I believe I've read on here a few times that at a Public University the job must be posted for at least a week before someone can truly be hired. I'm not sure what day the job was first posted...

The university can hire anyone for any position as an "emergency hire" and the position can be listed later. The person hired on an emergency basis can assume the full-time job as long as the position was advertised. So, in theory, Searles could be the O-line coach at this minute, and the university can post the job any time in the next 4 months or so (I think).

Hopefully the coaches have a "How to Not Be an Idiot via Social Media 101" for new freshmen. As a comparison, UNC players had their parking tickets swept under the rug, and that was cited by the NCAA in their investigation, but they were current players when that happened. Still very bad news to advertise something like this, though I'm sure celebrity status on campus will let you get away with plenty.

If the coaches were pulling his scholarship offer, there's no way he'd even be in Blacksburg for an official visit. My guess is "da boys" are the player-hosts, and they're telling him his journey ends at VT, where he belongs.

That's what it is. Beamer does not make scholarship offers contingent upon not visiting other schools. He expects recruits to stick to their word if they commit, but that's it.

Could be true if FSU ends its WR haul in its current form. But Ermon Lane is probable to commit and there is at least a chance that Malachi Dupre could commit. With Rashad Greene, Rudolph, and Lane, Harrison is probably the #4 option. And lets not forget O'Leary at TE. I really do believe that Harrison is an elite talent but that is a lot of elite mouths to feed.
Now if Dupre commits to LSU and Worton or somebody decommits I would be a little more worried.

The one pretty big red flag I'm seeing is his size. Definitely seems undersized for a BCS-level safety. He's got a 4.5 second 40 time listed, which isn't elite or overly slow, so without looking at him play I can only assume his size is holding him back.

Yeah, I trust the NCAA to develop (or even bid out) a secure website to collect enforcable LOI signatures. I'm sure no crazy fan would try and hack it to try and entrap prized recruits into going to their school. </sarcastica>
I do agree that faxing the letters are silly though. These days it would probably easier to scan and email them. I assume the original still needs to be forwarded on and could continue to be.
