OT: Spider-Man: No Way Home (Spoilers!)

I figured I'd start a thread for the new movie because I for sure want to talk about it. Saw it last night and it was incredible. Probably goes straight to the top of the list as far as it goes with MCU movies. Share your thoughts!

I am really hoping for Spiderman V Venom movie after the end credit scene

Yeah seems like the symbiote will be introduced somehow. Whether we see another iteration of black suit Spider-Man or the same/a different Eddie Brock coming in as Venom. Either way, I'm glad we'll hopefully have Venom in the MCU

Flash Thompson.

But will it actually be him if he's going to MIT? I'd imagine he plays a lesser role in the next few movies as well as MJ and Ned. Who knows though. I think a new Eddie Brock or some other character is more likely.

The Matt Murdock cameo shocked me. I did not see that coming.

Whadya mean I can't take off my sweater? I'm HOT!

I'd heard the rumors but was not at all expecting it.

I heard the rumors so I was hoping to see more screen time from him

neither did he

I teared up like 3 times. For me, more emotional than End Game.

Pure fan service, absolutely loved it.

My one complaint about the MCU spidey movies was that it never felt like Tom Holland's movie because they were always bringing in other characters, so I was very skeptical about how this would work out. But I think they managed to bring in Tobey and Andrew in a way that added to Toms character rather than took away from it. I still like Homecoming and FFH but this felt the most like a Spider-Man movie to me out of the 3.

The nostalgia factor and references to old movies was pretty fun as well. I'd never been in a theatre where people cheered as much as that movie (including Endgame).

I'm a little iffy on the magic memory wipe at the end of the movie because it feels like it kind of erases 5 movies worth of Spider-Man, but I am looking forward to a more grounded friendly neighborhood Spider-Man now that Sony and Marvel have announced their working on another trilogy.

It doesn't really erase it though. Everything Spider-Man did in the previous MCU films, he still did. What's happened is no one realizes Peter Parker is Spider-Man. The graveside scene is a perfect example. Happy still met May thru Spider-Man, he just doesn't realize he's standing next to dude that's Spider-Man. The magic spell puts up some kind of mental block. It gets wonky if you think about it too much so you just have to roll with it. As for the other non-MCU films, it does technically change them since they "cured" the bad guys and sent them back, but whatever. You just write it off as different timeline stuff and they have no intention of going back to those franchises anyway.

At ther end no one knows Peter Parker at all. They all forgot Peter not spiderman. Not just the link between Peter and spiderman.

Yeah if it just erased the connection of Peter Parker to Spider-Man, MJ and Ned both would have known him in the donut shop

Really have to choose my words carefully when discussing reality-altering spells.

You're right it doesn't erase 5 movies worth of Spider-Man but it does erase 5 movies worth of Peter Parker, since MJ and Ned don't even know him anymore. I do like that he will have to balance his secret identity again (which is a huge part of the character), but wish they could have preserved some of Peter's relationships.

I think the coolest thing it does is that it puts Peter now in a state of total anonymity, as he's supposed to be as Spider-Man. I'm looking forward to seeing him all on his own, being his own super hero rather than living in anyone's (Iron-Man's) shadow.

My son's 18 year old best friend declared it the best Marvel movie to date. High praise from a big MCU fan.

The whole banter between the 3 Spider-Men on the Statue of Liberty about the web shooters was gold lol.

Aunt May said the Uncle Ben line and I swear all the air left my body after I whispered "shit..."

RIP Hot Aunt May

Haha, I basically did the same thing.

"She said the thing! .... Uncle Ben says that though... And uncle Ben always... Uh oh"

I really liked how they executed that entire scene though. When Goblins glider swiped her I thought there was no way she could survive that. Then when she was up and talking I was full of relief that somehow she made it out ok. Then the reality hit that the only thing that was keeping her going was the adrenaline and everything hit that much harder.

How do you repeat a death scene that we've all seen a thousand times? That's how.

Imagine going back in time and telling everyone that the Marisa Tomei Aunt May would be killed by the Willem Dafoe Green Goblin! Everyone would call you crazy!

I loved all the fan service. I cracked up at "I'm something of a scientist myself"

That was great. Also recreating the Spider-Men pointing meme, Tobey telling Andrew that he was Amazing and a few other things.

This was Willam Dafoe's movie. He was a better Villain in this than he was in the original. The guy is straight up the creep.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

He's the perfect Green Goblin. Even when his head was turned on the scene in the apartment, you could tell exactly when Norman was gone and the Goblin took over.

His best performance was def in Speed 2: Cruise Control

Phenomenal performance. Boondock Saints is another film he gets to show case being a psychopath

"There was a firefight!!!"

I love that movie, and he was fantastic in it.

SYMBOLISSSSSSM!

Agreed, him and Andrew Garfield stole the show...I didn't like ASM movies as much as others, but Garfield was a great Spider-Man

I was also very much amused at how quickly Dr Ock was overcome by the Stark Tech.

Did they make mention of Pepper Potts? Kind of weird for Stark Industries to be going through all that and not see her face

Too busy trying to sell goop

This is very accurate. Paltrow just shoots her scenes and pay attentions to nothing else. She doesn't even know who are her co-stars in various movies. But yea, it's mostly because as CEO of goop, she doesn't have much time for movies.

Did any of you guys catch those purple silhouettes at the end, in the tears of the fabric of the universe?

I def saw Scorpion and Rhino. I've read other people seeing Kraven too.

Definitely saw Kraven and Rhino. Scorpion I think as well. Didn't seem like it got close enough for long enough for me to tell anything else but I'm sure there were others. Very interested to see which bad guys they decide to focus on in the next Tom Holland trilogy.

no spoilers but actually liked it. didnt think anything was forced and although not a big fan of fan service this seems to put a nice bow on things.

Saw it today with my son, really enjoyed it. One thing that isn't explained, how is J. Jameson able to transcend universes?

They aren't the same, one obviously had hair

there will always be a douchebag on the news i guess. not a massive jump.

she had her necklace on at the end. huh?!?

I don't think I could imagine anyone besides JK Simmons playing him lol.
