Let's be real- Stetson Bennet is more than likely not a national championship caliber QB right now. Good, yes. But there's a large difference between "good" and "winning a national title"

Bama just couldn't run it, and UGA had a better plan to thwart the big plays this game. Well played and coached game. I love to watch teams fight it out on the line of scrimmage, it is a thing to behold.

Since he walked out of the tent (why does Tech still not have there own sideline tent) so it can't be anything major like that. Might keep him it of the rest of the game though.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's not major. Brother in law tore his ACL when he was younger and continued to play hockey for a few more games. Just couldn't do any hard stops or cuts. Stopped playing when the tear was discovered.

Philip Rivers famously played a playoff game with a torn ACL. Obviously was never a running QB but was still able to get to the huddle and down the field, etc.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Have torn both via soccer. Can confirm that I had zero problem walking or even jogging either time within an hour of the tear. It's just the side to side that's problematic.

Ugh. This is similar to the 2012 Bama-LSU game. I wonder how bad this will be when the ratings come out. Bama-LSU was one of if not the lowest rated title game.
Edit - Actually Bama-OSU last year was the lowest rated title game in the CFP or BCS era. Bama-LSU is up there too.
We are now watching Saban versus a less good copy of Saban for championships.

Interesting to see that. With a chance to have pretty decent field position and some time left, I expected to see them use those timeouts quickly. Although UGA's punter has had a pretty good leg tonight.

You know, much as I love cfb... Couldn't bring myself to watch this one. Quick glance at the score mashed me glad I didn't invest the time. Glad bama is down though

I'm the first to be critical of ACC ref but I thought that was a great on the field fumble recovery call. Needed super slow-mo to confirm it. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, super wtf in real time, but I think they got both that call and the called back UGA td correct. They also didn't blow the UGA called back one dead which is amazing too

I really really really didn't want to watch this game, but tuned in during the 2nd half. I have to admit that this is the right match up, and the teams are delivering quite the show late in the game when it matters.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
If you're going to start the game at 8, then (1) kickoff should be at 8 sharp (not the national anthem at 8 followed by an 8:30 kickoff), and (2) Half time needs to be 20 minutes, not 35.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Get rid of the halftime report too. It's not like they do any real analysis. 20 minute commercial break to go fix some food, run to the store, hit the head, etc sounds pretty good to me.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
All I was getting at is halftime report, no halftime report, commercials, no commercials...it will still be 20 minutes. Katy Perry is the only one throwing a monkey wrench in this thing and making it longer. Now if you want to sub her for the halftime report or fewer commercials, I can get with that. They make the mute button for a reason.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
This took me much longer to process than it should have (I have an excuse though). I sincerely regret that I have only one leg to give. That was hilarious
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Bama winning it all is some of the small bits of normalcy we have. UGA winning it all might unleash an actual kraken from the sea that terrorizes us all
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I fee that, but it's a tough way to go out. I felt most bad for Jameson Williams though, I hope that injury doesn't cost him too much money in the draft.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I was a lot less bullish on Bama this game because they were down both starting corners, and when Jamo went down they were down their top two WR's, but I still wouldn't have bet against them. Great game by Georgia.

re: point #2 - i hate that we have a system where we go back and have to ask if it was correct. This is a sport - it should be decided on the field, not in a hotel conference center by a bunch of opinions that dont play. Records and conference championships should determine the playoff participants. Opinions should matter in seeding.

1st three quarters sure but that 4th was fun. Guess being down and all the chips on the table they finally let Bennet air it out and go for it and man did he deliver.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Great snot bubble game. Sorry it wasn't a track meet for all the pussyfooters.
The Hokies and ACC as a group are going to have to start eating their wheaties to compete with these teams.

The chorus of high pitch screams everytime bama does something kills me. Hate to say they will probably just be back and win it next year with a better version of bryce young. That all said its nice to not see bama hoist another one but its probably just delaying the inevitable.

