Brian Kelly, one man coaching staff.
The LSU flairs on reddit are saying this guy lost his touch and the team has been suffering the last 2 yeara. I cant tell if thats copium or reality
While that could be true, I'd counter with I'm not sure LSU fans have ever been in touch with reality.
With all the shit it sounds like Orgeron was up to, and to some extent sounds like letting his team get away with, who knows, maybe the S&C coach was trying to distance himself from that some?
As others mentioned, there's culture fit, results (which sounds like there's been plenty of good results), and extending the mentality of the HC (which seems like Pry is really big on). Worst case, I'd at least talk to the guy.
In modern-day CFB, the coach and S&C trainer must be 100% aligned. The S&C coach probably spends more time with student-athletes than the coach does over the season. He is the coach's #1 culture officer.
So, (1) just because he's qualified doesn't mean he's a culture fit for Brian Kelly, and (2) just because he's qualified doesn't mean he's a culture fit for Brent Pry.
Not being a culture fit with Brian Kelly is probably a good thing, because it probably means he didn't kill a kid.
He's from Tennessee so he probably has a real southern accent.
I am interested to see if we make a change here. I'm interested in Shannon Turley since he is a VT grad and from the region.
My best friend went to college with him...really cool dude. Would love to see him back at VT, but at the same time his family is really enjoying Boulder.
Here is a good article on Shannon when he was being brought on at Colorado.
He had popped up on my radar long ago when he was at Stanford. Obviously I do not know what he did but the fact he left in a hurry is a red flag.
I could see loving Boulder. I have lots of family out there. However, I'd pass on those snow storms and forest fires.
I would be very disappointed if Hilgart is back next year.
The flexing pictures looked great and all but didn't translate all to the field.
Is Nick Acree still a Mack truck?

Holy #$*% that's a big dude!
Don't remember him? Just FYI while he was here he got BIGGER:
I definitely remember him, and I remember that he'd gotten big, but not sure the pictures I'd seen of him did him justice for how big he really is! I remembered he'd been injured, and found he tore his ACL, but don't remember much news on his production at Tech. Was he injured more than the ACL?
I honestly don't know. I know he started at DT, wasn't a natural football player, moved to OL (I think), got hurt, joined S&C staff at one point.
I always thought the what could've been with him. I was on campus then and wish he could've been a natural fit. Nice guy when I spoke to him the few times I was able to.
Yes but has been working at diploma U n none football job up the road.
Not anymore, MMA training now and looks even more terrifying than ever because he's cut cut now
I just refer to him as "Sir"
A certain previously employed coach claimed "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane."
Not sure why it didn't translate to the field, but in person the dude was a beast
Is he still alive? He probably refused to go up in the tower.....
We've got some room on the Prype train!
Leg for the Dumb and Dumber pull. It's about time I turned my mind off and just sat back and laughed at that movie again.
So, Kelly's daughter was on the social medias crying about how it will be tough to go to class at ND now that her dad bolted and everyone hates him.
It took absolutely every goddamned drop of restraint I have not to troll her and say something like, "I bet the kid your dad killed finds it hard to go to classes too."
No reason to troll her because her dad's a shithead, but ooooooooh, I thought about it.
Yeah, I mean, she didn't do anything, man.
I know that. I said that. And neither did I. How's the view from that horse?
That escalated quickly.
Thought about it. Realized it was fucked up because she's innocent in the whole thing. Didn't pull the trigger. Tell you all about it. Get dragged.
It's okay APFOW, we all have those thoughts sometimes, it's our actions though that make us who we are : )

Allow me a moment in the trust tree. In addition to being a diehard Hokie, I was raised a lifelong ND fan (in my blood). Sorry.
But- it is so good to be able to finally join you all in saying I can't believe that shithead Brian Kelly killed that poor kid. And what's up with that fake southern accent. What an f-ing phoney loser.
Ahhh, now I feel better.
We can all donate some O&M blood and let you get a full flush. You'll get better mileage.
As an internet horse...
The view is rational, sensible, and - for the people who they themselves didn't do anything wrong - totally innocent.
Can you please come back to the Jumbotron? I miss you. Thx.
I never said his view was irrational or nonsensical. It seemed to me like piling on when I essentially pointed to his exact argument as to why I stood down. But keep beating your departed kin.
Dude.
@joey25 TBH I don't like how we've always put a laser focus on Brian Kelly's totally obvious failures and I'm in cahoots with the notion that children shouldn't pay for the sins of their parents, despite some of the responses you've already received.
I haven't legged your comment because it's at 25 as of this writing.
I've said this myself twice now. But let's keep harping on it like I didn't. FFS, despite making the mistake of telling you all what was going through my head for a brief moment...not what I DID...simply a silly thought...I have been in complete agreement with this.
The dude probably didn't have as good of a southern accent as Kelly so he didn't want him
Tommy Moffitt strengthens kids, rather than killing them.
LSU was crushed by injuries the last two seasons. I don't know how much of that is the coach's fault and how much is bad luck, but a new coach probably doesn't want to blame bad luck.
I think the real reason they parted with Coach O was because of mishandling multiple sexual assault incidents within the program. Having a down year was just an easier PR cop-out.
I had read that he had been running practices pretty unprofessionally too. His girlfriend always around at practices, her kid allowed to do somethings in practice with the players, etc.
I heard he was hitting on wives of people who could get him fired. All hearsay though.
I meant the S&C coach, but yes. There was a whole lot going on that was bad. Van Lathan said it best the other day- "we as Louisianans always liked how Coach O was one of us, but it turns out he was a little too much of one of us".
Brian Kelly killed a kid.
Apparently, he fled the state of Indiana and is hiding out from the authorities. Reports of someone spotted in Baton Rouge fitting his description, but that individual has a thick southern accent so it couldn't be BK, could it?
