To be fair to Fuente, as a competitive person you are always in a better mood and more personable when you are winning.
I'm just a fan and I am not great at interacting with others for hours after a loss. If I had put the hours and effort that he has into the success of the program, it would probably be difficult to be happy/cheery in an interview when they lose.

Fuente truly is a great guy. I really hope he has come through the valley of the shadow of death and can be the coach we thought we were hiring six years ago.

He's definitely more relax, but I've seen a ton of people on social media (yes, I know that's the problem) get on Fuente for not being more enthusiastic. I've always viewed his modest, unassuming demeanor with the media as a positive - it just general looks better when you're winning.
From all the instagram stories this summer he definitely has won the locker room, so there isn't a lack of enthusiasm for the team. We're not going to have fun moments like Coach O going off on a "sissy blue shirt" but it's never going to backfire on us like Coach O going off on a "sissy blue shirt."

Quoting John McKay in this day in age is pretty stupid - doing it as the coach who's known for getting a student worker killed at practice? Even dumber.

I've never understood all the Fuente hate. I think the hot seat is warranted for the W/L record and the recruiting to this point, but in all other ways I like Fuente and I want to see him do well not just for VT but because I think he's a good guy.

Honestly, it's just because we're losing and people are projecting. Sometimes, I feel like people are just grasping at straws.
Beamer was unassuming and kind-hearted. If he ran a losing program, people would say he lacked the killer instinct to be the head coach of a powerhouse program.
Would much, much rather have someone like Fuente who's an Eric Taylor clone than an obnoxious self-promoter like PJ Fleck. Behind the scenes (from people I trust, I've never met the guy), there's a lot of substance and strong foundational elements with Fuente.

He's gone through so much since the 2018 season, imho it's just great to see Fuente not feel like the weight of the world is on his shoulders.

I would imagine this holds true for most coaches after a win vs. a loss. But your point is well taken

....or maybe saying the entire team should be executed.