I know plenty of UGA fans. Somehow, years ago, the guys in my company were about 3-1 UGA fans. Were they annoying? Absolutely. Did they talk way too much shit? You betcha. But, you know what...a UGA fan has never tried to run me off the road on the interstate whilst I was piloting a charter bus because they thought I was carrying either Tennessee fans or the team itself. Not to mention, there was nearly an altercation with their fans and a certain AssPocket in the Chik-fil-A kickoff back in '09. I place their fans slightly above WVU on my list of all-time shithead fans. Just slightly.

I went to CVille for Beamer's last regular season game. There was a guy behind us who was just a huge dbag all game with his comments. Nothing over the top vulgar or extraordinary, just annoying fan stuff. Probably was mad that VT took over their house again.
It felt so good when we got that interception and I turned around and saw nothing but empty seats.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I've hear slurs and 'poor people jokes' for lack of a better term. I was in jeans and some well worn VT sweats and heard someone yell "Can't afford a button down and slacks, F*****t?" The ironic thing is that it fits the UVA stereotype to a T.
*Yes, I know all fan bases have bad apples. I know not all UVA fans are this repugnant; this was just so remarkably on brand, it's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of UVA. I also don't interact with many UVA fans (good or bad) in Atlanta, so this is my lasting memory.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Oh man, the poor people jokes, I was flying to Mexico for a friend's wedding and was in first class (upgraded because I flew a ton for work), but there i was sitting in a VT shirt enjoying my glass of water they hand you during boarding and this women gets in makes a bad "joke" about the poor tech grads, flashes her UVA logo's bag like its innocent fun and heads back to coach. I was speechless like I'm in first class bitch. WTF. I don't every "joke" about a stereotype of a fan base with some one random. Heck I rarely do it with friends.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Don't worry, I knock on the hoo's enough for the both of us. I don't do it to other fan bases though, they're all worthy of respect (well sometimes I poke a little at WVU, but mostly in good fun).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yes, I know all fan bases have bad apples. I know not all UVA fans are this repugnant; this was just so remarkably on brand, it's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of UVA.
And this just proves my point. Every single time I have been insulted by a UVA fan it did nothing but reinforce their stereotype. Which is why it's always so fucking comical to me no matter how vile their insults.

Very happy for UGA, mostly because I had a very drunk weekend there and just kind of like that school, plus I am so tired of Bama. You could feel their happiness and relief for winning first time in 41 years. Also makes me sad because the way college football is now, I just don't see VT ever winning a Natty, unless there's some insane miracle. And we already had that miracle with MV7. We had chances in the 2000s to get close. Reality is hard.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Agree completely. This last decade of mediocrity has reset my expectations drastically. All those 10 win seasons and competing for the ACC, but knowing we aren't in the natty convo, that's the target for me now. I know we'll never win it all unless the structure drastically changes, and even if we do win once that happens, it'll ring a little hollow to me if we aren't the best of the best, which we won't be.
With age and maturity, I've put football where it belongs and where it should have been to begin with, way down the list of life's priorities with all the other entertainment options (and below hunting, fishing, and golf!). That being said, I'm excited for it to be fun again. And I think seasons like we had in the late 90s and 2000s were indeed fun. I can guarantee this, I'll never complain about a 10 win season ever again.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I just want to get back to going to fun bowls again (even if ACC bowls suck). Some of my best memories with friends are at bowls. If we are a top 15 team and playing in fun cities against good competition, I will be a happy guy.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yep, it would be nice to get back to those late 90s and 2000s. Agree with you on putting it in its place, but golf? That would make my life worse. Then again, I do own a boat...
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Lol trust me, if I could afford a boat and lived by the coast, my clubs would be quite dusty. But in the mountains when the fishing isn't great and there's no hunting season, I gotta have something to serve as a weekly getaway. So I suffer, along with all the other hackers. It's a fun place to drink a lot of beer though, but admittedly not as fun as a boat. And I now see we've come full circle, and I need to buy a boat.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Oh for sure. I don't plan on ever buying one. The few times I'd use it, I'd just as soon hire a guide.
My dream is owning land, enough to hunt on. But I don't think that's ever going to pan out either, so I guess I'll stick with drinking beer on the golf course.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Ideally, I'd love to own 150+ wooded acres, that has a water source, that borders public access either national forest or a state WMA, preferably in the Rockbridge / Bath / Highland / Augusta area. Pipe dream I know. The only people my age with land holdings like that do so because their great great great great grandparents already owned it when they were our age, having paid $37 and a bushel of corn for it.
What really sucks is I found archival records where my ancestors once held like 1,000 acres across several central and western Virginia counties. Unfortunately, it didn't make it down through the generations to me.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Ah I see. I would think Bath and Rockbridge county would be reasonably priced. Augusta land prices fall in line with the rest of the valley which is on the high end. Highland is just tough to get a decent buy. As much as I would love to own more land in VA, I've reserved to looking in northern Texas, Missouri and Colorado.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah I agree about those counties. I'm also considering land in West Virginia one day. I don't need agricultural land, somewhat rough mountain land is just fine, preferred actually. We'll see what the cards hold in 10-15 years. Get this small herd of offspring through college and maybe there's a chance lol.

