Who the hell are the Hoikes and how did they manage to steal our new AD?!

I posted the Cincinnati Athletic Department Strategic Plan in the other thread. It is very strong on fundraising. I know that message boards are places where many great ideas are born but the concept of follow up goes to die. I don't know how to get all the feedback of the site to his office, but it needs to be done. Besides organizing a fund raising effort (which even if every site member donated would only have small and temporary impact), helping get the fundraising apparatus working properly.

I pretty sure he uses twitter. Maybe we can tweet him some ideas/links?

Edit: Found it. @WhitBabcock

yes
This is a great hire. Can't wait for Whit to lead a new era at Tech and hopefully this new era will bring success!

HELL YEAH

The really encouraging part is that we already have a good coaching staff on the football side. One part of his job is already done.

My only worry is Babcock has been a lot of places. I hope he can make Blacksburg his home for the future and not use us as a stepping stone.

well first hes a local. grew up in harrisonburg, graduated from JMU and then WVU. so that helps. second we're a top ACC school. there's not very many places that are "higher steps" so to speak

VT CEE Class of 2016/2017

5 years, 2 degrees, 33 football games as a student, and 2 Cassell court stormings later, I bleed Maroon and Orange

Hold up hold up hold up hol' tup.... He's a West-by-gawd Mountaineer?!?!

"...sticks and stones may break my bones but I'm gonna kick you repeatedly in the balls Gardoki!"

Oh god, he's here set our couches on fire and then leave.

His sister lives in Roanoke and he graduated from JMU if I remember correctly. I think that he should stay awhile assuming he does well which I think he will.

I'm hoping he sees VT as an ideal program for him to build and run long-term. We've got a good (but certainly not great) financial status with lots of room to improve. No controversies (fingers crossed that it stays that way) to deal with. He gets to hit the ground running to build up our Athletics Department.

I feel like there isn't nearly the turnover in ADs like there is coaches

According to Barber, Babcock's dad says that Tech was the only place he would leave Cincy for.

Press conference is Monday

I read that wrong. It's sometime "the week of" Jan. 27, not Jan. 27. My bad.

May he lead VT Athletics to glory.

How I know something big is going down in Hokie-land

Just followed @WhitBabcock, he was at 7,160. Ten minutes later, he's at 7,205. Wonder how many followers he had two days ago!

Let's welcome him in with a Victory over UVA in BBall...

Starting March 1, plenty of time to hire a new hoops coach.

As much as I have a little vendetta against JMU for beating us, I think he is one hell of a hire. Glad to have him on board. Excited to see what he will do to revitalize the Hokie Club. Hopefully he puts a potential renovation of Cassell on his to do list. I think that would breathe some fresh life into our sports programs.
