Talking about going from the elevator to the outhouse. We were in prime position to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAAM and NCAAW tournament, and crown Mekhi Lewis to yet another NCAA championship. All on the heels of winning our first ACCT championship.
Oh well, we'll always be ACC champions! Has anybody heard how the open scrimmage went today? I imagine there wasn't much to display as install is in its infancy. Go Hokies!

Hokies softball has beat UNC twice and Baseball beat pitt today 22-6. All is not lost
This women's team is looking really, really special.
Great 1-2 pitching combo and the bats are on fire rn
Paige missed the bad storm that knocked
5 teams6 teams out of the Iditarod, including the rescue of 2 mushers and their teams.Apologies, gave the wrong number earlier.
Brent Pry shaved and it didn't look awful. I prefer the beard, but he looks sharp! Aerodynamic, even!
So we're blaming the weekend on him?
Not even one game in and you're thinking about blaming him for stuffπ
You are ruthless!
(Yes, I realize the missing /s)
I'm a glass half-full kinda guy. There was a time when all of us would've killed someone just to be the position we were in. Don't be down my fellow Hokies, the future is very bright across many sports!
2-7 in conference and you tell me we lose to a higher seed in the NCAA first round. I'm all in. I was worried about making the NIT. Always sucks to lose, but so proud of our teams!!
Relax, mate. It's only year-zero! /s
Seriously, I am very proud of these athletes, coaches and the results this year. I'd say every sport delivered results we would have been thrilled with at the start of theirs seasons.
8th at ncaa wrestling with 3 AA studs
Both Hokie basketball teams in the dance
Hokie Softball dominated with π§Ή of a decent UNC team
I'm thankful we are not Kentucky........
Had some VT friends in town to watch the women's and men's basketball losses at a bar and then walked over to PNC arena to watch Ovechkin beat the Canes on a shootout goal. Terrible sports weekend indeed.
At least the Canes got a point that night, unlike the game last night and the 2 before then

Its all good, at least we're pretty comfortably in the playoff picture and are still a good bet to win the Metro. But damn if we aren't sliding ass backwards into the deadline today.
Hopefully they can get hot in time for the playoffs. They looked absolutely gassed for most of the game against the Caps.
Domi is an interesting pickup. I think his style will play well here. We've tended to stay away from players who can be massive assholes to the point of getting the opponent off their game, so to have one is an interesting prospect for us. Could be a pretty big get, and the price for it was basically nothing.
Also love the 8 year extension for Kotkaniemi. We're gonna be a good team for a while.
Georgiev sends his regards >:-)
Baseball beat Pitt 7-1 today to take the series
Judged a flyball tournament for the first time in six months; had two dogs come close to debuting, had two other team dogs earn titles, won both divisions we were entered in. Had some good friends also debut new dogs to the sport. My greyhound was a perfect gentleman with his guest handlers for FastCAT and improved his time average. Terrible sports weekend.
I absolutely love the trend in the Virginia Tech Athletic department right now!
New, engaging, competent football staff.
CMY has us all expecting an NCAA birth every season now... Oh, and BTW, he just ran through the ACCT for a title.
Baseball is having a good start to the season.
Softball... Well what can I say.
Wrestling... Again, what can I say here. Tony Robie might not be winning National Championships (yet), but that guy had a vision and really built something amazing.
Womens Basketball... I really think Coach Brooks is building something great.
And two individual national championships in Indoor Track...
I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
Go Hokies!!
It is amazing what Robie has done. Especially since Whit handed him a bargain contract and told him he had an hour to sign it when he was hired. If we committed a little more to the wrestling program money wise, they would win a championship
Anything short of hiring Penn State's coach you aren't winning a natty there. Only 5 teams have won it in the last 30ish years and one of those has only one win. Everyone else has multiples. It is just that hard to unseat the top 2-3 teams on any given year.
drkev10 is right, unfortunately. Worse than football.
I donate to wrestling, it was my first love and sport of choice in high school. IMO it's the best sport in the world.
It's definitely a great foundation for training and utilizing the Army Combatives
I wore my Hokie gear all weekend long in the land of UNC and ECU fans. Lots of UNC fans congratulated me on the ACC title, that was pretty cool. ECU fans still don't understand that their university name is grammatically incorrect.
I mean, living at the beach is kinda cool despite the fans.
Ah, glad we are not talking about the swim team.
Drinks to everyone for following CGs!!!
I don't follow all Hokie sports, I know terrible fan. But not sure what you are referencing and how discussion of the swim team would impact CGs?
Check the Virginia Tech reddit from over the weekend.
Ahh that explains why that story showed up on my Twitter feed over the weekend.
Phew what a tricky situation with no easy solution.
I am a man of my word so I will edit.
And, yeesh. I really wish I hadn't read that subredded thread.
No, I was passing around drinks for not talking about it, I'll take your drink back
Next round of digital drinks on me
Maddening. We knew FGCU's entire offense was chucking up 3's. We also knew that they had one player that could play for us- the OSU transfer, and she killed us anyway. Maddening.
Yep. I lost some faith in coach Brooks during that game.
Apologies. We weren't able to make it back to the cave for Friday's game because we had to work and there's no wifi in the cave. That's on us and we own that.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't salty about 3 teams in the ACC (two of which we beat in the ACCT) being in the sweet 16 while we get knocked out in the first round.
Also salty because I think Texas is a good team, but also they got a lot of zebra help that made a big difference.
They only got that help against us - felt like the fix was in for purdue
Just think of the money, every ACC moving forward in the tourney is another block.
I had to be on the road for both games on Friday. Normally I watch. You can blame me if you want.

Edit: fking slow internet....
In the big scheme of things, both men and women making it to the NCAA tournament isn't all that bad.
And I wouldn't trade the ACC Championship for a win in the tournament.
So not even close to the worst weekend in Hokie sports.
Agreed. It's also not like we got blown out in that game against Texas either. One NCAA tournament win isn't better than an ACC Championship. Sweet 16/Elite 8/Final 4 it starts to change the balance.
