Watching the next-VT-head-coach bowl, and just based on score it looks like Napier>Freeze.
I was not blown away by Napier and his team but Freeze was not impressive at all.
The Louisiana defense was fantastic. The offense didn't put up huge yardage because they had 5 or 6 turnovers and gave the O a short field all night. Ran right over Liberty.
Maybe both coaches were distracted all week fielding calls from Whit's office.
The one thing I noticed that I did not like was the use of heavy link chain as a reward for a good defensive play - smacks too much of the obnoxious Miami chain.
Now we need Marshall and Louisiana to play in the final to pick our new coach.

We knew the offense was bad going in, but at least they found a little bit of a rhythm with Blumrick and the run game. The defense was completely pathetic tonight. No pressure from the DL, constantly rushing only 3 or 4, soft coverage, and leaving our corners to be burnt on islands all night. Very disappointing from J Ham.

Even when it was glaringly obvious our CB were getting toasted and Miami was targeting Rambo 80% of the time, we never helped on Rambo at all.

Guys I'm not gonna lie I didn't even watch the game...probably the first time since I was 8 or 9 (I did record it off course). I went to dinner with the family...and then we came back and I turned my phone off. We watched Return of the Jedi as a family and it was amazing. We have now watched all three of the "first" movies over the last many weekends (starting with coming home after the Syracuse game). It had nothing to do with my love for the Hokies I/we just needed a break. Of course I just turned my phone on to see the inevitable...my choice was correct and it made for a great Saturday night. Next week we are watching episode one....I've never seen my 6 year old son (and even 4 year old daughter to some extent before her ADD kicks in) more excited and into something. I was pretty happy with the rushing stats last night, but not necessarily the way we achieved it. 227 yards, 43 rushes, 5.3 ypc, when Miami knew that running was our only legit threat to move the ball. A different OC and passing QB (all else equal) and I think we are a much different machine on offense.
