The ACC Championship for Men's and Women's Indoor Track is going on this weekend at Rector. Events started yesterday and will wrap up on Saturday.
As of right now both Hokie teams are in the lead.
Some highlights from the women's side so far (I haven't had a chance to dig into the men's events yet):
1. Distance Medley Relay - the ladies set a meet record yesterday with a time of 10:53.75 beating second place UVA by three seconds.
2. Ava Hassebrock had the 4th best time in prelims for the mile (4:41.78) to qualify for tomorrow's final.
3. Layla Anderson had the 5th best time in prelims for the 60 m hurdles (8.37 seconds) to qualify for tomorrow's final.
4. Barbora Malikova had the second best time in prelims for the 400 m (53.97) to qualify for tomorrow's final.
5. Lindsey Butler and Hannah Ballowe went 1 and 2 in the 800 m prelims to move on to tomorrow's final. Grace Boone just missed out on qualifying with the 10th best time and only the top 8 move on.
6. Victoria Gorlova finished sixth in the Long Jump.
7. Rachel Baxter - First vaulter, male or female, to ever win four consecutive ACC Indoor Titles. She set an ACC record at 4.61 meters.
8. Julia Fixsen took third in the pole vault.
9. Rebecca Mammel set a meet record in the weight throw with a throw of 23.08 meters. Sara Killinen took second with a throw of 22.21. meters.
The ladies are currently sitting at 47 points which points them seven points above 2nd place NC State.

ACC Indoor T & F Results
Right now, the VT women are in first place, 4 points ahead of Duke. The men are in 2nd place, 4 points behind UNC.
FAM!
Love to see it!!
Great job for both teams! Love seeing VT Track and Field so successful.
Technically the women tied with Duke, but co-Champion is still Champion.
Hell yeah! All your sports are belong to us!
What the heck happened with the women's 4x400 final? It looked like our girls were just running in cruise mode, maybe they thought they had already won?
For being in the fastest heat, they looked extremely non-competitive.
Maybe it was the turkey bacon. /s
They only needed to post a certain time to win the ACC- not win the race
So the only way they would've lost was if they dropped the baton?
If I understand it correctly they had 86 points going into the final race and ended up with 86 points since they didn't finish 8th place or above. If they had finished 8th place they would have won the ACC championship outright but instead still finished as champions sharing it with Duke at 86 points.
Still a Great Overall performance by both the men's and women's track & field teams!!!
There was no way they could lose. All they had to do to win (not shared) was finish 8th, but they came in 10th. At least two of the relay legs weren't even in frame with the other 3 runners.
