Welp...hope he does well. Think he could have benefited from an extra year especially how he came on late.

RB room still seems crowded AF ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well our best one is gone, the size of the room is the least our concern

That's not to say we wouldn't have used him though.

I'd trade the bottom five for Blackshear.

Given how bad the Fuente staff seemed to be at identifying the best players at times, I'm not yet convinced the "bottom five are the bottom five." But, I do agree that losing Blackshear is a blow.

I mean the bottom five as Pry rates them.

Blackshear is for sure near the top.

Corn Fu could not recruit that position if their lives depended on it. Fuente wanted a guy with size but could never recruit one good enough. He also di zip to develop Gary, Holston, King.. terrible. One of the main reasons why he is no longer coaching here. Pry could swing a dead cat and will do better recruiting RBs

Huh... So is that how the blue bloods recruit so well? Glad we know the secret ritual now.

I wish him the very best, I really do. But he won't get drafted.

All the best to him. He really came on late in the year and was crucial to our bowl eligibility.

He was in the 2017 class so it would have been a 6th year if he stayed. I'm not sure being a year older as a 6th year RB would increase his stock all that much.

Still slated to have 10 scholarship RB's next year. Just ridiculous.

Fire Whit.

Who cares? If 5 of them transferred right now what problem does that solve?

We shouldn't be rooting for any of the quality to leave

I didn't read that as nonchalance towards our best RB leaving. More just disgust at the recruiting patterns that lead to 10 RBs on the roster.

"Damn Blackshear is leaving. Who do we have to replace him? WTF. Why are there 10 people playing 1 position on the roster?" Even if they were all Heisman quality, that's a terrible roster situation. Some of them, by necessity, will never see the field.

And, even if some of the 10 that are left are very good, if they aren't cracking the top of the depth chart I hope they leave. Not because I don't like them, but because I want everyone who decides to suit up for M&O to be successful. If they aren't going to see the field here, go somewhere they can. Makes sense for all parties involved.

That said, losing Blackshear hurts. I can understand why he'd want to move on though. Wish him the best.

If we had 10 Heisman quality backs on the roster then thats amazing roster management, they cant beat you if they play for you/s

I was hoping he'd stick around, but I get it. Best of luck to him!

That being said...the upcoming bowl game is becoming very unwatchable lol.

I believe he's still gonna play in the bowl. Just by going by his message he says the end of the season

Yeah I just re-read it again, I'm going to agree with you

He did say at the conclusion of the season so I'm assuming he's still playing in the bowl.

That's good. We prob need him to play QB

At this rate, we'll have to call this bowl game "the spring game we never got under Fuente."

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Still better than the spring festival or whatever crap the Hoos don't bother to attend.

Wishing our guys nothing but the best entering the draft but boy...I really think some of these guys are going to regret these decisions.

It's a heavy "early" declaring year because of Covid. Most of the guys leaving have already graduated, some 2 years ago.

Seriously, some of these guys are almost old enough to rent a car.

Best player on offense and it wasn't close. It looks like Thomas and Holston will carry the load this year. I think Gary will play his way into the #3 spot, King will compete for it as well but we'll see what he can do nutrition and weight room wise

I just don't see Holston really playing much. Thomas looked good, king is change of pace, Kenji Christian is supposedly looking good and might be the 3rd.

It would be Holston's 6th year. The way he was phased out this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come back either.

Fuente had him in the doghouse for the latter part of the season, I'm certain of it.

Would Holston want to come back under the new staff? That's probably his decision.

Definitely in the doghouse. He was getting a lot of carries the first games, and then bang nothing for the rest of the season.

There was a tweet that he sent out in response to someone lamenting him not getting any run. All he said in his reply was something along the lines of "ikr," but the tweet soon disappeared and then so did Holston.

He also wasn't exactly lighting it up when he was getting carries, and it was his senior year. If he didn't show much then, I doubt he'd be a whole lot better next season. Plus the staff would probably rather get younger guys with higher ceilings more carries, like Thomas and King.

I appreciate the contributions that he and Herbert both made and I feel the Virginia Tech RB room is better because of those 2 men. I feel like with our depth we will see some more guys hit the portal. Not sure on what Holston's plans are. I feel like King, Gary, Thomas, Black, and Christian are a solid 5. Hampton and Brunson sounded like at one point there was some buzz around them as well and Black sounded like he could play WR if needed. Those are the top 7 RB's I like and so in saying that I am not upset about losing Ramon Brown. Still plenty of talent that I feel this new staff will be able to get out of this room and I hope the others find a place where they can play. Sad the roster was managed this way but I feel like if we can free up depth here then DL, LB, OL, and QB can be addressed.

FIRST DOWN, HOKIES!

Honestly, this one hurts. I was excited to see what he could do with competent coaching/OC.

We put the K in Kwality

For all the criticisms of Corn I actually do think his scheme fit Blackshear well. All those screen passes and wheel routes suited his skillset well.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Jet Sweep

I agree...when used he was a beast. But I can't justify how he wasn't used early in the season, didn't touch the call in 4Q of ND game when we were trying to burn clock, 2 (!) carries against MIA (and not until the 4Q). He should have been the feature back from the first game and had game plan designed around him. He would have put up huge numbers and probably won us 2-3 more games.

We put the K in Kwality

Nothing quite encapsulates the Cornelsen experience like Blackshear going from ACC RB of the Week against Duke, getting 2 carries the next week against Miami, and then finishing as ACC RB of the Week against UVA

the Cornelsen experience:

Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars
Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

The use of Blackshear during the season was infuriating. He obviously was our best running back and the fact that he would go for long periods (or the whole game) without many (or ANY) touches drove me f'ing nuts.

What a savings

Ah yes, Orlando, Florida. The original home of the hula

Hawaii's stadium has been condemned. They renovated the track and field seating to host games this year. And only had fans for a few of those bc of COVID and getting the seating approved.
