The Hokies host Notre Dame in Cassell Coliseum today at 6 PM. The Hokies are favored by 6.5 with the over/under at 132. Notre Dame(10-5, 4-1) is on a 6 game winning streak and the Hokies(8-7, 0-4) are on a 3 game losing streak.
When I first moved to the Pittsburgh, the Pirates play by play announcer was Bob "The Gunner" Prince. One of his theories involved "Hidden Vigorish". His theory was that no streak lasts forever; so the longer a streak, the more likelihood that the next game would end the streak. Let's hope "Hidden Vigorish" favors the Hokies tonight.
SCHEDULE
Notre Dame roster matches up fairly well with VT. They play a 7 man rotation that has a lot of seniority. with the exception of their Freshman guard, all of their regular players are a year older than their eligibility probably because of the Covid year.

I don't have much time for analysis this morning; so here's the stats. Maybe Shelton will put something up about the game.
The scoring leaders on the team are guards. ND makes about 9 three's per game; so guarding out to the line and keeping track of players will be important today. 6'9 forward Paul Atkinson, Jr. is the third leading scorer. He's shooting 60% with no three's; I'm guessing he spends a lot of time in the paint. The other big 6'10 Laszewski is more versatile shooting almost 50% overall and 45% from three. That's all I have time for today.

Gimme some Maddox and Pedulla. Maddox is shooting 48% from 3, with 27 attempts (pretty damn good), and Pedulla is at 62%, only 16 attempts but that's still lights out.
Aluma and Mutts obviously should not be allowed to shoot 3's (unless wide tf open). Aluma is shooting 24% and Mutts is 30%.
Maddox and Pedulla? Best I can do is Alleyne for 38 mins with 18% shooting.

I'm confused. From the other thread I thought we were in protocol again. Glad to see we're not. My hope is if we can play on a regular schedule we can start to eliminate the some of the poor play that has cost us recently.
The Pitt thread was from December 30. We had COVID issues then. Game is rescheduled and we're good to go now.

4 turnovers in a half is pretty good - with one being the dubious call on Mutts. But when your opponent doesn't turn the ball over once, its tough to be ahead.

This is true. Our offense is better when we get that extra pass. If we'll start our motion a couple of seconds sooner then we'll get that extra pass or two. This can be a kick out three, or a back door bunny.

Holy cow I was ready for heartbreak again. Great to see alleyne back, mutts working it down low and blocking shots instead of playing the perimeter, and storm taking efficient shots.
If they can keep up that and have Keve on his a game with cattor offering more we can be a force. Problem is we haven't put all of those together in a game yet.