It was on before the natty last night and I rewatched as I usually do and it just made me sad seeing how close we got and then realizing how far we have fallen just made me even sadder. Had to go bash a few rounds in Halo to vent after listening to that damn chop over and over
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I forgot about the whole CFP championship being last night (not that I would have wanted to watch a second SEC championship game anyway). Remembered this morning and checked the score. Happy for UGA and glad they got that one off their back.
But damn, this was the most uninteresting bowl season I can ever remember.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I am sure the networks know what sells, but I still say that having this on a Monday night where kids across the country can't tune in shows how little concern there is for the sport's long term future.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
How long term a future are we talking? Dating back to the BCS and the 2010-11 season, the championship game has always been played on Monday.
I think it's fair to say that, with 12 seasons and nothing but growth in that time, the future of the sport is safe despite the scheduling of one game.

That game ended after midnight eastern time. I turned the tv off around 11:30 local time with a 5:30am alarm set.
I'm not the first to say it, but I'll add my voice to the cacophony: Can we play this frickin game on a Saturday night??? I'm dragging ass this morning.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I dont mind the monday but 8:20 kick offs are a kick in the nuts for east coast folks even the super bowl is what 6 EST kickoff now like can we maybe do that or hell 6:30 would be fine even 7 would be an upgrade putting the title game on a monday night and that late is crap.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Amen. Also, I'm sure someone has tracked the statistics on this, but ESPN has managed to make these bowl games last an eternity. They feel so much longer than regular season games, or NFL games. There is absolutely no reason a football game that ends in regulation should ever last more than 3.5 hours, barring some abnormal circumstances (see e.g, The Rose Bowl where every other snap was a touchdown).
Maybe I'm just old and grouchy and hate listening to Kirk Herbstreit flap his gums for 4+ hours...
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I agree. This game needs to be in the same timeslot as the Super Bowl. Especially with the large majority of fans being in the eastern/central time zones. Honestly, of the biggest TV markets in the US, how many are in the western time zones? Maybe 4?
I had planned to stay up all night Monday anyways because I had to be at surgery prep at 6am yesterday and figured I'd sleep all day after anyways, but on a normal day I would not have stayed up for the whole game.

I love how the SEC champion lost to the same team they beat to become the SEC champion. So Alabama is the best team in the SEC but Georgia is the best team in the country. Hmm.
The game:

I did not even realize the game was played last night until I saw this thread. Shows how totally uninterested I was in watching the game. GA actually won though? That is a big surprise. Should be a good SEC Short with GA and Hope coming up.
Edit: In case anyone is interested, here is the SEC Shorts for Hope and GA after Georgia wins. Was okay, but not as funny as I thought it might be.
Not a bad game and the 4th quarter was a helluva lot of fun to watch. Glad UGA won.
That said, damn was waking up this morning rough. I ended up laying down after getting dressed and falling asleep for another hour. Why the hell is this game on a Monday!?!?! Stick with the Saturday and I'm sure there'd be a higher viewership.

Nah, he's gotta do this interview. He's making himself future endorsement money that way...not that he'll really have to pay for anything in the state of Georgia again.

