As awesome as the one at the beginning of the game was, I felt that the one at the end of the game was even better.

Yeah, something tells me Sam Howell slept with one eye open.....

Who the hell says "Enter Sandman playing? Let's show Sam Howell"

This guy:

I like going deeper into the song.

It's a MUCH welcomed change. It always bugged me a bit the way they use to do with by switching to the fight song right around the time the lyrics start. Nah. Sandman is there to get you PUMPED. Let it play thru. And when it gets to the 2nd round of the chorus, kill the music and let the fans continue singing. That's where the magic is at.

Yeah, switching to the fight song only works if someone would arrange a heavy metal version of Tech Triumph.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

Letting the fans finish the chorus really is a cool change that keeps it fresh

Occasionally for basketball, they time it perfectly where the music stops and we sing the end of the chorus rihgt at tip off and into the first 5-10 seconds of the game. Beautiful when they do that.

Honestly the fans singing is even better than the jumping for me. Something so beautiful about 60K+ people singing together and echoing

This guy hasn't heard me sing

Can we get this idea to the higher ups?

What we do in life, echoes in eternity

No official source, but I heard via rumors that, for the longest time, the head/orchestrator of the MVs refused to give up their "spot" playing to the team coming in the stadium.

I'd be curious if any could confirm that and provide insight to what has changed. I have nothing against the MVs, but Metallica is 100% amp factor. School marching band songs are much more inter-game material. Let's deafen the opponents before the game starts so they can't hear their QB signals!

But hot damn, the crowd singing verses of Enter Sandman in either football or basketball is Chill City, and we need more of it! I hope every single Hokie fan is singing along for the ND game in Oct!

Let's deafen the opponents before the game starts so they can't hear their QB signals!

"But that's not fair!" - Some tarhole Karen, for real.

I really doubt the MVs had anything to do with it. They only play the fight song after enter sandman when they form the tunnel for the team on the field, otherwise the highty tighties play the fight song.

The MVs only do pregame on the field for one game per year, maybe two on a good year. The highty tighties are the ones that would've had that problem, not the MVs.

I don't have an official source to refute your rumor, but anecdotally, from my time in the MVs, I just don't see it. Maybe the HTs, but I can't speak on them at all.

Mack looked nervous as shit thinking this was a smarter idea when they weren't expected to win.

I re-watched this a few times - I think Mack was wondering whether or not the prune juice would be in the locker room at halftime as he requested.

Enter The Sandman according to Ware

Yeah, he said that multiple times during the game. Really irritated me.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

I want to remove legs for Ware being such an unimformed idiot

Am I getting old or is it annoying seeing 50% of the fans with their phones out filming instead of jumping?

Danny is always open

We.

We're getting old.

You are getting old. The reaction to our entrance went viral on social media yesterday. It was a ton of great publicity and good will made. The students were rocking and did their part for the first time in a while.

Student section was max capacity 30+ minutes prior to kick off.

Kudos to them.

~*squints eyes in disbelief*

Absolutely. Me and my dad got into our seats literally 5 seconds before "please remove your hats" was said. I looked at him "holy cow look at the student section!" They brought the heat all damn night. Very proud of them.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

I don't give a shit what the students do (within reason) so long as they stay in the stands and keep up the noise like they did last night. Dax mentioned last night in the post game that it was hard to hear yourself think down on the field at points during the game.

For half of the student body, this was the first Sandman they got to experience as students. I'm ok seeing some cameras out.

We're getting old. But this has been the case since the entrance had gained super popularity, which also coincided with the explosion of half decent cameras on phones. Go to the Grand Canyon...you don't see a tremendous amount of people hiking into the canyon, however, you see 50 buses worth of folks standing around the viewing platforms with their cameras out. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

So does anyone here know which recruits (FB & maybe BB) were in the house for that raucous seismic experience?

Lots of 23s were in the house and basketball recruits had a big weekend.

Fantastic video of the end of Enter Sandman (with the fans singing / when the music cuts off)

As mentioned above in the thread, this has taken the tradition to the next level. I think they might have done this in 2019, they definitely did a couple times for basketball

goodness gracious is that beautiful

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

If it lasts more than a week, you're supposed to see a doctor.

The first time I recall them doing it in football was the 2018 ND game. Had a ND fan buddy with me at the game and he was blown away. Total goosebumps.

The first time it happened my first thought was, "this is fucking awesome, why did we wait so long to figure this out!?"

My god that is spectacular

Will Metallic ever do it live in Lane Stadium pregame? don't know if any of them are big college football fans but imagine that scene. It would take a season when the team was undefeated, a big game and maybe game day in town. Maybe ESPN helping cover the bill.

Spenge the Man. Go Hokies!

They're saving it up for the national championship game.

The Logistics of getting sound equipment and stuff moved out on the field for part of one song seems unlikely. It was rumored it was going to happen like once a year from the mid 00's till we started to slip.

(add if applicable) /s

I'd settle for a live video link from anywhere.

With any big sold-out game when VT is playing really well.

Can you imagine how that stadium would be rocking?

They did do a video for us where they addressed the crowd and played the song several years back. They played it on the big board and piped it in just like they do normally. I can't remember what game it was or when, but it was several years ago. Next best thing I guess.

I remember this...was it the '15 OSU game?

Wasn't it UNC game year Beamer retired?

Yeah, that was cool.

But not quite like playing the Enter Sandman intro live for a night game. Even if they did it remotely.

That was the ND game in '18. The stripe Lane game.

No logistics needed to rock out on top of the West stands....

or practice field as team walks by them...

but ffs they played in late-USSR Russia and Antarctica

Antarctica. And they can't be bothered to come to a place that's just 45 minutes from Roanoke, which used to be a regular stop on their tours? Please. We probably just don't have the money

Rumor has it they will be live for ND this year /s

Been seeing this circulating for a few days - definitely funny, though I question it's authenticity

I am having issues embedding the tweet from mobile, but I'd love each and every one of you more than I already do if you could go vote for VT's entrance over Tennessee and Clemson's in this twitter poll... Tennessee fans are being quite cocky in the quote tweets and you know how I feel about that. Please share with all of your friends, too!

"Running Through The T"?

That's hype? It's just an SEC version of UVA being lame.

Ballot stuffing is a TKP specialty, just ask Garden and Gun magazine.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I don't know how to vote on twitter. Help?
