MBB HOSTS GA TECH FEB 2 AT 9PM

The Hokies host Ga Tech tonight at 9 PM on the ACC Network. Ga Tech is 9-7 and 2-7 in ACC play.

Their two wins are FSU at home and BC on the road. Their most recent loss was to Miami at home by 11. Our most recent loss was to Miami at home on a miracle shot at the buzzer. Many of their losses were by fairly large margins. Most of our losses have been close. I think we are the better team, if everyone contributes.

The Hokies match up fairly well with GA Tech. They do have a 7'1 center; but he only plays about 8 min/game and has only played in 14 of their 20 games and did not play in their last two games. Their other big man 6'10 Howard returned to the starting line up for the last three games.

Ga Tech is another team that can give the Hokies fits from beyond the arc if allowed to shoot. The team averages 36% from three. Ga Tech is No. 2 in the ACC in forced TO's and Steals. The Hokies cannot be careless with the ball against this team. However, Ga Tech commits almost as many TO's than they cause. They are also prone to foul; 10 players have fouled out of a game this year. Their big man, Howard has fouled out twice in 15 games played. Hokies need to make their free throws tonight.

Detailed Stats:

This is a winnable game; and we don't need to shoot 72% from three to win. But we do need five players to contribute. If Murphy and Alleyne can be productive, Pedulla and Maddox can still play significant minutes as they continue to develop. If Murphy and Alleyne are not productive, Pedulla and Maddox will need to come in and carry the load.

LETS GO!!!!

HOKIES!!!

Is coronavirus over yet?

Keep is going guys!!!

Very interested to see how CMY utilizes the rotation tonight. I expect starters to remain the same and he will continue to increase minutes of Pedulla and Maddox in lieu of Storm and Alleyne

Almost 16 minutes into the game at this point.

Alleyne - 8 min
Murphy - 11 min
Pedulla - 7 min
Maddox - 5 min

Yeah, but this might have been Murphy's best game as a Hokie yet. He started out on fire.

I read the part about GT being foul prone, and then I see they played UNC, Duke, Wake, UNC. I am now worried this will be another game where the refs want to be a factor in the final score. I'm just not if they pick a make it up to GT game, or a let's enjoy the home crowd game. We will find out if we beat FSU because they were short handed, or because our bench is improving as much as it looked like in that game!

#4 has 3 fouls and is still in the game. Yet we're not attacking him drawing a foul. To be fair he does set illegal screens and should have been called for 2 more.

We put the K in Kwality

Josh Pastner's sideburns should be a Technical Foul

They scream 90's pop rock band.

Bob: What would ya say ya do here?

Brad: I already told you! I iron out the minutiae so Justin doesn't have to. I have people skills dammit! What the hell is wrong with you people?

I'm more focused on those pants. Seriously, Dude...they're so tight they look like yoga pants.

It finally hit me late in the game here....Pastner looks just like Moe Sizlak from the Simpsons. Someone else can post a picture.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

DNG doing his best Bacot impression...

The more I watch Maddox's game, the more I see that I like.

We must be watching the same game 😎

Maddox has got to have one of the prettiest jumpers in all of basketball.

Who's gonna tell the GT coach that it's not the 70s anymore? He looks like the neighbor dad from That 70s Show

If N'Guessan could make a layup this game would be on ice.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Is Alleyne hurt? He's only got 8 minutes so far and only 1 shot attempt

I think his minutes are being absorbed by Pedulla and Maddox due to their increased production

Pretty impressed by storm tonight on the whole. It is a bit unsettling how much difficulty we are having with this zone defense, though.

We're gonna score 80 so I feel alright with it

oh no its under 4 minutes and we suck

We need to not have Murphy dribble the clock down late. His inability to consistently create his own shot leads to forced passes and bad shooting when we get down in the clock, and let the other team back in....

Also, no excuse for our starters looking gassed that late in this game. We were up by enough we could have given them a rest with 5-7 left, instead of making tired mistakes with under three left.

But we won. I would just like to see improvement in the late game strategy after losing so many close ones doing the same thing.

Prevent defense never wins

did I just see mike young just put floor gum back in his mouth?

I came here to post the same thing. He totally dropped it, blew it off, and popped it back in.

Sure looked like it. Gave it the ole once over and popped it back in his mouth.

Let’s go……

Pretty sure this is how Covid-19 started

Another quality win. I'll take it.

Loved seeing Mutts and Aluma carve up the back side of that defense. We got stonewalled a few times and forced into taking bad shots at the buzzer, but generally were able to stay calm and make good passes and find a way past the high zone or whatever GT calls it.

Loved seeing the shot of JC Price at the game, cheering like he is part of the guard. If he invited me to a basketball tailgate I would find a way to drive up for the game.

He won the flex competition according to crowd applause.