Full disclosure I'm not the biggest fan of that kind of stuff but it wasnt what I expected at all. My dad worships the stuff and swears its the tits but I find it to be not very smooth, maybe thats how it is supposed to be but I find 1792 and others like that just fine comparatively. And considering how big of a pain getting it is not worth all the money and effort.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That makes sense. I'm a big fan of Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Old Forrester 1910/1920, Four Roses Small Batch/Single Barrel and a few others. But I refuse to go out of my way to find stuff. If I can't grab it off the shelf, or have someone grab it for me, with consistency, I don't bother.
I've been talked (tricked?) into doing Whole30 with my wife this month, so no bourbon for me until February. Sucks because my birthday is in January. What a sad celebration that will be.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Buffalo Trace is my favorite. And it is super hard to find in my area. I'll have to look for the other things you have listed there. Pretty sure I've seen Four Roses Small Batch. If you and I both like BT, guessing I'll like the other ones you like as well, so thank you for the tips.
A friend was to VA just before Christmas and he picked up some Fightin' Hokies for me. Going to swing by and pick it up after work today, so looking forward to that too.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Definitely, give them a shot and let me know what you think.
I haven't found BT in Blacksburg for years. My Mom can get it regularly in Florida so that's usually a Christmas or birthday gift. She got me a 1.75 bottle this year that I haven't cracked open yet because my 750 from my birthday last year is still over 3/4 full lol.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I was so disappointed when I was on the west coast. Found a big bottle of Buffalo Trace, but we were flying back and had no space in our suitcase for it. Would've snagged it in a heartbeat if it was some place that was driving distance.

For something aged as long as it is and then put into a lottery and priced so damn high I dont get the hype at all. Made my dad happy to give him some but I'll take the discounted case of busch or bud all day.

I read this article over the weekend and it was a bit eye opening to be sure. I don't drink a lot anyways and the most that I've ponied up at one time is $200 for a bottle of Johnny Blue, but I can't imagine spending thousands on a bottle of hooch. I'm just not sophisticated enough to tell the difference.
He wanted to play the second half apparently, but (obviously) Saban wouldn't let him. He wouldn't have been able to cut, at all, but there's a non-zero chance he could have run in a completely straight line for a TD or something on a torn ACL lol.

Also, the SEC is getting what it deserves with #GoACC refs
So glad this thread was made because I wanted to comment on this
Only thing more entertaining might've been PAC 12 refs
So, the usual then?
I'm not sure if Bama's defense is just this good right now or if UGAs offense is that bad
Let's be real- Stetson Bennet is more than likely not a national championship caliber QB right now. Good, yes. But there's a large difference between "good" and "winning a national title"
Yeah I took BAMA and the points and couldn't believe that was an option. Betting against BAMA and Saban? C'mon son.
I am firmly rooting for UGA though, just to mix it up from BAMA winning another one
Honestly, putting Bama as an underdog against anyone, let alone a Saban previous assistant, is basically giving money away.
Well this aged well.............LOL
Cine lowered the boom on second down. Also, im starting to fear that this will become "Game of the Century II" with like 5 FGs and no TDs
Remember when his hs teammate Mike sainristil was committed to us and we all thought we had a chance to land him too and then he went to UGA and sainristil flipped to Michigan anyway
Back when I was a dreamer about recruits. I've become hardened to them now. Don't get excited until paper meets fax machine
Committed to us as a DB. Pretty sure he's a WR at Michigan.
Yup
After getting DPotG last night... he still picked wrong
Not going to lie, I love a defensive struggle. Even as a former QB, strong defenses are always more appealing to watch for me. I'm not a huge fan of the B12 100 point games
It's all about balance for me. I prefer good defense to a shootout, but a 9-6 game...or 6-3 in 2 OT, just isn't exciting
I'll give you that.
Honestly, in the current world situation, I'm just glad a championship isn't going to be won by forfeit
It was a great game, 2 very talented teams playing chess. UGA started to get the run going, and then the pass opened up. Bama just couldn't run it, and UGA had a better plan to thwart the big plays this game. Well played and coached game. I love to watch teams fight it out on the line of scrimmage, it is a thing to behold.
At least at this pace we're headed for TEN field goals
The hit on Sanders

