 100% after halftime.
After a year of not being able to go I would be shocked if the first game or so aren't packed to capacity. It's also against UNC. And Labor Day weekend.
Shit I think I might go since I'll probably be telecommuting in Richmond that following week.
Selling beer should help with that.
Beer truck following the team out of the tunnel into Lane during Sandman like:

I am so excited to be back in Lot 18 by 9 a.m. (If it wasn't a 2 hour drive and I could get someone out of bed earlier, we would be there sooner than that) and in the stadium for the game. We have missed football and being with friends so much. WOOOOOOO FOOTBALL!!!!!
Well you could do what friends of mine did and get a small RV then you can drive while some one is still in bed.
Great idea in theory, but we have to drive to my parents' house to drop off Mini LancerHokie and the dog the night before the game. So he would still have to get up to get in the RV... We also live in a townhouse so we don't really have a place for an RV...
Get in RV, drive to parents house with mini-you and dog, and husband. Sleep in RV infront of parents house. Take off in the morning .... assuming parents is close than your house.
If you're parent of an HOA, become president and make rules to support your RV storage at the expense of the other residents.
OR
Buy a massive RV and live in it full time, no need for a townhouse, you'll save some money.
I have never, in my entire life, been more excited to watch, in person, a team I predict to go .500 for the season
IT'S ALMOST TAILGATIN SEASON!!
I love this energy.
Aannnnddddd: ........................... Lane Stadium will have BEER for sale!

To be fair, after last year this is me going into this season
God that was a good show until the last season.
Google gobble mother fuckers
I did. This came up:

Based on early returns of full capacity events, i fully expect 1) the crowd to be extra rowdy for UNC 2) see several examples of fans embarrassing themselves moreso than normal
This is good news. I'm excited to get back into see a game live and be surrounded by fellow Hokie fans screaming for our team and causing the earth to shake!
I want to make it to the legendary Lot 18 this year. It's almost Bucket List material at this point.
Interestingly Lot 20 where we have parked for 4 years was full at time of my seating appointment (not sure why) but as a result my friend and I will be in Lot 18 this season!
Come by the side of Lot 18 by the Duck Pond. It is basically 3 groups of TKPer tailgaters on that end. LancerHokie and I have already started planning food ideas. Probably starting of the morning with cinnamon buns made on the smoker, then moving to smoked queso (smoked salsa, chorizo, velveeta, pepperjack cheese), and probably going to do a pile of turkey legs. Though I might make some fatties (bacon wrapped log of sausage filled with jalapeno mac and cheese). Or my jalapeno poppers (cream cheese, italian bread crumbs, and crab stuffing, wrapped in bacon, smoked until delicious). I haven't really decided and I may ask the Lot 18'ers to vote on it.
Got an email advertising their "local ticket package" for people near Blacksburg that includes seats in sections 508-510 (aka that top corner of SEZ that's been empty for an entire decade+).
Maybe this was obvious earlier with the switch to general admission student seating but it's awesome to see them finally take the students out of that corner. I've been saying for years if you want to see a genuinely full Lane instead of wondering every big game why that corner is empty that you need to sell those seats to the alumni and older folks who will actually go to their assigned seats instead of chucking freshmen up there who will sneak into other sections anyway.
Took advantage of this, $556 gets you 2 seats and the mandatory donation. Saves a good bit of money over the regular season tickets while still giving you every game.
Interesting to note, the tickets will be handled entirely by mobile delivery with the ability to add them to Apple Wallet.
Now you just need a phone signal to work at the stadium.
Click the link on the tweet. 4 game pass for Duke, Syracuse, MTSU, and Notre Dame, for under $300 and a $25 Hokie Club donation. Notre Dame tix are $300 on stubhub, so you can get 4 games for the price of 1. General public tix likely won't go on sale for Notre Dame.
Paraphrased from the link.
Do we know where the tickets are located? It's a great deal, but I am realllllly not trying to sit at the very top row of SEZ for the Notre Dame game
I don't think there is any chance of the Notre Dame tickets going to the public. One of the perks for letting VT keep the money last year in the "Keep Jumping" campaign was that people chose that route will get exclusive access to those tickets.
When I first saw this announcement...it felt like 15 minutes after I had finished my first full cup of jungle juice on senior beach week...just elated, jacked up, and wishing I hadn't had the next 5 cups...hell I'm just pumped to tailgate and be with my fellow Hokies! Not expecting a miraculous season but it's just gonna be good to be home again....let's go!!
100% capacity and alcohol sales? Boy, if VT can manage to upset UNC that will be one hell of a start to what would figure to be one hell of a season
@redcupcfb posted a 45-17 UNC victory to open the season. Put it on every daggum locker in the VT facility. On every door, every window, let all them kids know not a single soul expects anything out of this team. And then come opening weekend, boom, silence the critics.
I'm not terribly bullish about the on-field product, but I am very optimistic about being around a bunch of screaming loud drinking Hokies in Lane Stadium!
