The Hokies play St. Francis, PA tonight at 8PM at home. The game is on the ACCN. Should be another early season warm-up game. St. Francis lost a close game at George Washington and blew out Franciscan at home:

They start 3 seniors and 2 sophomores. Almost the full roster,15 of 16 players have seen playing time in their two games. Six of those only played in one game and did not play many minutes, probably cleared the bench during the blow out game. They do have a 6'9 sr and a 6'10 soph, who may affect Mutts or Aluma. More likely Mutts or Aluma will get them in foul trouble.

Stats for those who like to look at the numbers:

All indications are that this will be another night for CMY to mix and match his players and get some playing time for the non-starters.
Go Hokies!

LET'S GOOOOOOO
HOKIES!!!
Will be there!
I'm looking for improvement on getting the ball into Keve in scoring position and crisper back-court passing out of the starters. I'd like to see a lot of the bench get quality minutes and show improvement.
Anyone who has that half court trap in their defensive arsenal is going to use it vs us. We need to get someone in the middle and attack it. As is once we break it we don't have our offense running until shot clock is at 20
I'm definitely not a fan of our soft lob passes back and forth against the half court press/trap. I feel like we should be more aggressive with our passing and attacking to get across the half and give us a numbers advantage before they reset into their normal defensive positions. I trust we'll get better at it.
You and me both. It drives me crazy, push the ball and take advantage of numbers if they are hanging back to force those lobs. And those passes have already been picked at least once.
Really envious of all y'all that are going to be there tonight. My Jeep is having bigtime issues so I'll be watching this from home instead of Cassell.
VT - 20. O/U 140.
VT, under
I'm thinking 75-50
edit: VT covered, and DAMN YOU PEDULLA
And I'm in.
Come on now, don't fade away to the left hand big man!
Hate the shot selection so far. Come on now. Flow.
Lead feet tonight so far
They look ok on the defensive side. Offensively, they are in quick sand. No ball movement. Even on the Alleyne jumper, four other guys around the 3 point line not moving. That isn't Mike Young basketball.
At least I did not miss much watching the soccer team advance. Seems like we need more patience on offense. Maybe the substitution will settle us down.
Mutts has an Oop-Dunk. All is right with the world.
Pedula shows he can feed the big man. Just not the big man who can score. Big John coming up empty twice.
This is really ugly offensive basketball by both teams.
Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
I want to see Aluma grinding down in the low post, getting position and finishing with an attitude. Not enough of that the last game and a quarter.
Nice play off Mutts. Shocked opposing coaches don't lose their mind when their players don't make him go left.
Let's see if they can keep the energy when we pull out a bit. They are not deep enough. Bet we pull away because of depth despite the poor play.
Keve reeeeeally really really wants a three-pointer.
Been wide fucking open on them and he's historically not been this bad just not falling
This has been very ugly so far
Yeah - this is hard to watch right now.
Someone needs to elbow nguessan in the face again so we wake up.
I'm not watching the game, just perusing through the comments to see what is going on. Based on what I am reading, has the BB team picked up Fuente or Corn?
Sleepy start but they woke up in the last two minutes and went on an 11-0 run.
Agreed. Finished the half with some sense of urgency.
Well that's one way to end the half
These flat starts are gonna get us eventually.
Also what is our fee throw percentage and why does it seem to be not good every year??
Definitely in the ACC. I wonder if its a playing down to competition situation.
So as it turns out when we pay to our strengths on offense we're pretty good. BTW our strengths don't include our center chucking threes and sloppy passing.
Keve needs to be able to hit those open 3s for this offense to really keen up imo
And certainly if he wants a shot at the next level
We need to feed Keve inside. Let him feel it there and then step out. Murphy has great on ball skills, but his passing is BIG step down from Bede. I am concerned. Not in this game, but it's a big are for improvement.
BUTTS FOR MUTTS
The all conference names team is the highlight of the game so far, Paul Paulie who played at DePaul get outta here
Leaky Black got my vote
Jack McBrayer could play Storm Murphy in the biopic
N'Guessan. Oh my!
NGUESSAN WITH AUTHORITY LETS GOOOOOO
HOKIES!!!!
Did anyone else see Hunter snap that guys mask on his face haha
Dream came to play tonight. He's been good on both sides
I agree. His touch had been a bit off the first couple games. He has some odd mechanics but when he's feeling it, he just does NOT miss.
Being good at the shooty hoops is real fun y'all!!!!
DNG filling up the stat sheet!
I don't really watch basketball, but I feel like this game is going...good?
Also, I feel like Storm Murphy almost has the build of a wrestler having never seen him before. His upper half looks so muscular on a smaller body.
Impressed, quite impressed by how the bench closed the game.
Well that second half was different than the first. Really need to clean up the first half though
30 pt win. FAM!
St FAMcis amirite???
What I love about this team is how into the game the starters were during garbage time. On thier feet, yelling excited when thier teammates scored. Great chemistry with this bunch.
Sluggish start but got it going in the second. Let's GOOOOOO!!!
Ugh...im in vegas and had the parlay on VT moneyline and the under ar 139
Sucks, but I'm an official member of the overs club. It's just more fun to root for points!
MY in his post game saying he told the players if they passed up an open shot he would take them out is the complete opposite of Corny's approach to controlling every aspect of the QB. Love how MY coaches and I hope Whit can find a football coach who can do the same!
Mike Young to his players:
Did you see he was upset with Pedula for passing out of an easy layup to, I think, Maddox for an open all-day 3 as they went into a timeout huddle? Gave him a little tap on the back of the head. π
Technically, it's exactly the same as Corn. CMY predetermined the outcome (shot) without seeing how the play developed.
However, in this case, it's giving the players the freedom to fail (miss) which is the opposite of Corn.
Love this team, so much fun to watch..BUT...these slow starts we've had the last two games aren't going to cut it against better competition