Great catch by Pickens
unreal
Agreed. Great awareness and ball tracking with a view angle like that
Big stop Bama. 3-3. At least if the game is run heavy, it'll be over faster
Feel bad for that kid. Big play in the title game and his leg gives out on him. He's been super involved in the game
Slow mo showed what looked like a ligament giving way
That wasn't good. Whole knee just moved out of place. Awful
Oof, just watched that overhead shot.... I don't think a knee is supposed to do that....
*shrug*
Philip Rivers famously played a playoff game with a torn ACL. Obviously was never a running QB but was still able to get to the huddle and down the field, etc.
Some people can walk straight ahead after ACL tears, it's the cuts and side to side motion that'll make people collapse.
Have torn both via soccer. Can confirm that I had zero problem walking or even jogging either time within an hour of the tear. It's just the side to side that's problematic.
i remember "back in the day" when VT had a little talent and we could keep up with Bama for 3 quarters (before they finally wore us down)... Now we're competing with the likes of Duke, GT and LOLUVA...
Boy We've got a long way to go.
The way American sports broadcasts zoom in and slow down replays of obviously gruesome injuries disgusts me
"Everyone except the snapper" 😆😆
UGA just killed themselves with the penalty on the return and the false start
I am intentionally not watching to not give viewership numbers to this. I am fed up with the whole thing
Huge mistake by Young there. Bama had a much harder FG as a result
Snoozefest
Imagine preparing a field for the CFP national championship and still having the Colts logo peeking through the turf
At least Indy can still claim it hosted a playoff game this year, right?
I wonder which player on the field right now the Eagles are going to pick with Indy's first rounder.
Bennett got lucky he noticed that guy last second. Got hit hard but kept the ball
Man, has UGA had a decent first down play at all tonight?
They should just call QB run. I hear that's effective if you focus on the minutiae
I've been wondering where all the jet sweeps have been. Those are supposed to be killer if you just run them 15 to 20 times a game
All of this build-up for a FG kicking contest
Did you expect any less when it just means more?
Saban decided to go half Fuente. Run the clock to avoid risk but actually call a timeout to get the ball.
Interesting to see that. With a chance to have pretty decent field position and some time left, I expected to see them use those timeouts quickly. Although UGA's punter has had a pretty good leg tonight.
Yawn not sure if I'll make it to the end of this one.
9-6 Yawnfest at half. Not sure if they were playing intentionally bland ball and setting up a fun second half or if this will be a good sleep inducer
Man, ads for the Masters already. Makes me want to start mowing some grass and have a lawnmower beer.
Sit on the couch, pretend the pillow is a steering wheel and drink a beer. Gotta get in some practice reps.
Duplicate
Ah yes, a music video, just what everyone wanted. Although I will take a 3 minute music video over a halftime show, including SB halftime show.
Intentional grounding on a flea flicker. Incredible
Hm, could that be Georgia's spark?
Big wasted possession there.
First one to score a TD wins?
Seems like that might be the case
Wr screen to wr screen. Isn't that the Stiney offense?
Both Ds are good, but Bama's O is just a little better. They are going to break one eventually.
Bama looks like they might have something going now
Yep, hitting a good rhythm here
This drive is going to hurt UGA.
Edit: Maybe not.
Big block. Blocked kicks usually get me warm and fuzzy, but this game has been so boring it's hard to care lol
Not gonna make it. Y'all enjoy the FG contest.
I foresee a UGA 3 and out.
Or a 70 yard run lol
Missed bad on that one.
Game. Bulldogs.
Oh...still 1:20 left in the 3rd
UGA D needs a big stop on this drive.
I really miss seeing us playing in big time prime bowl games. Hoping pry gets us back there!
Well, apparently Defense is back in. That is good news for Pry.
If he can revive the Terror Dome through stout defense and I think we'll be a threat to win the ACC title before too long
Agreed. I remember when we used to knock the opposing qb out of the game. That kind of d makes a difference.
Absolutely. Striking fear into an opponent and having that mental edge to begin with is a massive advantage
Can't wait for a 20-20 OT game.
You know, much as I love cfb... Couldn't bring myself to watch this one. Quick glance at the score mashed me glad I didn't invest the time. Glad bama is down though
You've missed little. Defense, sloppy mess offense, 3 big plays, lots of FGs
I'm actually enjoying this game. Good halftime adjustments on both sides of the ball by Georgia.
Bama just gets long drive after long drive. This is going to add up.
Dawgs have to wear down eventually. Neither team has a real depth talent advantage over the other.
Don't like that FG. Take a chance and try to shove it down their throats.
As a sage VT qb once said, scared money don't make money
Lol what recovery? #GoACC
Lol, #GoACCrefs.....
What in the world is this play lol? Apparently he did actually recover it if it's a fumble
If we dont get the result we called, we're going to call something else... what?
We look like idiots, so we're gonna let it stand.
Cmon Georgia fans, let's see some whacky shit if you're gonna throw it on the field. Vols had the mustard bottle
Boy. This is getting interesting
Anyone see UGA getting another TD? Not sure I do.
