What cheese do people usually have for Xmas? We're having ham, twice baked potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad, and cupcakes. I guess there is a bit of parmesan in the potatoes, but you can make them without.

So I guess never mind I answered my own question

We're having some type of ham dinner tomorrow, but wife went all out tonight and made some beef wellington for the first time and it came out amazing, with some asparagus, mashed potatoes, and a red wine reduction which was also a first time doing for us.

The wife thinks that means to reduce the wine from the bottle, to the glass, to her stomach.
She does wine reduction every time she cooks!
I say, why involve a middleman (the glass)?

But historically we've done a nice baked Brie with a fruity compote topping

Yes...definitely true. My daughter turns 18 tomorrow and its always been like that. Plus...she could never get a proper birthday party on her actual birthday...nearly impossible to het anyone to come.

My daughter was born on the 12th. Once she got old enough to understand, she created her own rules. Christmas season in our house did not start until after her birthday.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

My birthday is in June, so a couple years we switched bithdays so she could have a nice outdoor party. Also the 12th is my wifes birthday. And the 5th was my sons.

Also 12/12, with similar rules when I was a kid. No decorations or tree until after my birthday. No "combined" gifts. That all went away when we had kids, though.

And THIS is why I'm glad we were able to get c-sections with each kid.... 🤮

And congrats! May your kid sleep through the night as soon as possible. But seriously, enjoy the next few months as much as you can, they grow up super quick. In some ways, the days where they are the least mobile are some of the most memorable.
