At least VT football has us top 5 in something
#1 in the ACC!!!!
I'll drink to that!
Can't leg this anymore, as it's at +25, so here are two more:
Coach Pry got hired a week ago and we're already back in the top 5!
I think Fuente deserves some credit in the current ranking.
Guess they're not counting rails as like six drinks in one like they should. Committee really screwing us out of a playoff spot.
Can confirm.
Can confirm, I had to switch to whiskey to feel good about the late Fuente years.
Surprised Kansas isn't number 1
They have basketball to look forward to
3.6 drinks is just breakfast on game day.
I was assuming those little bottles were 40's.
Actually though who only has 4 drinks at a tailgate? I don't think I've ever seen someone stop that quickly.
Are that many people rolling up 1-2 hours before kickoff?
Four bourbon and gingers is about my normal pregame. But that equals about a half a fifth.
My guess is this is a 'purchased within the stadium' type number. Not reflective of actual drinks consumed.
It says "drinks per game" so I'm assuming during the game...
Nebraska doesn't serve alcohol at the game and is a dry campus so definitely not purchased in stadium
The Fuente era drove a lot of us to drink...erm, more so
Noticed UVA isn't listed.
Supply chain issues with Zima I think kept many fans from buying booze in the stadium. Also fans actually needing to be in the stadium to buy booze helps too.
They haven't made Zima since LOLUVA had a winning streak against us.
Best avatar ever!
I skew that average
3.6? Double it.
Top 5 !!😃
I can certainly understand why Nebraska is #1 on this list.
I can't always say that I directly impacted Virginia Tech in national polls, but I'll take full ownership on this one. You're welcome.
nice to see ya back around lately since the new coach announcement, it's been a while
Thanks man, it really has. Feels good to be back with the fam. Life will really get after ya.
You're the reason we're not in the lead??
Damn. They didn't count me.
We are clearly too high on this list. The list doesn't even include butt-chugging tennessee.
Tennessee threw all their drinks on the field during the Ole Miss game....
I thought that was their mustard.
Yeah I can confirm both of these seem accurate.
My Marshall friends and I all visited VT for the Pitt game back in October. We have all experienced WVU multiple times, and we know the reputation WVU has for drinking and partying. VT absolutely blew WVU out of the water. It was impressive. And better yet, VT fans don't burn couches and make opposing fans fear for their safety (except maybe that one UNC fan that went 1 on 10 in the VT student section).
We got work to do fellas. I will not settle. This is your time. Now go out there and take it!
Bruh...you ever actually been to Nebraska? No way anyone is beating them
not with that attitude....
Those are rookie numbers, I feel like many of you youngins are not doing your part
Are they counting kids?
My 6 year old can put an entire case of Capri Suns to bed solo in a pre-game.
Live look at 2HokiesIn1's kid
Gotta turn the giant hamster wheel for the car ride home somehow.
Guess they couldn't find their way to Morgantown...with WVU missing from the list.
Does Morgantown even have internet to respond to internet polls?
Per game? Who are they counting, the dead?
We need to recruit better if we're going to claim that natty.
That number seems low. Like my dad would say when he'd come to games with me sometimes, "The smell of alcohol on campus is so strong you could get contact drunk"
A family friend once told me that back in the day they would sneak bourbon in using ziploc bags because it was less likely to get caught. They would always bring twice as much as they wanted anticipating half to get confiscated when they were going in.
"There were days when all of it got taken and that really sucked. But boy there were days when none of it did and those were pretty great"
Back in the day, students used to just bring in entire fifth bottles of liquor. Many were confiscated and trashed but many made it in.
Wrap flask in paper towel. Tape to inside of leg. That was pretty much my entire undergrad game experience.
Drop flask in cowboy boots. Cover boots with jeans. Buy two cokes; one cold whiskey and coke for first half, one hot whiskey and coke for second half. Never failed.
For cold November games, wear two jackets. Inner jacket hood carried many beers that would be shotgunned in the NEZ stands.
As a freshman in 99 I saw this first hand. The dudes that sat right behind us in the student section (back when we had wooden bleachers) always had at least 4 zip lock bags of bourbon. They always gave us a shot or two in our cups and I'm forever greatful. I'll never forget...the night of the Boston college game the guy that sat right behind me saying over and over "I skipped my job interview to see this game yaaaahhhh!!!" Now
For some reason this senior was wearing a fireman outfit I shit you not...legit fireman's I'm going into the fire garb...anyway those guys were all seniors and helped us break the wooden bleachers and pass them down the stands that night...after many drinks from the zip lock bags🦃🦃🥃🥃🥃....
Challenge accepted!
I was surprised that WVU wasn't listed, but then noticed the "average spend" was a metric, and realized that the average price/drink of a legally bought beverage is probably far higher than that off the record "holler water".......
Yeah, but that "holler water" is better than anything you can buy
Jus sayn
I definitely did not, and would not, say that it isn't better than store bought
How did Duke make the list??? Aren't they too busy camping out waiting to see Coach K?
Do wine spritzers count as drinks for the purpose of this measurement? Pretty sure there's plenty of Duke grads out having brunch on Saturdays at noon during Duke games...
Southern Cal should not even be close to VT on this list. Went to the USC-VT game at FedEx field in the early '90's (back in the day?). Behind my row was all SC fans, in front of me was all VT. A very stark difference. SC crowd was very prim and proper. VT crowd was, well, a pure SW VA style VT crowd. Many emptied ziplocks and drunken debauchery amongst the Hokies. It was almost embarrassing, if it wasn't so pride evoking. Drink more Hokies!!