If they dont get one on this drive, then no, even if they get the ball again
Latu like about that TD if you're Bama
I actually chuckled a bit at this one. Have your leg
Boy. This is getting interesting
Edit: damnit...
Boy. Is this is getting interesting?
Slow phone and fat thumbs. Bad combo...
Happened to me earlier too
I'm the first to be critical of ACC ref but I thought that was a great on the field fumble recovery call. Needed super slow-mo to confirm it. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes
I had zero idea that actually happened it was wild that they caught it in real time
Yeah, super wtf in real time, but I think they got both that call and the called back UGA td correct. They also didn't blow the UGA called back one dead which is amazing too
Man this game makes me yearn for the days we had elite defenders all over the field.
The high pitch squeals everytime Alabama does something big are almost as annoying as the fucking tomahawk choo
Didn't think Bennett had that in his arsenal that's for sure
What a throw by Bennett
Suddenly this game is really NOT boring.
Where the hell has this version of Stenson Bennet been all night?
Cornelson-esque play call on that 2 pt conversion
1 point game with 8ish left. I'll take Saban in that situation 9 times out of 10
Dawgs are fired up. Bama D needs to step up here or it might be game
That is great coverage right there
I really really really didn't want to watch this game, but tuned in during the 2nd half. I have to admit that this is the right match up, and the teams are delivering quite the show late in the game when it matters.
It's so stupid how late this game is going to end. A week night game that ends after midnight makes no sense.
If you're going to start the game at 8, then (1) kickoff should be at 8 sharp (not the national anthem at 8 followed by an 8:30 kickoff), and (2) Half time needs to be 20 minutes, not 35.
Halftime should be the same length for all games. Whatever it is in the regular season, make it the same for the championship.
Now, how are they supposed to fit commercials, the halftime report, AND Katy Perry's new video in 20 minutes?
I know, omit the Katy Perry video. Fixed
Get rid of the halftime report too. It's not like they do any real analysis. 20 minute commercial break to go fix some food, run to the store, hit the head, etc sounds pretty good to me.
Um...you know you can still do all of that with the halftime report, right?
Not advocating for it. Just sayin'.
I mean I still do do that, but if it helps cut out the fluff to shorten halftime too, I'm for it haha
Mute Katy and use the halftime report to wipe with
This took me much longer to process than it should have (I have an excuse though). I sincerely regret that I have only one leg to give. That was hilarious
Statement drive.
Nothing is better than saban angry asf when bama is losing. I relish in it. I love it.
Still a lot of time left. UGA needs to drain that clock.
54 for Georgia is lucky they didn't flag him for piling up there
No way a team from Georgia can blow this, right?
Does 28-3 syndrome run in the state....? Or is it localized by city?
Someone pointed out last play was 3rd and 28. Maybe the curse is lifted
Braves negated that syndrome a few months ago.
Hope is rearing her head...
Of all the late hits on Bennet that's the only one they have called?
Wonder if Young has that true Heisman moment in him
Bama winning it all is some of the small bits of normalcy we have. UGA winning it all might unleash an actual kraken from the sea that terrorizes us all
Coming down to the last drive.
Over!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. Pick 6 to seal it.
Now that is a Heisman moment!
Wow. Just wow.
Saban loses to two assistants in one year. Time to hang it up.
I'm gonna go ahead and apologize to Stetson Bennet.... I really had zero faith in him to pull this out after the first 2 drives
The kid has heart
It didn't look good early, but he played well in the end.
Agreed...but he made it happen
I'm glad we didn't hire BOB
Agreed.
I feel for Bryce Young. This game was Burrow without Chase or Jefferson, Trevor Lawrence without Ross or Higgins in a national championship game.
Regardless, the Georgia players stepped up and made plays when it mattered the most. That's how you win a championship.
I don't feel to bad. Bama will be right back in the playoffs next year.
I fee that, but it's a tough way to go out. I felt most bad for Jameson Williams though, I hope that injury doesn't cost him too much money in the draft.
Agree on that front. That guy is awesome. Hope he has a quick recovery.
I hope it costs him a lot of money.......up front........WFT/Commanders/Admirals/???? draft him in the 3rd/4th and he earns a huge 2nd contract..lol
I thought Bama would win big. Boy did that take age like milk.
Also, Bama won this game in the SEC CG. It
1) never should have happened as a rematch 2) was absolutely the correct championship game
I was a lot less bullish on Bama this game because they were down both starting corners, and when Jamo went down they were down their top two WR's, but I still wouldn't have bet against them. Great game by Georgia.
Like I said, I would take saban in the situation 9 times out of 10. Kudos to UGA for making the most of it and balling out
I put my money on Saban 10 times out of 10, knowing I'm bound to lose at some point.
Probably a good strategy tbh
re: point #2 - i hate that we have a system where we go back and have to ask if it was correct. This is a sport - it should be decided on the field, not in a hotel conference center by a bunch of opinions that dont play. Records and conference championships should determine the playoff participants. Opinions should matter in seeding.
