The Ladies play Coppin State at home today at 7:00 PM. Game is on ACCNx and ESPN+. Another tune up game.

Nothing about Coppin State indicates this will be a competitive game. More time for Coach Brooks to work on player development.

Hokies!
Well that's something I've never seen. Coppin State given a technical prior to the game starting for not getting their lineup in soon enough. Hokies start 1-0 before any time comes off the clock.
Doesn't look like we needed the help
Hard part of the double double out of the way for Kitley
Pointing it out that at with 4:42 left in the 3rd, the Hokies have scored as many points in the 5:18 of the 3rd Qtr as Coppin State has all game.
Double Double for Kitley
I kind of wish Brooks had played everybody. When you are up 40+, you can actually play the walk ons.
I don't think there are any walk-ons.
He's got a roster of 12. Norris is out for the time being with an injury and Brooks is done for her career, so we only have an active roster of 10. I would have liked to see more from the 7-8-9-10 players on the roster, though, and will have that included in my writeup tonight/tomorrow morning.
FAM. The defense looked a lot better, but I think it was just the competition. I get the 47 game home win streak against non-con opponents is cool, but I'd like to see us play a few more games that prepare the ladies for the ACC, not remind them of high school.
I don't know that there are enough quality women's teams to give that preparation and still be be cost effective enough to travel to and from Blacksburg. Most of the better tests would come from the west coast, and unless we get them in a neutral site, I can't see them agreeing to any kind of series or one-off.
We got Tennessee and Missouri State on the schedule, both of whom were tournament teams last year. I'd like to have added VCU as well.
332 D1 teams finished higher than Coppin State last year (NET Rankings). I agree we have some good games coming up, and that there are not that many teams in the top 50 that are close enough to play, not in the ACC, and willing to play us, but there are LITERALLY hundreds of better teams we could have scheduled. I am just saying I think it would help the team more to play teams in the top 150 than out of the top 300. I would also be more fun for me to watch.
