Phantom Targeting Calls will get after ya. He seems to be adapting well to his role this year, finally seems to be playing the right position. Hopefully he gets ample time to audition for the show the rest of the season.

one thing that is tricky is measuring intent. I think Dax was trying to tackle with his shoulder but made incidental contact with his helmet. By the book, targeting. Was he head hunting? I doubt it.

exactly, not the kind of the play the rule is intending to prevent, but the kind of play that is prevented by the rule nonetheless. watched on TV at live speed as it happened i thought it was a BS call, but the replay showed it was correct. harsh, but correct.

At live speed i knew it was targeting, he lowered his head. It was blatantly obvious they were going to call it. He keeps that up and runs through the guy its legal.
While this play might not have been dangerous, the rule is meant to stop players from lowering their head, so its trying to teach players not to lower the head in more dangerous situations.

Dax, I so hope you have the opportunity to play at the next level. Same with Tre. The people who have really stuck things out so deserve a shot at glory.

Dax is a Hokie through and through.

There wasn't much phantom about it. It's a harsh call but the rule seemed to be properly applied
Agreed. I hate that Dax was out, but it was applied letter of the law.
At some point I might have to watch the game online. Live it looked like a perfect hit. Even the replay showed in the stands showed a clean hit.
