With the Miami coaching change now official, that makes 4oo7 coaches changing in the coastal.
VT-> Pry
UVA -> ???
Duke -> ???
Miami -> Cristobal
With this shakeup who do we expect to hit the ground running and grab success in the coastal power vacuum? Please let it be us!
I have been very encouraged by everything coming out of our program and Pry this week, but am wary of other dormant programs finding their stride as well.

I'm just sitting over here praying that UVA hires Diaz
Think they're going with Poindexter. Should be interesting.
Wonder if he can negotiate what bronco couldn't
Poindexter, Huff, Elliott, and Rahne seem like the top four right now.
Why be the UVA head coach when he could be our defensive coordinator
You meant to say Butch Davis, right? Because that would be hilariously awful.
Seen Tony Elliot linked to both Duke and UVA. No guarantees there obviously, but there's some smoke. Smoke around Poindexter to UVA as well.
I'm all for Clemson losing both of their coordinators.
Clemson Clemsoning their coaches.
I hope Elliot goes to Duke. He could be a thorn in our side at UVA.
If Poindexter ends up at UVA that could make for some interesting Commonwealth Cups in years to come, two former PSU co-DC's going against each other.
So more classics like when we beat them 10-0 a few years ago? I could live with that
As long as we win, I'm fine with the rivalry being more interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing the Commonwealth Cup impacting the Coastal championship more often than not. Again, as long as we win.
Edit: Additional thought. I think it's more fun to beat UVA when they're good. Like no matter how good a team they have they still can't beat us.
counterpoint: I dont care how good UVA is when we beat them
Beating UVA is always fun, I just find that their tears are more delicious when they thought they had a chance to win.
Generally agree, but didn't hate the 38-0 bro game either.
that was a year they were ranked and thought they would win. iirc the winner wkn the coastal.
Ah, I think you're correct.
Duke: If Duke actually interviewed Tony Elliot it would be a really ACC shakeup. Clemson losing their AD, OC, and DC would seemingly take some time to recover from. Also would mean that Duke is actually trying to stay/be relevant in football.
Miami: Cristobal immediately brings a recruiting threat but that will take some time to manifest and can he actually do something with the recruits?
UVA: UVA's best move is probably Poindexter he's unproven and it doesn't sound like they're committing to keeping up with the arms race. I don't think any other name that has come out makes too much sense for them
Like what I see so far with Pry we really need to know who the OC is going to be though.
Pretty much none of this speculation matters until 2023 when we start to see programs materialize.
I still wouldn't be shocked to see Jeff Monken (HC at Army) end up at Duke. Mentioned it in another thread, but I think Elliott may be smart to look at a different job if he wants to prove he's capable of succeeding Dabo at Clemson whenever that time comes. Duke is a hard job, and Monken has proven to be successful at a difficult job given service academy limitations.
That's the knock on Cristobal at Oregon - he hasn't been able to translate all that talent when he comes up against really good coaches (look no further than Utah dominating them twice this season). He might also have been beating up on a bad PAC-12 the last few years.
Depends on who you believe. Jerry Ratliffe, who is pretty tied in to UVA athletics, had this to say about the potential hire of Poindexter:
That's anecdotal of course, but he's the guy who would excite their fanbase the most and would probably lead to real money being put into the program.
I'd love to see it happen. Lane Stadium North could use some better seating. Maybe some wider walkways with easier access for field storming.
A new color scheme of Chicago Maroon to go with the nearly right color orange they already have should be on the agenda.
The last time there was a major coaching shakeup, VT won the Coastal.
How much longer is UNC going to retain Mack Brown? He'll be 71 at the start of next season, and to date appears to be hitting below his mark in the W/L column. His demeanor on the sidelines looks subdued and with the changing landscape of NIL, transfers, etc one has to think he's considered hanging it up. I can't imagine he lasts longer than a few more years.
I'm actually kind of surprised nobody has pilfered any of the UNC staff as well as they recruit
I wonder if that staff also sticks around a bit to try and figure out if they have a shot at Mack's job when he finally quits. After he leaves it's possible there's a bigger exodus if that's the case.
I figured UNC hired Mack with the intentions for him to rebuild the machine and then hand it off in a few years.
Absolutely. That's certainly the plan.
But they also stumbled quite hard this past year.
Tech has taken the first steps to increase it's commitment to football. Cristobal going to Miami only emphasizes that drive for increased investment. I think it'll keep VT from getting too comfortable.
College Football is better when VT vs Miami has big game implications
Pepperidge Farm Remembers
Should be interesting to see how well da U recruits with out Nike in the back pocket
If Diaz wasn't allowed to take the Turnover Chain with him, he should sue
🤔Is it too late for a career change, in my life?

The new coaching market minimum is insane.
To me, buyouts are more insane than the salaries. Nick Saban could get $50M/year, I think it would be worth it.
The buyouts on the other hand... Paying someone $20m to NOT coach?! That's insanity.
This is somewhat concerning. Fortunately, we don't often recruit head-to-head with Miami.
Sheesh...
Purchasing a new head football coach is on par with purchasing a vehicle right now...
S/... sort of ...
And just like that, #2 becomes #3.
Miami will have the highest coaching pool in the ACC.
Wowza. In addition to the $8 million per year for the head coach.
Yeah, but the problem they'll always have is that they're a small school. If they aren't ranked and winning, does the money to fund all that dry up?
from this article https://247sports.com/college/miami/Article/Report-Miami-Hurricanes-Football-is-set-to-significantly-raise-the-annual-football-budget-President-Julio-Frenk-175617928/
So probably not.
Probably should use some of that money to build a stadium closer to campus and update their facilities, (I could be wrong here), which probably are out of date.
Miami has a donor who is worth $20billion and plans to buy and relocate Coral Gables High School and build a 50k seat stadium and an 8 story garage on the property. The donors and admin at The U have big plans for the future. Here is the article...https://247sports.com/college/miami/Article/Miami-Hurricanes-Football-So...
Does Jeff Bezos have kids? Can we get one of them to enroll at Tech?
Doubtful

I guess hookers and blow will never go out of style.
Especially in South Florida
With this shakeup who do we expect to hit the ground running and grab success in the coastal power vacuum?
It has to be unc, right? based on talent currently on the roster, and incoming talent, plus all the seniors pitt is losing, unc has to be the one expected to dominate the next few years. also, i'll believe it when i see it ;-)
They were expected to dominate this year, too; with three (I'm giving Cutcliffe a pass here) craptacular coaches who couldn't hold their jobs (or just plan quit).
Let's see...Florida school poaches Oregon head coach known for his Florida recruiting connections and prowess...
No way that can fail...
Gonna be fun to watch. I don't think lack of talent has been their problem. However, I'm more than a little surprised at the relatively low number of commits right now among Miami, UF, FSU, Clemson, and UGA from Miami's traditional footprint. Are they all going up to IMG?
I agree -- Miami's probably has been removing their head from their butt.
I really really don't want LOLUVA to hire Huff. That could spell trouble for us in recruiting.
One positive I see for Huff or Elliot is that it would be a terrible job in terms of jumpstarting your career. UVA is not a destination job and it is a tough place to win, never a stepping stone for a successful coach. And depending on how you look at it you're likely 6th in line for any high rated 3 star in the region, farther back for anyone higher rated. And your fan base sucks, no ones ever engaged..
..I better stop this post could end up being way too long
Elliott is out of the running for UVA. Poindexter is likely the guy.
UVA allegedly hiring someone named Pointdexter, you can't make this kind of ish up lol
