Anyone interested Senior Bowl practice is on the NFL network right now. Did about 5 minutes on Logan Thomas.

How did he look in those 5 minutes?

I assume this means he's fully recovered from his Sun Bowl concussion. Not that I'd expect anything different 3 weeks after the fact.

Yeah I'm sure Thomas was good to go in a week or less. I'm more curious about how Kyle Fuller is looking and if he can shake off all that rust.

Shit. That's not good. I really hope his career isn't Danny Coale 2.0 =(

Kyle was one of 19 health/injury scratches, the guy who runs the senior really trashed the 9 guys who scratched who are healthy. Logan looked good passing, one analyst said he is biggest puzzle in the draft, anywhere from round 2 to un drafted.

Couple of tweets from the practice today. Granted, these guys seem kinda sketchy, but they claim to be employed by some scout website/company.

Thanks, have trouble figuring out this "fancy" computer stuff using my iPhone.

No problem! I am not sure if you can embed it from your phone, honestly.

Those are some crazy cleats!

They kinda look like the UA highlights, but there's something that's not quite right for them to be those. Maybe some new fangled nike thing?

When I went job hunting out of college, I did all of my resumes on this really screaming day glow yellow paper, and I laminated them. I got called for a lot of interviews. Several of them mostly wanted to get a look at the guy who used the crazy resume paper. But...hey...once the door is open just a little, it's much easier to push the rest of the way open.

Maybe that's kind of the idea behind the cleats.

Leonard. Duh.

Except almost everyone else pictured is wearing them.

Yeah...I saw that after I went off on my soliloquy. It was late, and I really like my resume story.

Leonard. Duh.

It's like the analyst don't do any research, LT threw for over 1000 yds and lead his team to the playoffs in high school. Yet all we hear is "VT tried to turn a TE into a QB".

Wait, why is LT practicing at the UVa spring game?

+1000 to you sir

Surely you jest....there are twice as many people in the stands than there were at the LOLUVA spring game.

I said before the season started that regardless of how Thomas's senior season played out, Thomas was going to destroy every offseason work out opportunity. Unquestionably the biggest arm. Every NFL team that looks at the tape will see the struggles the offense had this season, and Logan's accuracy wasn't the problem.

Someone will reach for him. He'll be a day 2 pick, and I wouldn't be flabbergasted if someone gambled and took him in the late first. His stock is going nowhere but up, especially because I don't think there are many top-notch NFL arms in this draft.

I have to say, while I think he will get drafted...flabbergasted is precisely the word I would use to describe my reaction if he were to be nabbed in the first round

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

I'm not saying that I'd draft him in the first.

All i'm saying is that I could understand how a GM and coach whose backs are against the wall could talk themselves into reaching for him, especially when you factor in where his stock will be by the time the draft rolls around. Skeleton drills, the combine, the interviews... Does anyone doubt that Thomas can crush these things? Nobody will see their stock rise more over the next few weeks than Thomas.

I mean, Tim Tebow got drafted in the first round. Thomas in a work out will make Tebow look pedestrian.

I'm going to root harder for Thomas than I have for any other Hokie in the pros.

I just hope wherever Logan goes, he doesn't necessarily get forced right into the starting job. A year on the bench could be invaluable to him.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

And whoever drafts Kyle (despite his injury) will be getting the steal of the draft. Dude was the best corner in the country before he got hurt. Could be an impact player at nickel for someone immediately, ability to come up and tackle is a huge weapon against spread teams with mobile QB's.

Anybody that expects to play 3+ games against the likes of Kapernik, Wilson, RGIII, Newton next year needs to give him a serious look.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

If I hadn't watched bits of the film today, I would not have believed so wholeheartedly with you. Logan looked better then Tahj and Morris, strictly from an accuracy standpoint. On simple out routes Logan was markedly better and Tahj and Morris missed badly a few times. That is believed to be one of LT3s weaknesses and he was doing well.

The NFL analysts on during the practice say that LT is the most polarizing figure ever (who would have thought). People swear he is going to be a TE, some swear the 7th round or undrafted, some think top 100. You are going to hear mixed reviews of LT3 throughout the process, but as long as he plays/tests comparably to other QBs, he will be the 3-5th QB off the board. What was thought to be a loaded draft has become a very weak one.

Here is the video: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-senior-bowl/0ap2000000315805/Logan-Thomas-...

Thank you, this is my exact point. QB's are always going to be taken earlier than other positions. If the other QB's go early, it's not unreasonable for a GM to think he has a better chance of turning a big body with a big arm into an NFL QB than the other mid-tier QB's in the draft.

Thomas has a higher ceiling than basically anyone at the QB position simply because of his arm strength.

I could see the Steelers or the Bucs take him off the board to groom him as a back up, or, shoot any team looking for a little depth without spending much coin.
He has such a potential upside if put in the right situation and given time.
Quick stat: 48 different QB's started games in the NFL so far in the 2013 season.
There's a place for Logan.

The Bucs? If they take Logan Thomas, it won't be to groom him as a back-up.

The Steelers took Landry Jones last year in the 4th round to "groom as a backup" but god damn I would love if they took Logan.

