The news of the offer, and being able to commit, was overwhelming for McLain.

"He's in tears," Lord Botetourt coach Jamie Harless said. "Literally."

Four-star Lord Botetourt offensive lineman Gunner Givens signed with the Hokies earlier in the day.

Harless said he and new Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry had been speaking for the last week or so, and Pry brought up McLain and possibly getting him into the fold.

"He's a big, tough, athletic, nasty kid in their backyard," Harless said. "He said they don't want to waste time chasing kids outside of Virginia when they've got kids like this in their own backyard. I think it's a great statement."

Good fucking pickup, type of kid Beamer made his mark with.

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

The one kid he blocks from the 48 to the 50, then hits him again to the 46 before he just tosses someone else. It's so funny and so mean at the same time

OMG the first clip of him playing. I didn't know which one he was then I saw a large human launch someone to the ground, then the dude got up and the large human launched him again, and then some other poor sap was nearby and also got launched into the ground.

Oh that must be him. Nice.

I don't care if this kid pans out for us or not. This is the type of classy move that pays off in the long run. We are making relationships with local kids, their classmates, coaches, and schools. This is what VT is about.
