Final: Virginia Tech 85, Florida State 72.#Hokies win in Tallahassee for the first time since 1990. Snap the three-game losing streak, too.3-point shooting led the way. Tech hit 18-25, and Cattoor and Pedulla were 15-18 from three with 47 points.Phenomenal must-needed win.β David Cunningham (@therealdcunna) January 29, 2022

Got Georgia Tech, Pitt, Pitt, and Cuse the next four games. Don't want to look ahead too much but if there's a time to make a run this season now is it.

You better watch the rest. I have on a freshman year VT sweatshirt today from 2005. I don't care how hot it gets in April. Lights out today and I'm not going to be the problem.

Every game I watched, we lost. So I stayed in the other room and watched thru gamecast. I am sorry for the pain I have caused up to this point. I'm 800% committed to using my phone from now on.

The shooting was on another level, enjoy the moment. What I'm actually more happy to see is we had a real, meaningful rotation. DNG, Pedulla, and Maddox all got big minutes for the 2nd game in a row. Finally trusting our bench more and that should benefit us the rest of the way

FWIW, Pedulla and Maddox (23 minutes a piece) logged more minutes than Alleyne and Murphy (20 and 21 respectively). This is what a large contingent of us has been vocal about hoping CMY would implement. Will be interesting to see if this trend continues down the stretch of ACC play, regardless if Alleyne and Murphy hold their starting positions.

I just think it's wild that message board posters have been saying to play Pedulla and Maddox more and Storm and Alleyne less and lo and behold that strat worked. Wonder why it took MY so long. Definitely cast some doubt in his direction.

Young was looking for experience over skill but at this point its more about next season than this one. I would expect to see the minutes dispersed more evenly even if the results are up and down the remainder of the season.

I saw us win at FSU in the '79-80 season under Coach Charlie Moir on a 94' left handed buzzer beater by Les Hensen. Some things you never forget. Granted I saw it on about a 15" B&W TV screen in Major Williams Hall.

My dad talks about this all the time. He's been a ref/coach for years and still says it's the best shot he's ever seen. Like clockwork every time someone makes a sportscenter top 10 buzzer beater

A shot nobody will forget that saw it. It was amazing. Hensen turns and throws the ball, it disappears out of the camera range, the camera moves to the other basket, and like magic the ball re-appears going through the basket.
I watched it back then and it amazes me today. I did have a color TV.

Great to see the replay in color. I'd have sworn Henson was a lefty, but he threw that RH. Still a great memory. VT had an awesome team that year Henson, Dale Solomon, Wayne Robinson, Dexter Reid and Jeff Schneider. Lost to #1 and Natty Champs Louisville in Cassel on a buzzer beater by Darrel Griffith. Hell of a game.

I only got halfway through the 5th of Woodford. We were toasting and sipping, not doing shots. He made a difference in the 750 of vodka. Good times were had!

FAM!!! Quadrant 1 win!!

WOW! FAM! I'll be honest, I didn't feel comfortable even when we were up 16 with 4 to go. Team shot the lights out tonight.
Cattoor and Pedulla

The back end of the schedule is certainly favorable. We could potentially be favored in 8 or 9 of the last 10 games.
I don't want to get my hopes up but we have to win the next 5 to get ourselves back into the bubble conversation.

If it's tart snow then I'd probably stop eating it...
Let's freaking go!!!!!!

Thanks for the selfless change

We've got a new starting point guard fam
Of course we do what we did during the week then come out and drop a performance like this one. The inconsistency is maddening but I'll take the win.
First time I wore my class ring since getting it resized for my other hand.
Apparently I must wear this ring for every game.
Obligatory FAM
I approve

This was first thing I noticed when I went looking for the box score and minutes played. And really glad to see it. Hope it continues.
Didn't hear it mentioned, but do we have to say Hunter school record holder Catoor now? 9 made three's in a game, that's got to be a record right?
Tied Justin Robinson's record per Hokiesports.com
https://hokiesports.com/news/2022/1/29/mens-basketball-virginia-tech-sho...
He had 9 with 4 minutes left and didn't even attempt another one to break the school record or potentially go after the ACC record (11).
I just think it's wild that message board posters have been saying to play Pedulla and Maddox more and Storm and Alleyne less and lo and behold that strat worked. Wonder why it took MY so long. Definitely cast some doubt in his direction.
There's nothing wrong with his Pedulla oblongata

We hadn't won at Florida State since we were in the Metro Conference, in 1990.
We didn't beat them in Tallahassee as A10 members, as Big East members, or as ACC members until this afternoon.
Bill Foster? 0 Wins (admittedly, 0 games)
Bobby Hussey? 0 Wins (again, 0 games)
Ricky Stokes? 0 Wins (1 game)
Seth Greenberg? 0 Wins (6 games)
James Johnson? 0 Wins (1 game)
Buzz Williams? 0 Wins (3 games)
Mike Young? Got that W on his first try

The Henson Heave. You'll never see a more casual 94-footer in your life.
Holey Crap, I have not seen that before.
So young!

I was at that game. It was awesome. Cassell was rocking. VT had a great team that year.
Doesn't matter who the coach or even opponent is. I don't think we're losing to anyone if we shoot 72% from 3. Certainly not anyone in the ACC.
Basketball is fluky, Mike Young is 1-0 in Tallahassee but 0-3 against Boston College. Pretty sure both of those records will flip over time.
Yes, it has absolutely been a tough stretch, but for this I say...
I can't find who won time of posession.

Sunday at 9:25 and Cattoor just hit another 3 FAM
That was fun. Gonna rewatch tonight with a Hokie friend who had kid stuff yesterday and drink to every made three. Should be fun again! FAM!!

Watched the game again last night. Crazy that we missed 3-4 3pt attempts early before Pedulla and Cattoor started shooting lights out!
