Welcome to another year of me trying to find every Hokie on an NFL football contract. I will try to find every roster move in NFL as best I can. Appreciate the effort you put in to doing this.
If Phillips doesn't get a roster spot anywhere this will be his last year on the list.
Such a shame the XFL had to fizzle out like it did. The man was putting on a clinic in his few games.
I was really hoping that someone would scoop him up after the season he had in the XFL. Fingers crossed that it still might happen!
I'm drinking. Cinci Hokie beat me by 54 seconds.
Great minds think alike!
Cam's currently in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts for those that want to know. It looks like he signed with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in June, but was cut. Then Toronto picked him up but best I can tell, he's on their practice squad.
Is it bad luck or does it show the talent disparity between the XFL, NFL and CFL? It's hard to believe one of the XFL stars can't even get a roster spot.
Has anyone else from the XFL made it onto a NFL roster?
The Panther's #2 QB is PJ Walker, who was Cam's QB in the XFL.
Darryl Tapp- Assistant Defensive Line Coach, 49ers
You know what's bad, I took that list from Hokie Sports last week.
Apparently they also forgot Todd Washington.
Didn't know that about Jeff King, good for him.
I thought Corey Fuller was a GA here? Guess he got a new job
I don't have a link but I read That Reggie Floyd signed with the Titans yesterday.
https://twitter.com/jwyattsports/status/1425867610600755207
Thanks I'll add him tonight.
Looks like Herbert had a pretty good game!
Please use this post for discussing game results, play, other NFL talk. That way when we are 150 comments here I can still information about trades etc. thank you.

Sorry, misunderstood. In this "Hokies in the NFL 2021 Season: Roster" thread, you only want discussions on roster and player status. No playing results.
Football team released Stroman:
That's a huge bummer. According to the article he was on the player unable to participate list and got a settlement. I hope he can get healthy and find a landing spot somewhere.
anybody know the injury details for deablo and keene?
Not sure about Diablo but I think Keene is a knee and out for the year.
Keene is out for year with a knee injury, correct.
not sure what Deablo had, but he's been cleared and activated

Cuts have started. Reggie Floyd, Stroman, Adonis all cut.
Justus Reed and Isaiah Ford both Cut.
Damn Ford had been a contributor
Ford who is inarguably one of the top WR to ever play at VT is unfortunately a dime a dozen type player in the NFL. He would have had the same draft prospects whether he left after his junior year or came back. That's why it still burns me that he, Evans, and Bucky didn't come back for one last ride in 2017.
Evans made the choice going in to the season. He couldn't come back because of academics.
I don't think he would have come back if he had a 4.0
That's sort of how I recall things. I believe he told Fuente before he even arrived he was in for one year then gone. Can't say whether or not his academics were in good standing (maybe he let them slide because he knew it didn't matter), but his plan was one and done with VT regardless.
Joey Slye Cut from Panthers.
Bracing myself for cut news today. This is always one of my least favorite days as a Hokie fan.
Only NFL news I'm waiting on for cuts now is Trey Edmunds. Rest of expected cuts have been announced. Don't think (but you never know this year) there will be any others after him.
Trey Edmunds cut. Now it's time for practice squad or FA signings for the next week or so.
Looks like deablo was moved to LB.

