According to Miles Joseph of Land-Grant Holy Land, Virginia Tech committment Brady Taylor received a scholarship offer to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes took a big step in landing one of their remaining targets when they extended a scholarship offer to 2014 Columbus (OH) Bishop Ready offensive tackle and Virginia Tech commit Brady Taylor. Ohio State offered him about a week ago, but he wanted to keep the offer quiet for a couple of days because he is currently committed to another school.
He is definitely interested in the Buckeyes and plans to make the short trip to Ohio State's campus Saturday in order to take a more in-depth look at the football program. Taylor, a Columbus native, grew up rooting for the Scarlet and Gray.
The author is predicticting Taylor will eventually end up with the local Bucks.
We'll see what happens.

Pretty much everyone on 247 is predicting that too. Hopefully we can keep the Fab5 together, especially since he's probably one of our better prospects.
I don't really know much about it...but it just bugs me because sometimes I feel like people just think, oh, "Ohio State offered him. Of course he would go there instead of VT, who wouldn't?"
That bothers me too. I'm hoping he decides to stick with the school that made him a priority, not an afterthought after all their other targets said no.
Childhood favorite, local school, better football program. Id understand
My comment was more that I feel like some people who follow recruiting/recruiting services just feel that a kid would go to VT only if no one else made him a better offer. Since tOSU offers, and is seen as the better offer, I feel like some people would think, oh of course he'd go, without necessarily considering anything else.
There isn't a lot of history of kids from Ohio who grew up OSU fans picking VT if both options are available.
My comment was not specific to him. Just a perceived mindset that anyone who would be offered by tOSU would of course go these because people only go to VT if they have no other options.
Or at least sometimes I feel that's how people think.
It's a fair point, we do ok against OSU and it's not just Va kids. It wasn't long ago that we couldn't beat the big boys for anyone. We literally went a decade without getting a kid who ND also offered. Now we frequently go head to head with the best and win.
But the Brady Taylor recruitment is heavily rooted in his specific context.
I have no idea where you get that viewpoint from but clearly that's not the national perception of Virginia Tech. If that was the case, guys like Kendall Fuller, Trey Edmunds & Holland Fisher wouldn't have come here.
Virginia Tech is a very well-respected program. We sometimes don't get every recruit we want because Blacksburg is in the middle of nowhere and we have an old-school coach (the same way Penn State didn't get every recruit they wanted under Jo Pa).
I think the reason most people think he will switch is because he made it known early on in his recruiting that he grew up an OSU fan. Growing up in Columbus, that's understandable. I don't think they're slighting our program, at least most of the people saying he'll switch. It's the same as someone growing up in SWVA and flipping to VT when they get a late offer, sometimes it's a no brainer.
BTW, I'm in no way saying he'll switch to OSU I have no clue. Just don't be shocked if it happens.
Tough for Columbus kids to turn down tOSU. Sucks that we might lose him, but if he is happier there than here; it works out for both parties.
this stinks. They lose 4 of 5 OL this year so playing time is there. Hope he sticks.
Oh man I really hope he sticks with the Hokies...How much do you wanna bet he moves up to 4 stars now as well?
Hey Urban: BACK the F*#% OFF!

There is only one true way to settle this. Last-Man-Standing match: Bud Foster vs. the entire coaching staff at tOSU.
And players past, present , and future.
Handicapped match, Bud is only allowed a stellar defense, an eh offense...
Wait are we talking about the game in September?
Heard rumblings of this but thats quite a shot to the midsection. It never feels good when a major program like this swoops in and grabs up a guy as an after thought. I would be very surprised if he doesnt accept their offer.
Only part that bugs me: "but he wanted to keep the offer quiet for a couple of days because he is currently committed to another school."
Sounds a bit like weak sauce, IMHO.
I hope he signs in February, but if he decides to be close to home, or whatever, I get it.
Otherwise we best get used to this as we offer better talent/prospects. It's the price of doing business.
Well said. Valid point. If we go up against the big boys, this risk is always there.

The only thing that bothers me is that he said even if OSU offered he would be flattered but that he would stay with the hokies. He said that before the OSU offer came. Now that it came I expect him to leave
BT at VT has a better ring to it. The future is Virginia Tech where you will be part of and a leader in something very, very special in the making.
I guess Taylor understands why it took so long for tOSU to extend an offer - he's far from being one of their first choices.
In fact, tOSU offered 31 other OLs BEFORE they extended an offer to Taylor.
Just FYI.
"RealDiehl to Brady: Read this."
key here is whether Grimes stays
Yep - that's another fly buzzing around in the ointment. And a big fly at that.
Did I miss some key rumblings on this? Is Grimes in other coaching discussions?

Damn accountant busy season, missed that thread. Thanks.
Isn't all year your busy season?
This. Winner!
