OT: The Batman discussion (SPOILERS)

Just got back from watching this and was blown away. It is every bit of three hours long, but in my opinion it doesn't ever drag and stays moving. For those of you that have read Batman it def has more of a "Year One" vibe than I thought Batman Begins did. The elevator scene in Falcone's penthouse was pure Batman...they really knocked this out of the park in my opinion. Thoughts?

This is the first detective comics movie.

Everyone knocked it out of the park, John Turturro was fantastic, Colin Farrell too. I liked Wright and Pattinson's partnership. Riddle was great.

Gotham city was amazing. Set design was perfect. I loved the slow plodding walk of batman. dragging put that impeding feeling of doom.

I loved batman realizing he had to be more. He is just a crazy man in a suit until he becomes the beacon of hope.

I like the slight throwaway of Bruce not meeting with finance people because it's not important, yet that money is what is financing crime. I really want him to step out of the shadows in the next movie to have Bruce take a role in cleaning up the Wayne fund.

The only thing that bothered me was all the pictures were taken at the same angle and no one blithe to look at the spot they were taken from? Big stupid plot hole in an othwise amazing movie.

I just want to watch it again.

Maybe this is going to be part of a sequel: Bruce Wayne, CPA

Where they just sit around doing forensic accounting for 3 hours

I thought it was fantastically dark, if not a bit too long.

I love Anne Hathaway but Kravitz is my new favorite as Catwoman. Pattinson is a seriously underrated actor. People think of him and just think Twilight, but he is really good in a lot of different things. I could go on and on about the casting, I thought every choice just worked. Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, great dynamic. The list goes on.

The story was a true detective story, and just the entire feel of the movie was Batman 100%. I really enjoyed seeing people like the police view Batman for what he kind of is, a masked vigilante that's a bit off his rocker at first.

Julie Newmar is the best catwoman ....now with the important stuff out of the way.

Batman is off his rocker, always, I mean they did a great job with the riddler showing that he thinks they're on the same side. He's very close to being a crazed lunatic. In the past when Batman used to kill people there wasn't much difference other than he was the "good guy". But to do anything that batman does you have to be off your rocker a bit. Doesn't mean he isn't the good guy or some one that can become a beacon of hope, but sane people don't dress up as bats and jump off tall buildings.

Not gonna lie when I saw Paul Dano was cast as Riddler, I thought of Paul Rust, and thought "that is perfect." This version of riddler was waaaay not what I expected. Much more violent. Also seemed like he was doing a Heath Ledger Joker impression of Tom Hardy Bane.

Also, after 2+ hours of tension building, the climax was pretty fucking anticlimactic.

Loved the new Batmobile, and I loved that 95% of Pattinson's screen time was as Batman and not Bruce Wayne. Overall solid movie. Not quite Michael Keaton Batman, but better than Kilmer and Clooney movies, and better than Batman Begins for a series starter.

The introduction, where criminals were looking over their shoulders and into the shadows... Perfect

The reveal of the bat mobile... Chef kiss

Okay, haven't seen this yet. I love The Dark Knight series, but I don't really like any other comic book movies (Marvel is fine, but not that into it).

Should I go see or nah?

Idk if this helps, but I've been telling everyone that this is not a Marvel movie. If you're expecting Marvel, this probably isn't the movie for you. Maybe works the opposite way in your case?

Kinda funny, but it seems like DC does a great job with one-off or self contained superhero flicks...they've just been below average at the shared universe... which is where Marvel Studios has excelled.

What are you thoughts on Chinatown, double Indemnity, or even Devil with a blue dress? If you like those movies then I would say this is a good one to see.

I have not heard of any of these movies.

I saw this movie on the opening night, wasn't a fan. As someone said, it is a detective movie to fit batman in it. Also, I felt like the way they portrayed batman was like he was the dumbest character in the entire movie. He was confused the entire time and he got played multiple times, and he never came out on top. The love story was completely unnecessary and awkward. 2/10. I give it a 2 because I absolutely loved how they opened the movie, but it went downhill quickly after that. I will not watch any DC movie again.

Best intro to a Batman movie ever so far

The introduction of the bat mobile was bad ass too.

I thought it was ok. I thought it was a little too long, and I didn't really know how Catwoman fit in, like she was getting revenge for her friend, revenge on Falcone, but also looking out for herself, I thought Zoe Kravitz did a good job, just her plot lines were all over the place. Idk if Robert Pattinson was the best Batman, I thought his portrayal was ok. I don't think another Batman movie is gonna touch the Dark Knight Trilogy though