I really don't know why the Steelers took Landry. That just seemed a stretch pick.

They needed new backups with Batch retiring a Leftwich not getting resigned but yeah I wasn't a fan of picking Landry either, especially in the 4th round.

I highly doubt he is going to go undrafted. Hell, if he's still on the board by the fifth round I'd be surprised. Because around that time a lot of teams are almost randomly choosing players and if possibly the best athlete of the class is on there they'd take him just because of that because the only other options are the 17th best WR, 12th best RB, 20th best CB, etc. (Yes, I made those up but you get the point.)

Logan Thomas career plan
-kill it in the senior bowl
-kill it in the combine
-kill it in his pro day
-kill it at the draft (get drafted high)
-kill it in mini camps
-kill it in preseason
-kill it in regular season
-kill it in the playoffs
-kill it in the Super Bowl
-go to hall of fame

You forgot the last one:

-kill it as a head coach

Out of curiosity does anyone know how many head coaches were HoF caliber players?

I think it's more like one of those "If you can't play, you coach" situations, usually.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Usually, sure. The first guy that came to mind for me was Mike Ditka. It would be interesting to see who else is on the list.

Art Shell is a good one too.

"I'll put a quote here to distract you from my inane comment."-Me

Not many...and almost all were fairly unsuccessful except Ditka. I'm sure I'm missing a few, but off the top of my head:

Mike Ditka (already mentioned
Bart Starr
Art Shell (already mentioned)
Norm Van Brocklin
Mike Singletary
Otto Graham
Forrest Gregg
Joe Schmidt

If Russ Grimm ever gets a HC gig, you could add him to the list. Ozzie Newsome, John Elway, and a few others have been GMs or team presidents.

Coach Ditka versus a hurricane, who would win?

Trick question, the hurricane's name is "Hurricane Ditka".

He's no good to me dead.

Is it the big Ditka or the little Ditka?

"I'll put a quote here to distract you from my inane comment."-Me

You'll know all you need ta know 'bout Ditka in two weeks when Da Bears take the trophy. They'll be favored, sure.

Yeah, that's how I've always thought it was. Just curious about who would be on that list. Maybe back in the day when players didn't have multi million dollar salaries.

This. Nothing would make me happier than to see Tyrod and LT3 being successful starters in the NFL in a few years.

Spenge the Man. Go Hokies!

I must admit hearing Zumwalt is disappointing makes me pretty happy. Still rooting for Gayle to do well!

Maybe his neck is just a little sore.

Maybe I could help with that, give him some tips to deal with it.

Maybe someone told him he couldn't spear with his helmet.

Stop it with the Negative Waves!

I'm worried about Ky Fuller.

A little off topic but how are schools/players determined to play on the North or South team? I was expecting it to pertain directly to location but noticed the following:

South: UVA & Liberty
North: Virginia Tech (ok wanted to beat up on the Wahoos anyway), Clemson (uhh South Carolina seems pretty southern), Miami (geographically speaking, doesn't get any farther south on the east coast)

So yeah, how does this work? Anyone? Bueller?

I'd love an answer to this ^^^ I was just as confused in the East / West Shriner's game...

Florida...The southernmost state with the northernmost attitude.

Leonard. Duh.

Easy for the Florida one. It's the least southern, southern state.

Some good and bad reports for Logan today- which makes no sense. I guess some scouts are looking for him to succeed while some are firmly planted in the ground that he is not a QB prospect worth taking in the first couple of rounds. Once again, it seems like everyone is a NFL draft scout according to their profile, but here are some tweets from "scouts" that were interesting:

I saw multiple people report that LT3 looked much better on mechanics and foot work than anyone else.

In the end, this sums it up well.

I watched the hour of practice the NFL Network had on the North team and they showed LT3 a little bit. He didn't look great (sailed a pass and had the pocket collapse and had to throw on the run, wasn't that bad of a pass) but the wind was crazy today and he is working with new WRs. After the overthrow he went over to a coach and WR, so I think it was a mix up. Not enough to really tell anything.

As for James Gayle, he continued to push the pocket on every play. 1v1 and on 11v11 he put pressure on the pocket but struggled to get off the block and get to the QB. He was going against Zack Martin, the top OL at the Senior Bowl though.

Hopefully I can watch more tomorrow with another snow day.

he put pressure on the pocket but struggled to get off the block and get to the QB

Was always the most frustrating part about Gayle. Great motor, great character guy, great athlete... Just never seemed to develop a great move to defeat a blocker one on one consistently.

These guys know about as much about football as the guy at the next bar stool (and sometimes less). It's little wonder their opinions are all over the map -- it's because they really don't know what they're talking about. Why folks put credence into the opinion of a bunch of wannabe, fantasy league blog writers that have watched a few plays of each player is beyond me.

Maybe one day Logan can be the most polarizing figure in all of sports and we can be the hipsters who say we criticized him before it was cool.

"I'll put a quote here to distract you from my inane comment."-Me

What I'm going to do when Logan gets to the pros and someone says he's more of a tight end build.

He was the man, big part of why I love the Braves. Johnson was good last year, but I have doubts about him doing that consistently in the future.

I'm a Yankees fan and I miss Chipper Jones. He was a great player.
