Is Alabama big enough for both their egos?
Former Southern California head coach Lane Kiffin is interviewing for the Alabama offensive coordinator job as early as Thursday, according to a source.
Kiffin will visit Tuscaloosa for the interview but won't be alone in the running for the job. A long list of NFL suitors should be involved for a coveted job to replace Doug Nussmeier, who is now Michigan's offensive coordinator.

Stay gold, ponyboy.
Stay gold.
If that man ends up at Bama, I don't think I could muster up enough hate on a regular basis to properly hate them.
I agree.
And hopefully he will end up like his dad, everyone loves the scheme but it doesn't win much anymore.
The bad part is the rest of the article. NFL coaches are considering this a side move to be an OC in the league or one at Bama.
WVU is gonna get murdered in 8 months.
I just cant see Saban doing that to Alabama. There has got to be someone else higher on his coaching tree that he can bring in to do the job.
My thoughts exactly... No way in hell.
Agreed. Saban isn't gonna put up with his shenanigans. If he does hire him, I'd like to be the fly on the wall when Saban gives him his "Does and Don'ts" spiel. I bet the looks on Kiffin's face and the color of Saban's would be hilarious!
Also, if they do hire him, perhaps the ego battle is enough to wreak havoc on their execution and team building. I know...Its a Dream...
ESPN is now reporting he got the job.
So he goes from the Raiders, to eeking out a bowl appearance at Rocky Top, to landing a premier gig at USC, to unemployed, to an OC on Saben's Alabama machine? Does this guy have hidden pictures of people? How does he keeping getting jobs?
Have you seen his wife? I'm sure his resumes and recruiting pitches have something along the lines of "my wife will be at all practices in a bikini." That's the only reasonable explanation he's not the manager of a Taco Bell right now.
I feel like I'm one of the few people who honestly doesn't mind Alabama (when we're not playing them that is). In that case, I really hope Lane Kiffin doesn't get the job. I really don't want to start hating them and if he gets hired I will have to. What a jerk...
It's easy to pay no mind to the best. I get your sentiment, and I'm kinda that way as well.
I feel like we'd hate them a ton more if we were more productive and closer to the top 5. Especially of Bama stood in our way for something.
Their fans: Are. Just. So. Awful.
Yeah, I remember in the preseason all of them running around saying they were the best College Football team EVER. Not this year, but in the history of college football and that they could take on an NFL team. I now bring up the Oklahoma and Auburn games and they just make up dumb excuses like Auburn was super duper lucky and the team didn't care or really prepare for Oklahoma so it doesn't matter.
In general, yes they are insufferable. However, I actually had a nice little chat with one guy while walking to the stadium in Atlanta in August. A Bama fan had a pom pom drop out of her pocket and another one just picked it up and didn't give it back. The guy next to me asked me to not judge the whole fan base based on the actions of one douche. Then we had a good time walking to the stadium, talking about the teams (the guy actually had pretty good football knowledge) and the fact that his wife is from my hometown in CA. Small world. So yes, a large, vocal portion of the fan base is obnoxious and arrogant and annoying, but there are a solid number of good ones too.
I feel like that's the case with most large fanbases.
Do NOT tell anyone from LOLUVA this or the 99.9% of douches that are there will become even more insufferable
Did PAWWWLLL have anything to say about this on his show today? I thought I heard on the radio this morning that Kiffin to Bama was pretty much a done deal, but I really don't remember where I heard that or if I even heard it correctly.
Appropriate:
Not surprising. Saban had him on campus before Christmas evaluating his offense to see if he could transition to an uptempo one. Saban is not dumb and knows that is where CFB is heading. Also, supposedly him and Saban are friends, who knew? I can't stand the guy but he is a pretty good OC and Saban keeps all of his assistants on a tight leash, how many times have you seen one give an interview...?
Saban has assistants? (good point)
They're called "demons" by some holy books.
hey maybe saban can mentor him? guy is still young and can be taught to be a better "coach"
All I can say is if he's still there when Bama returns to Neyland, Kiffin better hope his security escort is competent.
He got the job? Dear god, this is the work of Cthulhu. Tuscaloosa is going to be where R'lyeh breaches the mortal plane! May he have mercy on our pathetic mortal souls.....
Man I hope this somehow ends with Kiffin taking over for Saban in a few year
Man I hope somehow this ends with Saban and Kiffin both out of work in a few years
Saban: not a chance. Kiffin: Possible.
A good friend just shared this with me. Classic.
Simultaneously disturbing and hilarious.
I was not prepared for this and now there are little drops of spit on my screen.
FAKE! Those heads look to be about 30 percent smaller than accurate scale.
Lane Kiffin leaving Alabama, a couple years from now...
That gif is perfect in just about every way!
Adding intrigue to the plot, with zero supporting evidence I'm going to rashly start the rumor that Saban is playing a long game here... he knows he's sitting on a powder keg, and he's bringing in known scum to take the fall for him in a few years.
Either that, or Kiffin has a photo of Saban pissing on the statue of Bear Bryant.
