OL Billy Ray Mitchell's Verbal is Firm

It seems like the only lineman to jump ship will be Brady Taylor, and that may have happened if Grimes stayed in Blacksburg.

Wow. I'll let Pam respond for me:

JLaw will always get legs

Out of curiosity, why is everyone on the internet fawning over her constantly? The only response I get is "She's just awesome!" Is she just this years Ellen Paige or Emma Watson?

Beautiful. Talented. Speaks her mind instead of those canned celebrity responses we always get. She definitely seems like the kind of person you'd just like to hang out with. Watch her give an interview, with anyone, and I think it's easy to see.

Winner in my book.

"Exit light..."

well, that, and she's SMOKING hot! Nice to see some natural curves on one of these starlets...the youngins need a sammich, and the old ones have all had work done to pretend they are not effected by gravity.

love me some JLaw!

I don't have to take this abuse from you, I've got hundreds of people dying to abuse me.

Totally agree...however, recent pics have begun to show that she is losing weight. Hope she is not falling prey to the stick chick brigade.

Leonard. Duh.

let's hope it's just something for a role...

I don't have to take this abuse from you, I've got hundreds of people dying to abuse me.

Yeah it's her talent and demeanor that sets her apart.

I think that many people (and I'm speaking for myself as well here) like her so much because she seems really down to earth. If you see her interviews and the way she carries herself you can really tell that she's not the stereotypical stuck up actress type. She has a terrific sense of humor and she is perfectly happy just being herself. She knows she has flaws and she's not afraid to let everybody see them. It's refreshing.

She is a talented actress and also attractive..but the biggest reason I like her is because of her personality.

Edit: I also wanted to add that Emma Watson is absolutely stunning but I'm not sure I would want to hang out with her as a friend. Jennifer Lawrence, on the other hand, seems like the type of person I could invite over to eat pizza and play drinking games in my basement (with other friends of course..not trying to be creepy here) and have a blast doing it.

you wouldnt want to drink alone with jennifer lawrence?

Bigger, Faster, STRONGER...BUILT TO HIT

Solid Metallica track for the Billdozer/MStrawther collaboration.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

just about any metallica tune will do just fine .. shortest straw, for whom the bell tolls, blitzkrieg ... the list goes on

Ah Metallica. Shame they retired right after the black album.....
(Don't correct me. That is how I want to remember them.)

"I'll put a quote here to distract you from my inane comment."-Me

actually -- the beginning of "bell tolls" would totally kick ass in a billdozer clip

It has been done for a lot of other highlight videos, but I would watch anything Dozer/Straw put out there over and over and over...I'm gonna go watch the 2013 trailer again.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Is it possible for a Verbal to be Firm? Isn't this why men are forced to buy wedding rings? Firm Verbal means nothing until they enroll and are on campus. Call me when he picks a VT uniform number

The Dude Abides

It means that he is not actively looking or visiting other colleges and is pretty much set on signing with VT.

VT '15

He gave a soft verbal commitment on #74...of course he is still talking to other numbers such as #76 and #67.
He has an official visit to try on #79 next weekend. (Nick Saban will be there also)

This could be an entire new topic. I just don't see the point in giving a verbal commitment if you aren't truly FIRM in your commitment to begin with. It rubs me the wrong way that guys commit and continue to take official visits and talk to other schools. Why don't they just NOT commit verbally if they are still open to other options...by definition, it is not a commitment anymore if you are open to visits.
If you make a commitment to your girlfriend, are you allowed to keep going out with other women on "Official visits"??

Don't get me wrong, it goes both ways...we gained Chris Durkin after he committed to MSU.
I would just prefer they change the rules...when you commit, you sign the LOI right then...no more stupid National Signing Day.

Pardon my rant...they will all eventually be converted to TE anyway, so the point is moot.

VHokie

They can't just do away with NSD, otherwise we'd have kids signing right after Pee Wee football practice. There has to be some limit, and that limit will always have the same issues as NSD, regardless.

Also, I think if it's any earlier, you'll have a whole lot more trouble with guys changing their mind after signing their LOI.

Just like most students, by Spring of your senior year of high school, you should have a good idea of where you're going to school, but I'm sure a lot of you spent the entire fall debating which schools to apply to, and all winter choosing which was your favorite.

I understand what you are saying, but the verbal commits have moved up earlier and earlier as the years have gone by. Players for 2015 and even 2016 are commiting verbally, a year or two in advance. Then, for an entire year they have Nick Saban in their ear, telling them that Bama might have a spot for them. Or Urban Meyer asking them to come visit. My point is, they shouldn't do away with NSD...they should stop the process of verbals more then a year in advance. Players should make their commitment and stick with it. They shouldn't allow players to be recruited or offered before their junior year. Offers to 8th graders is weird and ridiculous. It just opens the door for corruption.

Maybe make it so guys can't give verbals more then 6 months in advance. Keep NSD firm or either allow players to sign the LOI once they give a verbal. Just don't let anyone sign a LOI before their senior year.

If a guy changes his mind after signing, (unless a coach leaves) then they have to honor their decision. (or unless the school releases him)

I agree, most students have an idea by their senior year...but we also don't have Saban and Meyer calling us and writing us and coming to our school or home and pressuring us to accept a scholarship.

Its just a dirty business and it keeps getting dirtier...

Saban may have just broke a rule yesterday with his trademark "I just happened to run into him"

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1932813-did-alabama-head-coach-nick-s...

If you go to the 247 site for Josh Rosen, they even list Saban as visiting this guy... (check the timeline)
This is supposedly a rules violation.

I am not saying I have the solution for this, but I do think there has to be some type of reform on recruiting. The big programs abuse the process and get away with it. The smaller programs are at a disadvantage to begin with.
If you run a clean program like the Hokies, you get victimized repeatedly by the scum bags at other schools...

VHokie

When I was 15, I was committed to not drinking. Then, I got drunk.

Kids are kids. They shouldn't be forced into life-altering commitments when they're sophomores and juniors. Give them as much time as possible (National Signing Day is pretty late when you think about college acceptances) and let them figure out their futures.

While I agree you shouldn't commit until you're 100% sure sometimes things change. I can see a player decommitting because of a coaching change head or assistant (believing an assistant will be there a while can be a little naive but I'm sure these coaches sell to them that they'll be there for at least a few years) or family situation changes, ect. plenty of valid reasons.

Also I've never been a college football recruit, but I'm sure there is pressure put on you to commit especially on visits and especially they made the change to when you verbal it was binding. And hey if you have a change of heart you have a change of heart*.

*Please no one throw this back in my face if I complain about Harrison or someone decomitt on NSD

See my post above...I agree. Coaching changes and family situations should open things up for the recruit.
I also agree on the pressure placed on recruits by the coaches. Maybe the solution would be that you can make a verbal commit 6 months in advance and then you have a 30 day or 60 day waiting period where you cannot visit other schools or a 30 or 60 day period where you can rescind your verbal. If after 60 days you decide you want to honor your verbal commitment, you can then sign a LOI.

Just throwing some idea's out there.

VHokie

No yea I get it, something should be done but its tough to nail down a full proof plan, but I do think your window idea is headed in the right direction

Its just wishful thinking on my part...frustrated by the Alabama's and FSU's stealing players at the last minute.
Some day maybe some reform will come. Its really hard to fix, just like the paying players issue.

I would probably be happy with the current system if I had graduated from Alabama...not that I would actually be capable of reading or comprehending the posts on this board if I were an Alabama grad.

VHokie

Maybe it was a different sport, but I think there were talks of having an early signing period so players could sign in the fall and get it out of the way. Maybe I'm thinking of Basketball or something else though.
