Apparently ESPN has him as a 4 star.
If he and Ford both come to VT, everyone qualifies and we get Nnadi and a couple other "strong Tech leans," then according to TSL, we'll have 94 scholarship players. In the words of Chris Coleman, Brace yourselves: Attrition is Coming. (also a good read, for those with a TSL pass)
I edited this post because it's somewhat newsworthy and relevant to our interests. The original tweet you embedded was from Random Internet Guy, not a source. If you're going to cite a tweet, make sure it's from a professional, or the player itself, not some random person playing a game of telephone. Twitter search is your friend. I searched for "Desean Blair" and within two seconds found the ESPN recruiting analyst who originally put the news out.
Thanks I had Hokies in my twitter search, should've cross-referenced his name.
You're welcome. And I should have said thank you for posting it, because I had no idea about him being interested.
Wonder if Loeffler and Beamer Co. reached out after Strong departed?
Glad we aren't wasting any time in doing so. You would have to think that Louisville is going to see a lot of attrition in what was supposed to be a good recruiting class. Might as well benefit the Hokies.
His film is here: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1575962/desean-blair.
!!!!!!!!!! Now, can we find someone to play defensive tackle this spring?
Excited French is excited.
With the O recruits we might be getting, we'll win in 2015 by not having to lean on the D as much.
Haven't we already gotten commits from enough WRs (Harrison, Phillips, Bradshaw, Holland & possibly Ford & McMillian if he doesn't pan out at QB)?
I think this guy is "considering" Virginia Tech the same way I'm considering taking Jessica Alba to a nice seafood dinner and calling her afterwards.
that makes no sense...that's like saying VT is completely uninterested in him..I doubt that
Are you implying Jessica Alba is completely uninterested in me?
Pretty sure the restraining order is making Jessica Alba's interest level more than implied.
It might be a contingency plan if Ford doesn't work out, it might be a double contingency plan if Harrison doesn't work out.
So a team that is always trying to crowbar walk-ons and gritty players into starting WR spots (some working out very nicely) is suddenly saying "No, we are too flush with talent to consider a spot for a talented WR" and has concerns about the D-line. Did I wake up in the twilight zone?
Yes.
Touche.
If Maddy leaves, your number 2 defensive tackles for spring practice are a D3 transfer and Matt Roth. I am a little anxious about that.
French: Do you foresee the coaching staff moving Teller back to d-line if Maddy leaves simply out of necessity?
This is a big-bodied kid, his frame reminds me of Marcus Davis. Sitting at 180 lbs, he too, like Andrew Ford, has tremendous upside. 2 years in Gentry's program and he could be a legitimate deep threat over the top. Regardless of position, you have to feel great about the direction of our program. We are competing in living rooms like we haven't seen in 4 or 5 years...our staff is hungry! Gobble-gobble.
Does he block downfield and stay committed to routes?
How can you be so right about this Marcus and so wrong about the other one? haha... jk dude +1
After researching this kid a bit I saw Ron Dugans is listed as his head recruiter at Louisville, and now I feel old.