Content is behind a paywall.
Man I hope this works out and he becomes a 10 year player for us, really need an excuse to get a new jersey...
When he was drafted they announced him as a LBer from VT. But were they seeing if he could be an NFL safety too?
I see some suggesting that Cam Newton's best path to a starting job is with Houston. Is our guy Tyrod going to get the shaft for the 4th time. Man I hope not.
Tyrod is getting paid. It would be awesome to see him start and put together some good seasons but the man is still living the dream.
True, I am pretty sure he is actually getting as much as Watson this year. 10 million.
I can think of at least a few teams that are on shakier ground than the Texans:
-New Orleans... post Brees life and the best they can come up with is Winston
-Chicago - full QB room but they are trusting things to Fields, Foles, and Dalton... this is going to be a fantastically awesome train wreck
-Washington - there's a reason Fitzpatrick is on his 63rd team...
Hard disagree on a lot of these. The Texans are in such a hole with this (virtually nonexistent) past draft class and lacking future draft picks due to awful roster mismanagement. BOB just didn't understand roster building and they're gonna suck for a while bc of it. Meanwhile the Saints have a cap crunch big time, but Mickey Loomis is one of the better GMs.
Youston's relevance goes as does the Watson scenario.
Edmunds, Hewitt, Johnson all signed to practice squads on teams that cut them.
Confused by this move. Facyson was waived today, after cut deadlines, by the Chargers.
Tyrod gets the start for the Texans on Sunday.
Ok I think I have every active player and practice squad player in. Ford was last add today. As always if you see something feel free to post the source information for me.
Would love to know the number of moves Miami has made with Isaiah. It's a weekly occurrence.
I follow named Issac Rochell who plays for the colts now, he said that's not uncommon. I forget the reasoning for it but it's actually a good thing.
Tyrod vs Trevor this week, I'll be looking forward to that! Hopefully Tyrod's luck will finally turn around!

Please use this so that this thread isn't 500 comments halfway through the season and won't load and can't find player roster moves News. Thanks.
Should call you Hokie Policeman tbh
Yea sorry I'm trying to keep this thread work for an entire NFL season. Don't appreciate the work it takes you don't have to click on it.
it was a joke lighten up francis
Hard to tell with many of your comments, plenty of them come across as you just being a jerk. But there is a good reason I try and keep two separate threads. Because if they combined there would be too many comments for it to load. Just trying to make this work each year.
Is it possible to edit the titles of the 2 separate threads to more clearly delineate their specific purposes? I think it is easy to get this "Roster Discussion" and "Gameday Discussion" threads mixed up.
Good suggestion, thanks.
What makes it funnier is that the link in the above comment goes to a 404 Page Not Found
I see now the title of the other one was changed, but it still made me laugh
Joey Slye signed with the Texans.
Thanks for info.
Taylor on IR for the Texans (thanks 75783 for heads up)
I really HATE this!!!!!
For Tyrod
For Tyrod
Joey Slye called up from the practice squad for tonight's game
https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-roundup-latest-league-news-from-thursday-se...
Missed an extra point 😥
Joey just hasn't been able to keep from punishing himself
Made a long field goal.
Been wondering if they were going to bring him up or just keep activating him only for games and sending him back down.
I think they can only activate a guy twice during a season before they have to bring him up and add him to the 53 man roster.
Great anecdote from Davante Adams on Yosh Nijman
Link to tweet
It's always awesome when the 3rd day draftee's and undrafted free agents make it too the show. You have to root for them no matter what school they played for
Okay, I'll bite, for those at work that can't access the twitter: What'd he say?
Gah! Sorry about that, here's a link to an article. Direct quote that I was referencing is below:
Divine got his first tackle, just need about 69 more this season so I can justify getting that jersey...
https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4037626/divine-deablo
Anyone know if Todd Washington is still coaching?
He used to play for us back in the late 90s, I still remember the Day he came by and sat across me in the building where the Burger King was (not sure if its still there)- Good guy.
Yes, assistant OL coach for Jacksonville. He is included in the list of coaches in the original post.
Looks like Logan Thomas might have busted his Achilles.
They are saying ham string.
Super bummer for him.
He's looked quite good as a TE - despite the ineptitude of the WFT franchise he looked like he may have found a nice career for himself. Hope he heals quickly!
Joey Slye cut by Texans. Several teams looking for kickers so might get some more shots this season.
Just saw a post on Gobbler Country's fakebook page that Facyson got picked up by the Raiders. He might get some field time as CB is a great need for them.
Does anyone know where Ashby is because the WFT could use a middle LB.......?
LT3 to IR with a hamstring injury.
Much more favorable than ankle or Achilles
For sure, though hammy's can linger, which sucks too.
Yosh Nijman got a shout out today on the updated ESPN power rankings for being the Packers most improved player thus far!
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/NFLpowerranking1012/nfl-power-rank...
brian johnson getting his shot with the saints
KickerU baby!
Not Hokie related, but a roster comment on WFT:
Looks like Blewitt blew it.
Blewitt doesn't seem like the best name for a kicker.
WFT don't care, apparently:
Ford called up for game from practice squad.
Throw that man the ball!
So Ford didn't play and based on tweets he made during the game wasn't even on the sideline for it. Will see what happens this week.
Caleb Farley has torn his ACL. Not great for a guy just coming off of multiple injuries.
Poor guy's career may be over before it even got started.
If it weren't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any.
Ford with a td grab for the dolphins!
Hopefully many more to come!
Tyrod off IR for Houston.
Brian Johnson with the game winning FG for New Orleans last night.
Fireman right now with people posting game news in this thread.
Slye waived by SF
Saw this coming has to be consistent.
I think it's more that "you can't miss PATs"
He has so much potential if he can just make the easy kicks.
At least his name isn't Blewitt- WFT kicker.... should be then next shoe to fall.
Not sure where else to post, cause it doesn't warrant its own thread, but the in the most recent episode of the Ryen Russillo podcost, Steve Marucci (49ers) tells a great story about Jim Drunkenmiller. I was way too young to know about him, and my only frame of reference is the UVA game winning TD, but this was cool to hear. Starts around 16:30 depending on ads.