Fuck bama!!!!
Going to be a whole lot of October babies growing up named Kirby and have a bowl cut
Haha or Stetson Bennettiv [Last Name].
Shit, what a snoozefest.
1st like 3 quarters were. 4th was pretty good.
1st three quarters sure but that 4th was fun. Guess being down and all the chips on the table they finally let Bennet air it out and go for it and man did he deliver.
I forgot the s/
I enjoyed the first 3 as well
This here makes me dawggone happy.
ABB - Anyone But Bama.
GOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS SIC 'EM
I'd love to be back in Athens right now.
Great snot bubble game. Sorry it wasn't a track meet for all the pussyfooters.
The Hokies and ACC as a group are going to have to start eating their wheaties to compete with these teams.
I respect Saban and have nothing against the team, but goddamn, do I hate Bama fans.
The chorus of high pitch screams everytime bama does something kills me. Hate to say they will probably just be back and win it next year with a better version of bryce young. That all said its nice to not see bama hoist another one but its probably just delaying the inevitable.
Such is the case when you pretty much have your pick of all of the top recruits, every year.
Love College Football, but I don't love that part.
I live in Atlanta, and I can tell you that UGA fans are far worse than Bama fans. UGA fans bark at random people in bars. It's disgusting.
I've had great experiences with Alabama fans. UVA, Michigan, Tennessee, and UGA are my worst experiences.
Well, then...
Seriously, though...UVA...worst fan experience? How? Anytime they open their mouths I just laugh.
Don't worry, I knock on the hoo's enough for the both of us. I don't do it to other fan bases though, they're all worthy of respect (well sometimes I poke a little at WVU, but mostly in good fun).
And this just proves my point. Every single time I have been insulted by a UVA fan it did nothing but reinforce their stereotype. Which is why it's always so fucking comical to me no matter how vile their insults.
I'm floored that WVU doesn't make that list. I can count on one hand the amount of WVU fans that I like
You might be able to count on one hand all of the total amount of UVa fans that exist period :-).
I figured that went without saying...
My UGA grad neighbors will certainly be very happy
Oh hell yeah, Dawgs!! Beat that Bama ass, or as CBP would say, "Whip that tail".
I just want to get back to going to fun bowls again (even if ACC bowls suck). Some of my best memories with friends are at bowls. If we are a top 15 team and playing in fun cities against good competition, I will be a happy guy.
Yep, it would be nice to get back to those late 90s and 2000s. Agree with you on putting it in its place, but golf? That would make my life worse. Then again, I do own a boat...
The day you buy a boat will be your second best day of boat ownership.
Selling it being the best
Oh for sure. I don't plan on ever buying one. The few times I'd use it, I'd just as soon hire a guide.
My dream is owning land, enough to hunt on. But I don't think that's ever going to pan out either, so I guess I'll stick with drinking beer on the golf course.
How much land are talking about?
Ideally, I'd love to own 150+ wooded acres, that has a water source, that borders public access either national forest or a state WMA, preferably in the Rockbridge / Bath / Highland / Augusta area. Pipe dream I know. The only people my age with land holdings like that do so because their great great great great grandparents already owned it when they were our age, having paid $37 and a bushel of corn for it.
What really sucks is I found archival records where my ancestors once held like 1,000 acres across several central and western Virginia counties. Unfortunately, it didn't make it down through the generations to me.
Yeah godspeed on purchasing any land in Augusta that won't cost you your great-grandchildren's inheritance.
-Augusta Resident
Yeah I know. I was born five generations too late, for a variety of reasons.
I'd like to think I'll end up settling for 30-50 acres at some point. It'd be sweet to find something like that bordering public.
In reality, I'll most likely remain a public land hunter for the rest of my life, and still leave no inheritance for my great grandchildren.
2000 Sugar Bowl playing on ACCN.
Damn, Mike VIck was good.
It was on before the natty last night and I rewatched as I usually do and it just made me sad seeing how close we got and then realizing how far we have fallen just made me even sadder. Had to go bash a few rounds in Halo to vent after listening to that damn chop over and over
I forgot about the whole CFP championship being last night (not that I would have wanted to watch a second SEC championship game anyway). Remembered this morning and checked the score. Happy for UGA and glad they got that one off their back.
But damn, this was the most uninteresting bowl season I can ever remember.
I am sure the networks know what sells, but I still say that having this on a Monday night where kids across the country can't tune in shows how little concern there is for the sport's long term future.
I dont mind the monday but 8:20 kick offs are a kick in the nuts for east coast folks even the super bowl is what 6 EST kickoff now like can we maybe do that or hell 6:30 would be fine even 7 would be an upgrade putting the title game on a monday night and that late is crap.
Gotta cater to all the fans of these two teams on the West Coast. ;)
Similar boat... the 5:30 wakeup call for the gym was a lot more painful this morning.

