Should go plaid. I love this. VT Legends.

Any way we can get him to do some film review with Corny while he is in town? Maybe sit in the booth until half?

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

you mean after half when adjustments need to be made right?

I am hoping against MTSU we have the game put away at half

We haven't been "putting away" lesser teams by half time in quite awhile. Furman comes to mind. I'm not in favor of a 70 to zip rout, but scoring 7 or 8 TD's allows us to go deep in the depth chart.

I am. Style points matter. If VT could beat anyone 70-0 I want them to do so. It's a heck of a lot more convincing than beating some mid major or fcs team 24-13

Not sure how style points really matter much to us. Unless, you are suggesting for playoff consideration. In which case, lol.

Some style points matter for recruiting anyway. We want to actually look like a tp 25 team with a number next to our name. Consistently doing that will do wonders for ticket sales, recruiting interest, donations, and getting young guys experience.

Style points matter for more things than just the playoff

recruiting, fan engagement, talking points for the talking heads - all things that VT can stand to gain from if we're blowing the doors off of inferior teams. You know what hurts VT? Playing close games against the western kentuckys of the world or, worse yet, losing them (ODU comes to mind).

Plus, if we're up 35-0 or something by half time that gives a team like VT which badly needs to build up its depth an opportunity to get some younger guys valuable game experience in a relatively low pressure situation where they can go out and not worry about screwing up. I don't necessarily care if we beat an FCS team by only 38-20 if it was 35-0 at halftime and the second half was played by mostly back-ups. It would be great for our depth to get those guys on the field more. What bothers me is when we are forced to play our starters for a full game against an FCS squad because we can't pull away and we win a close one 24-21 or something. That sucks. In the grand scheme of things Ws are Ws whether it's 70-0 or 21-20 but style points matter very much. Winning big against inferior competition is important this day in age.

Rack up one sided victories against minnows and help your national rankings for various offense and defense stats.

It's not just experience for the backups either, it's resting starters and limiting their risk of injury too.

And using up the 4 games for the redshirt guys who won't get to play much anyway.

yes, both of these are great points as well

I'll take good habits whenever we can get them. While playoff contention would certainly be nice (albeit unrealistic for sure), putting a game away at the half (Tyrod and Wake Forest 2010 comes to mind), tallying up the score to show a full 60 minutes of execution, winning the games we should win, and in the way we should win them, is the type of thing contenders do, and we did once upon a time, too. 1999 was a good year where we demonstrated those same habits. Worked out pretty well then.

At this point in VT football, I expect adjustments will be need to be made haha.

This is some lovely PR

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

The Mack Brown strategy of showing off a trophy completely unrelated to the current situation?

Hopefully Cody Grimm comes too. Dude was my favorite Hokie. Just a hard worker that played his nuts off.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Was it the NC State game where he had two sacks and a forced fumble on the first 3 defensive plays of the game?

He was actually before my time. If you have the highlight I would love to watch though

Oh, how I miss Hokietapes...

No tapes, but he was my eighth grade PE student teacher for six weeks back in the day.

...with spirits true and faithful...

Highlights here:

Ah, the memories of Tyrod plus Ryan Williams and sticking it in when near the goal line. And did you know Boykin had XXXL gloves?

Lol Russel Wilson

It was 2009 vs. NC State , sack/fumble on the first play, forced fumble on the 3rd play, and a forced fumble on the 4th play (NCSU recovered this one though).

If one t Scot was still here maybe Brady would come. Ducks

Hokies fan since 1998

Brady would not come because he knows Danny Coale caught that ball

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Hopefully my man is a few old fashioneds in when he does the "Let's Go" chant! Love it

How will we know when to yell "Bruuuuuuuuuuce"?
