Wow. Johnson a dynamic DC area recruiter. MT @SIPeteThamel: SOURCE: Ohio St close to finalizing deal w longtime Penn St asst Larry Johnson.— Hokies Journal (@HokiesJournal) January 14, 2014
This guy is a great recruiter in the DC area. This only hurts us. I just hope we can keep grimes. We really need someone to contend in recruiting

Well I guess we are going to be going against TOSU now for just about every recruit we go after.
This could hurt a little more in retaining Brady Taylor. Johnson is top notch, and the fact that he is now paired with a hot coach in Ashtabula Jesus could mean trouble for us down the road in recruiting.
Haha, I definitely had to do some digging to figure out what the heck you were talking about.

It's not like we haven't been recruiting against this guy...As long as we keep Moorehead we will be ok.
True, but IMO the issue is that it adds another team to the fold in tOSU. Penn State's going to continue recruit well in the DMV-area with Franklin, so this adds more competition.
I hear you, but at the same time competition is good, we underrecruited the DMV for far too long. Moorehead has his work cut out for him for sure (Johnson not to mention Lockesly), but if this class is any predictor we are in good hands in the DMV.
As was said in another thread, "we need BETTER long-term contingency plans."
Wasn't LJ a former PSU RB?
Larry Johnson, Sr. (the coach discussed on this board) is the father of Larry Johnson, Jr., the former PSU running back.
Thx Hokie guy from PA!
Johnson was Nnadi's main recruiter for Penn State, could help swing him to Ohio St.
Lots of recruits I be seeing on twitter love the Johnson hire at OSU. This could be ugly for us
Not just us.
Sounds like PSU hired Chip West away from UVA. Interesting move as he is UVA's best recruiter but it does put a good VA recruiter on PSU's roster. A swap with Johnson, kinda.
UVA losing West and Poindexter, on the other hand is crippling. Well, they were already crippled. Now they've been amputated? This metaphor is getting kinda gross.
The reaction I'm getting up here is that if the choice is LJ vs. Franklin, they're liking Franklin a lot more. Harrisburg was LJ's area and there aren't a lot of D1 football players coming from there. OSU got a good one.
Edit: double post.
Dave Biddle of BuckNuts.com was guest on 2nd hour of Bill King show this morning. Was asked what was left for recruiting at tOSU this year, and he only mentioned 3 names:
1. Brady Taylor - a "lock" to flip from VT. (Bill noted they have to refill their OL after the interview)
2. Derrick Nnadi - good chance with "Larry Johnson" coming on, his recruiter from PSU.
3. Some kid from Texas.
