No TV coverage but live results will be posted here: Results

A couple of interesting tidbits:

-Barbora Malikova is making her college track debut. She ran the 400m for the Czech Republic in Tokyo, three time Czech National Champion in the 400m, etc., etc. I'm curious to see how she does in the 800 600m. They don't list the participants in the 4x400, but I would guess she will be in that.
-Kristin Kristjansdottir - has competed internationally for Iceland since 2017 and holds a number of Iceland National records at the U13, U15, U18, U20 and U23 levels. She will be in the pentathlon this week, but last week she competed in individual events and finished 4th in her 60m Hurdle heat and 12th in the long jump.

I appreciate the work and the insight. Fun to follow the results, but with his many teams it's hard for me to do more than that. As a note: You have Barbora listed in the 600m, not 800m.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

You are correct, she is in the 600m. Ill fix it. Too much data too late at night.

All right the multi-sport athletes are done for the day.

The women completed the heptathlon (60m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m Run) this afternoon. Of the two Hokies, only Freshman Jessica Williams completed all of the events finishing in 10th. Kristin Kristjansdottir finished the first four events, but did not start the 800m. I didn't see an explanation anywhere so I can't say what the cause of the DNF was. Kristin had a solid 4th in the high jump which was her best of the four events she completed.

The men finished four of the seven events (60m dash, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, and 1000m Run) and will finish up the remaining three tomorrow. Current standings for Hokies: Sean Murphy - 2nd, Jacob Spotswood - 3rd, John Manilli - 8th and Devin Daye-Schafer - 9th. Murphy and Spotswood were very strong in the shot put and high jump with 1st place finishes in both for Murphy and 3rd place finishes in both for Spotswood. Hurdles, pole vault and the 1000m will take place tomorrow morning.

The individual events began at 5 and will continue through the evening.

Notes from yesterday:

Women:
-1 Mile - Hokies finished 9th, 13th, 17th, and 21st.
-60m Hurdles - Layla Anderson did not make the finals.
-60m Dash - Layla Anderson did not make the finals.
-1000m - Hannah Ballowe and Leigha Torino finished 4th and 5th with both setting Personal Bests.
-600m - Well if you are going to have a college debut, you might as well have the 2nd fastest time in school history. Barbora Malikova won with a time of 1:28.02 which is the fastest in the NCAA and third fastest in the world this year. Lindsey Butler finished in 2nd, Star Price finished 3rd, Grace Boone 8th, Maxana Grubb 16th and Allison Zolkiewicz 21st.
-Pole Vault - Rachel Baxter continued doing Rachel Baxter things and won the Pole Vault with the 2nd best height in the NCAA this year. Julia Fixsen finished 4th and Erin Kelleher finished 12th.
-Triple Jump - Victoria Gorlova broke the school record (13.18 meters or 43'-3") on her first legal jump as a Hokie (Kansas transfer) and won the event. Hailey Huston Myles finished in 4th. Side note: I am always impressed by how easy and coordinated talented triple jumpers make this look. In my high school triple jumping career (it wasn't a good one), I always felt like my knees would give out on the landings.
-Weight Throw - Rebecca Mammel and Sara Killinen went 1 and 2 in the weight throw continuing the success from last week.
-Unseeded Pole Vault - Hokies went 4th, 9th, 13th, and 17th.

Men
-60m Hurdles - Sam McLendon finished in 5th and Matthew Mitchell took 6th.
-60m Dash - Cole Beck was first among college athletes and 2nd over all with a new personal best of 6.63. Torrence Walker was 5th, Kennedy Harrison was 6th and Donovan Louis was 7th. Michael Bell and KJ Moore did not make the finals.
-1000m - Seb Anthony broke the school record with a time of 2:20.07 to win the event recording the fastest time in the NCAA and the 2nd fastest in the world this year. Antonio Lopez Segura took 2nd with at time of 2:20.73 which was good for 2nd fastest in the NCAA and 4th fastest in the world this year. Ben Fleming took 5th, Benjamin Nibbelink was 7th, and Tyler Leeser was 10th.
-600m - Eldon Phillips was 4th.
-Weight Throw - Alexios Prodanas finished 3rd and Khalil Bedoui fouled out.
-Triple Jump - Chauncey Chambers took the win with a jump of 15.92 meters (52'-2.75") to tie his PB and good for 5th in the NCAA this year.

Damn. Lot of GREAT finishes! Love to see how many are ready to compete for NCAA championship points.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Men's Heptathlon
Jacob Spotswood wins, gets a new PR with 5,731 points, breaking the school record, which gives him the top mark in the NCAA this year and 2nd in the world so far this year. I was watching his passes in the pole vault. The pole vault height start at 9'-10" and he passed until 15'9", ultimately clearing a top height of 16'8.75". When he took his first attempt, only one other competitor was still participating. Quite impressive. He also won the 1000 m.

Not sure what happened to Sean Murphy. He was in 4th going into the 1000m but didn't start the event.

Final Update for the meet:

Women
-800m Ellie Vest finished 14th.
-200m Layla Anderson finished 13th.
-The Hokies did not field a 4x400 team which I found interesting.
-Victoria Gorlova finished 10th in the long jump.
-Laurel Miller, Jordan Jones and Rosie Cicmanec all tied for 6th in the high jump.
-Fiona Richards took 3rd in the Shot Put.

Men
-Tyreke Sapp and Patrick Forrest finished 5th and 6th in the 400m.
-Cole Beck, Kennedy Harrison, Kahleje Tillmon and Torrence Walker finished 1 through 4 in the 200m. Matthew Mitchell, Michael Bell and Sam McLendon finished 14th, 15th and 17th.
-4x400 Relay - closing out the meet the team of KJ Tillmon, Kennedy Harrison, Pat Forrest, and Tyreke Sapp take the win with a time of 3:09.41. The other Tech relay team finished in 9th.
-Tyson Jones finished in 5th in the shot put.
-KJ Moore finished in 3rd in the long jump and Caleb Stephens finished in 6th.
-Aidan Clark and Elijah Bell finished 3rd and 4th in the high jump.
-Conner McClure and Harrison Rice were the top two collegiate finishers as they took 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault.

That's it for this weekend. Some Hokies will be participating in the Winter Relays at VMI next weekend.

Do they not do team scoring at this?

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

I dont think so. They had a number of unattached competitors and a couple of reebok/addidas athletes.