$56.8 million dollar extension. 2nd highest paid guard in the NFL.
https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/896/wyatt-teller
Big dollars
And well deserved based on his play for them.
For all the jokes that were made about Beamer switching guys position, it seems, based on NFL success, he got quite a bit of them right.
Just want to thank y'all for keeping the information in the right thread spots.
Joey Slye signed by WFT
I guess he Blewitt to make room for Slye.
Slye-ding in to the DC
Welcome, Joey Slye, to the shit show known as WFT, or WTF
Joey is really racking up the frequent flyer miles this year. What is the record for a player on multiple teams in a single year?
Joey Slye - the best NFL kicker nobody wants to keep.
Making big bucks and rolling dice. The man is out here living.
two for one
Sorry been slammed between grad school, end of season, Fuente firing I haven't kept on top of movement.
Guy can't catch a break. Had a great one-handed TD catch prior to the injury.
That sucks and the low hit on him seemed pretty dirty. The announcers were saying that low hits are legal between the tackles. With all the rules on hitting the QB and avoiding headshots, I'm surprised that direct hits to the knees are OK. Especially by a defensive player.
It just super sucks for Logan.
Due to all the covid cases happening in the NFL right now, Greg Stroman signed by the Rams
That's not something I ever expected to see... good for him.
Yea I don't even have him on my table to add. But you know what good for him, go make that 5-9K for a weeks worth of work.
He did tear it up in the spring league
He was MVP of the championship game.
just another Fuente QB to the League smdh
In case y'all missed it. Ryan Willis is on the active roster for the Bears today. Which in that blizzard...in Seattle... hopefully he can get a snap or two, since we know that he's not afraid of chucking the ball down field regardless of condition.
Not the NFL but Adonis got drafted to USFL New Orleans Breakers, whose HC/GM is none other than Herbert Headcheeks Fedora.... The USFL draft is weird bc the draft was restricted to a specific position each round. Round 8 was the earliest a CB could go, he was the 5th CB off the board
Man Gobble I never create threads and I was about to for this one 😅
I like how they implement their compensatory picks. You get to pass on a round for an additional pick in a different round. It a team can take the compensatory pick before the round they pass on. Some intriguing strategy opportunities there. Here's a link to a better explanation: How Compensatory Picks Work in the USFL
The more I think about it, the more i think it's tangential enough to get its own thread -- why don't you go ahead and start one so we don't hijack this one ahead of the NFL offseason
We don't have a new one of these up yet, but I saw Ford is now with the Colts, and I'd doing really really well in preseason
Per the four-letter, Duane Brown to the Jets .
I have less time this year so won't get to making the chart until just prior to regular season starting. Sorry y'all.
