Love seeing another Springer coming aboard. Coach Johnson prepares his young men well for the rigors of D1 CFB.
Heck yesssssssssssssss
LET'S GO
Volume warning on the commitment tweet lol
Welcome to the Hokies, Rashaud!
Great job fuente and staff! Looks like the staff is wrapping up commits to concentrate on the season without distractions. Lets hope it will be a very good year. Maybe 2021 is the year it all changes for the better.

Sharing this for the quote in the tweet, not the (paywalled) article that I haven't read.
Absolutely love it π€πͺπ₯
Somebody got the message about in state recruiting. My question is who delivered that message?
According to 247, Ryan Smith was Primary recruiter supported by JC Price as secondary.
Love this! Let's goooooooo
Ryan Smith has a lot of game on the trail and the Fan base will start to see that shine through now that he and the team can get in front of parents and kids.
Is this the same Ryan Smith (former JMU def back) that's playing on ESPN right now for the cornhole championship quarterfinals ?
Has to be. The name checks.
There is a huge difference between his 247 in house and his composite. It seems like the last 2 years 247 likes our players more than everyone else. Which i think is a good thing.
I am very happy about this, as I have paid a lot of attention to him since I moved to the Richmond area. Big kid, may slide inside. He isn't going to jump off the tape with his speed or athleticism, but he gets every ounce out of the speed and athleticism he has. Big, physical... blockers hate trying to block him. Great use of his hands to beat blockers, and he can bend his body. Very disciplined against the option. And he is around the quarterback a lot- he doesn't look like he will get here, and then he is there. Relentless pursuit.
As an added bonus, when he plays with his hand down, he uses almost the same stance as VT's DTs used last year.
I really like this kid. He is a well coached, hard working player based on his tape.
French, are there any VT DL players from years past that he reminds you of with his style of play?
Not quite as quick a first step, but very similar to Woody Baron. I think Pernell is bigger though. He has a very refined set of fundamentals and you don't see that often in HS recruits.
If he could be another Woody Baron, I think we would all be very happy.
With his body type, top level upside would be Boogie Basham. Very similar body types, and RP has that effort, pursuit, and hand play that made Boogie a very good ACC player. Boogie didn't have huge edge speed either. I think the difference is that RP may be much closer to a finished product than Boogie was at the same stage, and can RP continue to get better?
High praise
Awesome. Love hearing when we find kids who aren't totally raw and have "fit" to them when it comes to playing at VT. I personally think that matters (style of play and culture).
Unsurprisingly, Derrick Hopkins is his position coach at Highland Springs.
Is this another legacy get for us? Didn't we have another Pernell on our roster awhile back? I thought the name was spelled differently but spelling is not my strength.
Purnell was a LB, that might be who you're thinking about.
Edit: also Purnell was his first name.
Would you thinking of Purnell Sturdivant? LB from the early-mid 2000s as I recall.
There was Rashad Purnell on the OL back in my day, he would have graduated in '05 I think
