Remember that Fuente and Cornelson raved about Burmeister as the best option at QB? Like the best they ever had.... So today, QB Herndon Hooker, the former QB1 that had to transfer because the VT coaching staff said he wasn't QB1 material three for three TDs and rushed for another. Yup. Fuente...the QB whisperer...🤣🤣🤣
(Paraphrasing because I don't remember the exact quote but I'm still getting this right): "Gone are the days VT defense will have to hold people under 20" (or 30...)

What a horrible decision. You get backed up like that, take the PAT and move on. Why try a 2 or conversion backed up that far?
What's the difference between a 1 point lead and a 2 point lead? It doesn't matter. But getting a 3 point lead matters.
A future TD plus a two point lead is nine points; other team would need two possessions.

Just take the point, not worth going for it backed up that far and still early in the game. You're already playing with your second string QB in. If that pick was run back that's two points and a blown lead.
I don't think Fuente is the answer, but going for two there was the right call. AND it was actually a good play call. The guy was wide open in the end zone! It was a bad throw. Fair to question if the right QB was in. But I don't fault the decision or the playcall

Going for 2 point conversion from 8 yd line with back-up QB.... Kick the damn extra point and we're 9 after BB's TD and the finish is very different. SMH- Fu can find more ways to blow a great effort.
Something I would like to ask my fellow Hokies. Regardless of where you are on the topic of firing this staff or retaining it.
When I watched the Tennessee game against South Carolina, Herndon Hooker seem to know the plays had even called plays without huddles. Also, when he looked over to the sideline after getting the line of scrimmage set, it only took a second or two. When VT tries this, the QBs always take a good 4-5 seconds of reading and decipher whatever signals the coaches give them. Does this mean the playbook is, I can't believe I'm saying this, but is CornFu's scheme/playbook just too complicated???

Other programs teach their players how to thrive in their schemes/systems...VT's offensive coaches teach their players how to thrive for only the next play.

Hendon Hooker is killing it right now with the Vols. That's not a good look for the VT coaching staff, who never really seemed to believe in him.
The most telling issue with the staff is after Braxton gets hurt. We don't have a competent backup. Went straight to our 3rd string running package, didn't look like he'd thrown a game situation ball in practice all year. He gets hurt We go back to and obviously injured Braxton. So wtf is Knox doing and where's Tahj at?
Is Knox only for when we're backed up in our own endzone?

He's a backup and had a turnover. He's not allowed to attempt another pass for at least 6 games.

I was thinking the same thing. Roster management is a crucial part of coaching and the QB situation is very precarious right now. If BB3 gets hurt, the coaches have zero confidence in anyone else to even attempt passes.
God bless BB3. He showed real guts last night. I really hope he heals up quickly. If he doesn't, there will be absolutely no passing game against Pitt.

BB3 is having passing accuracy issues. He keeps throwing high or long. VERY few passed are hitting the receiver in a tide. Is he experiencing eye problems...necessary for depth perception...
He has a hurt shoulder. Did it in the UNC game (first half right when we stopped our offensive flow). Of course, hey aren't releasing information and are playing him hurt versus getting backup ready to play. It's causing him to not trust his short throws (over thinking it) and try to "muscle up" deep throws.