Was okay, but not as funny as I thought it might be.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKIxPyrj0Zo
Bama was already down one of their top 2 WRs going into the game and then lost the other one in the 1st half.
Stetson Bennett interview this morning cracked me up. Let the dang kid sleep off his hangover.
Nah, he's gotta do this interview. He's making himself future endorsement money that way...not that he'll really have to pay for anything in the state of Georgia again.
I'm simultaneously amazed and horrified at this photo. Pappy straight from the bottle.
Only thing scarier is slugging zima after a loluva win

Pappy is like diesel fuel no wonder the kid could hardly function on good morning america
I've never had it. Care to clarify? Is it not everything it's cracked up to be?
Full disclosure I'm not the biggest fan of that kind of stuff but it wasnt what I expected at all. My dad worships the stuff and swears its the tits but I find it to be not very smooth, maybe thats how it is supposed to be but I find 1792 and others like that just fine comparatively. And considering how big of a pain getting it is not worth all the money and effort.
I'm just not sophisticated enough to tell the difference.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/dining/drinks/fake-bourbon.html
That said, I did buy a bottle of 10yr Whistle Pig and that stuff was smoooooth.
Blue is smooth. Don't do like Parker and mix it with Dr. Pepper.
Excuse me, what?
True story. Had a friend buy a bottle of Blue and mixed it with Dr. Pepper while drunk. Not recommended.
Can't be worse than 10High. A friend of mine swore by that stuff, never again; had the worst headache ever for a week.
Jameson Williams confirmed torn ACL. Shows that people can still walk seemingly "fine" with a torn ACL. Hope he recovers well.
He wanted to play the second half apparently, but (obviously) Saban wouldn't let him. He wouldn't have been able to cut, at all, but there's a non-zero chance he could have run in a completely straight line for a TD or something on a torn ACL lol.
