It seems that common office 'Monday water cooler conversations' revolve around one general idea: Monday's just plain suck, especially now that there is no MNF on.
In a completely off topic subject, what is the worst part of your Monday or Monday's in general? The obvious response is that it is 5 days until the next weekend, but is there something in your work life/home life that particularly nags at you and happens on Mondays moreso than any of the other days of the week? Any examples of where Monday's are just plain awesome?

I don't go to "work" because I am still a student, but waking up and getting out of bed is the worst part of Mondays.
Being a student and still having to wake up and go to work on Mondays is pretty bad too.
The 940358430 meetings that I have to go to in which we talk about work that I cannot get done because I'm stuck in 940358430 meetings.
Meetings to talk about meetings that talk about other meetings.
The endless cycle.
The worst is when you have to sit in meetings about other meetings which will lead to additional meetings that actually have nothing to do with you at all but if you miss the meeting about the meetings you lead the doghouse race for the week at least.
Talking myself into getting out of my warm and comfy bed because if I don't I'll be living on the streets drinking 40s with other Hobos. Then I start thinking, "That doesn't sound too bad!" Finally I realize internet connections under bridges are spotty and I go take a shower.
And this is why I need to find some stupidly rich chick to marry so I can live everyday like Saturday and Sunday.
This man.... this man's on to something.
Shoot, would that mean there'd be football on every day too?!
Ideally that would be what I wold go for. But I have a feeling that she'd make me compromise for just a second NFL that ran from February to September. Oh the things I'd do for love.
I need the same thing but I need food to go with it.
So if anyone knows the heiress to the Hot Pocket fortune, hook a horse up
The only timely Google known heiress to the hot pocket fortune! You could be that lucky horse!

Yep. That's whatever it was you were talking about is for.
I now have a goal in life.
Someone asking you if you have a "case of the Mondays"!
I believe you'd get you ass kicked saying something like that
Rainy Mondays...
Like today.
Finishing all of the days work in two hrs....this day should fly by..../sarcastica
For me it was always the smell of the office. The transit to the office I could deal with, weather I could deal with, the people were fine but when I entered the office and got the smell of it in my nose I immediately just wanted to turn around. A lot of times I would and just go get a coffee for another 10 minutes of freedom. Maybe that's just me.
Now I own my own business so I am proud of going, but I always imagine my employees feel the same way.
Get a bunch of different air fresheners and swap them out with a different scent every couple weeks. That way they never get a chance to associate Mountain Meadows with the office because you swapped it out for Ocean Breeze.
My office always smells like burnt popcorn. Even at 8am in the morning....hate that smell....
You guys should stop burning your popcorn. Flip the bag over and read the instructions.
Don't most microwaves nowadays have a "popcorn" button on them as well?
I don't work with the brightest people...
Hoo engineers? Don't they outsource bulb replacement to Tech grads?
My floor smelled like popcorn today too... but it wasn't burnt.
I'm just gonna leave this here.
I take no responsibility for the apostrophe fail. Monday's WHAT are so ruff?
On a positive note, Monday's are just plain awesome because they bring FLBP on theCHIVE.

When the main database fails and goes into a massive meltdown and everything you have put in/bought/sold/done today is not recorded even though it said saved. Our whole company is having a MONDAY from hell. Good thing, I am heading home for the day. FMLMondays
When other people ask what I did over the weekend and none of it is appropriate to talk about.
Either that or I did absolutely nothing at all and I get sad.
This frequently happens to me a lot as well. I usually just say "just watched my game" or "just hung out at the house" whatever lameness comes to mind lol
Yep same here! I've never been able to truthfully explain to someone at work exactly what I've done on the weekends, because I feel I would get looked down upon for going to a brewery, or having a beer and staying up past 8pm.
My work is full of people who don't have a life so they make talking about other people their life.
So I prefer to keep my personal life to myself. I think breweries are awesome! Too bad
you don't work here b/c I would actually be interested and I definitely wouldn't look down on you. :)
Yep - I do the exact same thing for the exact same reason. People in Lancaster County, PA litterally live in the 1700's. Had a coworker ask me if I have ever heard of Under Armour before.... wow.
Do you also have horse and buggy parking spots at work? The kids have been wearing UA for quite some time now. They must not get out much at all haha!
I kid you not - yes, yes there are 'hitching posts' for horses and buggy's. They definitely do not get out much, or welcome new, fresh ideas. Very narrow minded.
It's like every day on my commute I travel back in time... only to return to the real life 8-10 hours later.
I work out in the middle of nowhere about 25 mins from VT. But its not like I travel in time
when I get here. LOL do you work on an Amish farm or something.
No Amish farm haha. I work for New Holland Agriculture.
Still sounds interesting. LOL
Do you ever bring things with you just to mess with their heads? You know like a Science Oven and just magically cook things in front of them in mere seconds?
I need to! The day after I got asked the Under Armour question, I did wear an Under Armour VT sweatshirt just to see if anyone noticed it was Under Armour....
And did they notice?
Maybe they meant "Under Armor" literally and was looking for an answer like this:

