I'm getting really nervous about Nnadi. Three people on 247 predicted him to FSU yesterday.
I would worry about that if I saw it happen after his official VT visit, which is coming up this weekend. He visited FSU last month (?) and tOSU recently, so if I had to venture a guess, I'd say tOSU didn't fare as well as FSU. Let's see what happens in a few days when he visits the good guys.

I hope when he visits he gets the memo on how important he would be to Tech. At FSU he would just be another defensive tackle, at Tech he would be a legend if he is as good as people think he will be (which I think he will be one of the best D-lineman Tech has ever gotten if he does commit.)
Yeah, and we do have a couple of aces to play as well (we are lookin at you, Coaches Foster and Gray)
It's a knee jerk, I guess. I know better than to follow the rags, especially about things I have less than no control over.

As for what we can do to convince Nnadi, I think it will be tough if he hasn't already made up his mind to be a Hokie. The kid has visited a ton of times. This is going to be his official, but its not like Blacksburg and Hokie sports will be new to him.

Whoever the new coach is when Beamer retires HAS to remove that trophy case. It's just embarrassing at this point.
I think I understand your point of view. The trophy case's presence is jinxing our ability to get the trophy. That's superstitious, and superstition is huge in sports..especially football. I disagree.
I think the trophy case symbolizes a goal. It says "Hey, we might just be a small school in the mountains with not a whole lot of tradition, but we have an achievable goal of getting a national title!" That is a very real possibility for us, which is a big deal considering we're not one of the 'powerhouse' programs that you see typically in contention for the trophy. Frank Beamer put VT on the map and we don't have anywhere near the resources that the power programs have. I still believe that VT will one day achieve that goal. I would love to see it happen before Beamer is gone, although I do have my doubts. Still, he has done a great job building the foundation and I'll bet that the next AD will be able to put somebody else in position to get there.
That being said, I don't agree with your opinion but being as it is an opinion, and not an offensive one, I don't think it's fair for you to have been downvoted. I went ahead and evened you out.

For what its worth, at least for the time being, the trophy case isn't even in there. They recently renovated that area and a lot of stuff is gone and it is a lot simpler layout in there.
NNadi has been the hardest kid to get a read on during his recruiting process. Hes VERY quiet about the schools. Just because a coach thinks nnadi is the leader doesn't mean he is. We have to be patient here and hope for the best.
Agreed. I can only imagine how many people come at these highly ranked recruits just hammering them with questions. How many times have any of us just said something to get out of a stupid conversation with some annoying person? I know my 18 year old self would have been tossing out names of universities that may or may not exist.
Someone on the FSU board posted something to the effect "the worst kept secret in the state of Virginia is that Nnadi already committed to the FSU coaches."
If he already committed to them, why would he wait until signing day to make an announcement?
Another expert on 247 predicted Javon Harrison to FSU yesterday also. (along with 3 experts picking FSU for Nnadi)

Hopefully they can. The thing that sticks out in my mind is the way Nnadi has scheduled his visits. FSU first, then tOSU, VT, and for some inexplicable reason, UVA. It's almost as if he's telegraphing it - FSU is the favorite, but I dare you guys to change my mind. If we can do that, we'll get him. Here's hoping.
Guys, not only did FSU win the NC but its probably the easiest Route to the NFL, does anyone expect Jameis to be back for his Junior year.. Heck NO so it could be that FSU gives those guys the path to NFL stardom as well.
Also with timmy jernigan leaving there is an easy way for him to get in and play right away, not saying that VT doesn't offer that opportunity but look at the bigger picture outside of playing time.

Michael Vick didn't return for his junior year and was drafted #1, so VT is clearly the easiest route the the NFL if you ask me.
that's funny MV7 is the best player that VT has had drafted in years other than Kam. Its all about current situation, FSU currently just won the NC. There is so much hype/media attention for this upcoming year. why not go to FSU.
Meanwhile at VT.. New OL Coach, Lost every decent bowl game in the past couple years and is trying to get back to ACC dominance.

All facts to the contrary, especially for those in the front seven. Our DL, especially DTs, seldom make it to the NFL, and we move a lot of them to the OL.

A big negative VT could play to Nnadi would be the Jameis situation.. do you want to go to school where those rumors/things are happening. Also based on experience Tallahasse is a shithole (sorry for cussing) nothing but nasty college bars and kids that think they're richer than Bill Gates.
We don't play the negative card. Beamer says so in his book. He won't let his program become one that bashes others. He wants to win a player's commitment by selling the benefits of his program.
I'm sure Beamer doesn't play the negative card but I'm sure he compares them.. whether or not he states it as a negative I have no idea
Comparison, yes. Playing time discussion, yes. Rumormongering about a kid who was cleared of wrongdoing just to make it seem like FSU is a terrible place, no.
Sorry to get a little off topic, but I just finished his book. Great read. Very insightful as to how he operates. Inside info on Vick's and Cornell Brown's recruitments was fantastic.
Guess this is one situation where we can hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which gets filled first.
