Lane Stadium Voicemail Message from CBP

Anybody else getting a phone call/voicemail message from 'LANE STADIUM' with a "Hey Hokie Nation, it's Coach Pry and I'm excited to be here and we need all of you" recorded message from CBP??

I mistakenly answered the phone instead of letting it go to voicemail to save the recording. Engagement is 💯 so far

Update with the transcript of the message (thanks skippybpm)

"Hey Hokie Nation-this is your new head football coach Brent Pry. i wanted to give you a quick shout and let you know how excited I am to get started. We can't thank you enough for your continued support; you play a huge role in why this is home-Lane stadium and Blacksburg are truly a special place and we need you right here with us this fall"

I must be the outlier, but I have never received a single call from Tech since I graduated in 2013. Granted, I've changed phone numbers 3 times since then so they probably don't have the current one.

2013 alum as well and also have never once received a call from Virginia Tech. I'm sure they saw my GPA and were like, "Yep, not getting any money out of this guy."

"What kind of person would throw away a perfectly good dog?"

Yeah, me neither. Tech actually still sends mail for me to my parents house and I have not live there in 25 years.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Nope nothing, was it a 434 or 540 number i should be looking for?

It's the ticket office main line. It came up as 'LANE STADIUM' on my phone.

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

for me it came as potential spam on caller id and vm said 540 231 6731

Same here, I listened to it live.

Coach Pry called me from the ticket office.

If you play it, they will win.

We let the call go to voicemail and thought we maybe missed out on a personal call. So good to know we didn't miss out on anything by letting it go to voicemail. Most likely only to recent donators/season ticket holders. Pretty damn cool though

It's still a robot call. They should send it to everyone they have a number for. We bought tickets to a USCe game three years ago and still get voicemails from them once a month letting us know about gifting opportunities and reasons to do so. They emails after a win are a good start, but if you send enough stuff often enough people will give more than if you wait for them to want to buy tickets. I'm a recent donor, but not a season ticket holder, and have not received one. They have my number - they should have called.

They should send it to everyone they have a number for.

Hard disagree. Send it to people who have recently shown interest in receiving such contact. Season ticket holders, recent donors, etc. Otherwise it is just more spam. I bought tickets to a bowl game from Cincinnati once, I don't want a phone call from Luke Fickell.

I do art stuff.

Send it with an option to opt out in the future, just like the emails. If people get irked over something once a month, they are not likely to give anyway, and will go to the trouble to opt out. But if people see it and say "I wish I could" like we hear on the TKPC, sooner or later they do. Lack of messaging is one of our biggest issues in fund raising. When in doubt go bigger, and back up if you have to.

Yep, got it just before noon. Pretty awesome. This guy is doing all the right stuff so far. X's and O's aside, the attitude and engagement he controls is going to be a big part of his success, and he's been knocking that shit outta the park to date. I hope it continues and we can fill this staff with like minded people. Let's fucking go.