I went to school at Millersville so, I feel yer pain.
Come on up to Roanoke and stop by mine.
You all have good stuff - big fan of local craft brews and you all were one of the first in the Roanoke / SW VA area. I used to get Track 1 when I was living in Blacksburg.
I still haven't been to any local breweries. Anywhere I should start?
There are several down there - of course, Bull and Bones, and the River Company. But there are also:
These 4 are near my parents and my hometown - you can get the beer in Blacksburg either on tap or bottled, but I highly recommend taking a trip down Rt. 151 in Nelson County to visit these - within 12 miles of each other.
Blue Mountain - Nelson County, VA
Devil's Backbone - Nelson County, VA / Rockbridge County, VA
Wild Wolf Brewing Co- Nelson County, VA
Bold Rock Cider - Nelson County, VA
Southwest VA
Parkway Brewing Company - Salem, VA - really good IPA and Porter.
Wolf Hills - Abingdon, VA
Roanoke Railhouse - Roanoke, VA (egbert's brewery!)
Flying Mouse - Daleville, VA (not sure if they are open yet)
Sunken City - Hardy, VA
And that, my friend, is your local beer guide.
(edited: had to give a shout out to TKP's own egbert)
I just have to add in there that Blue Mountain also owns the Blue Mountain Barrel House which has some great beers. Each one is barrel aged, some in old bourbon, rum, or other liquor barrels.
Wow thanks man! I have actually been to the River company a few times. It wasn't bad.
One time I went they were out of all their beers. That was kinda weird.
Not completely sure where Nelson Co is but dang sounds like it would be worth a trip.
I should have already gone to the Railhouse and Parkway by now. They are only 45 mins away.
I'm ashamed. Thanks again for suggestions!
Sure thing!
Nelson County is just west of Charlottesville off I-64 - probably 2 hrs from Blacksburg. Definitely worth the short venture.
Cool I've got a couple cousins in C-ville. Will have to hit them up for a weekend. :)
nelson 151 ftw!
just have a dd when you do the 151 crawl. it is roadblock city over there.
^^This^^ hashtag truth.
DBB also has their "Outpost Brewery" in Lexington, just an hour north of the Burg.
There are a few more firing up in Roanoke.
Big Lick Brewery - 2nd and Campbell, across from the Times building in the one with the ugly mural on the side that you can see from the 2nd street bridge. Opening in the Spring, equipment delivery is scheduled for March completion.
Flyng Mouse is open.
Chaos Mountain Brewery - Boones Mill. they have their 7 bbl pilot brewery installed and running through test batches right now. Rest of their production will be installed by mid spring.
Big Daddy's used be part of Growler's in Towers Shopping Center in Roanoke. Sean is reopening the brewery after Growlers closed. The name is going to change but until licensing is done I'm not sure what the official name is. Equipment is installed and they are working on test batches. Location is just on the other side of the tracks from the transportation museum in Roanoke. 5th and Shenandoah St. maybe?
2 others in planning stages. When they officially announce I can let you know.
Anybody want to keep up with these or needs more info, drop me a line or start a brewery thread.
There's more. Blue Lab in Lynchburg, for instance, and a few excellent beer bars. I kinda keep up with these and know all these guys.
Awesome! Thanks for the info Egbert!!
and M : home of the 'Flaming Moe'
Forgot one relatively close too.
Apocalypse Brewing in Forest, which is Bedford County. In the old Forest Fire Company building.
Thy make some real nice stuff.
Also, there's one down near Martinsville. The name escapes me.
If you go to The River, the head brewer there is Jason Anderson. He's new as the brewer there last summer. We worked together. Tell him the brewer from Roanoke Railhouse says, "Hi." That's easier to remember than my name .
Next time I'm down that way, I'll have to check out the one in Bedford Co.
while we're on the subject, redbeard brewing has opened in staunton. small operation, but it's a laid back atmosphere and quality brews.
Great, now I'm fucking thirsty. I am Bender, please insert liquor baby!
Work at a brewery so, when I say that stuff it generates a 10 minute discussion before so embody has to add more hops to the boil or something similar.
I hate the ramifications of weekend festivities. Most of which take place in the bathroom.
Wait... the festivities took place in the bathroom, or the ramifications?
HA! In some cases, both.
My Mondays aren't usually bad, as it pertains to me and my work.
My kids act brand new on Monday, though...
You know what I hate about Mondays? I'll tell you what I hate about Mondays. I woke up on a Monday uncertain about the future of Jeff Grimes as our offensive line coach. This unresolved situation has been eating at me all day and, in fact, for many days. The thought of trying to rebuild this offense without him is soul-crushing. I'll let Dr. Cox more fully explain what would happen if Grimes were to leave us:
It's pretty bad. So there, that's what's awful about Mondays: the uncertainty. There are new things to deal with and I have no idea how any of them will turn out. I just want to get to Friday so at least I know how it all ends. Stupid Mondays and their new beginnings....
^^^^ THIS!!
Being in the military:
Having to part with my beard every Monday before work. Oh how I miss facial hair
Also: yesterday (a Monday no doubt) I found out my next duty station is South Dakota. ...the feels...
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...
Worst... Monday... EVER....
South Dakota? Did you get orders for a missle access facility? Aka hole in the ground.
Well, I'm medical now so I won't be in the hole in the ground... But I'm sure the fact that I used to work on missiles had A LOT to do with my assignment selection unfortunately.
Could be worse, could be El Paso...
This.
I'm a fan of Monday's. Why you ask? Listening to Bill Burr's Monday Morning podcast on my way to class.
Honestly Mondays aren't too bad for me. I usually have a good bit of things to do at work so it goes by fast, some Monday's I have basketball games at night for church league this time of year.
I am a firm believer that Tuesday is the worst day of the week. Mondays you are prepared for. You spend all day Sunday preparing yourself for Monday, you have accepted that fact that Mondays suck and will always suck since you were a kid in school. On the other hand, you wake up on Tuesday after a long a miserable Monday and realize, shit, it is only Tuesday. It is still the beginning of the week. There are no football games on ever on Tuesdays. There are rarely any good baseball games on. Tuesday night dinner is usually Sunday or Monday left overs. People are always bitchy on Tuesday at work because they are back at work after a shitty Monday.
I stand by my belief that Tuesday is the true worst day of the week. Thank God it is Wednesday.
Now that you say that, I now think every other Wednesday is the worst day of the week. I work a 9/80 schedule so we get every other Friday off. Work all week then Wednesday shows up and one week it's "Wohoo! One more day and I get a 3 day weekend!" then the next it's "FUCK I still have two more days of work...."
They implemented a 9/80 schedule sector wide for us and then the week before it was to go in effect they told us our project was the exception. sucks
You waste your entire Sunday "preparing" for Monday? Such a waste.
I could see how Tuesdays are the worst day of the week - I agree with you that it can sometimes be worse than Mondays.
"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."
false, some college football games air on Tuesday evenings. ...nothing to write home about, but it's football.
I dislike Les Miles on Monday.
I dislike the SEC on Monday.
Heck, I dislike them every day!!!!
Ewwww, she spit on him!
Happy Friday to all TKP!!
Its also my payday!! :)

The worse part about Mondays?
When you realize you forgot to get coffee when you were at the grocery over the weekend.
