Congrats Aisha! Going to a good team!
Much deserved. Never stops getting buckets!
She is a fun player to watch. She did so much for the program while here, and was a key piece in helping Brooks build a competitive program. Very grateful she chose VT, and will now one set of eyes to a WNBA game when I would never have watched before. I hope she succeeds at the highest level.
It's a little bit disappointing to me as a Mystics fan, I don't like Las Vegas at all. But they are a fun team to watch, extremely talented.
Hard to imagine a more fun place to land out of college making a good amount of money than Vegas, though.
especially considering the other gambling-centric WNBA franchise home is Uncasville CT
I assume that WNBA players have agents just like the rest of sports. Which at 15% agent fee makes her starting salary at $53,881 but a taxes burden of $63,389.
Las Vegas has a cost of living index of 111 so more expensive than average (national average is 100)
So it good, but its tight with the cost of housing in Las vegas
Congrats, Aisha!
Awesome news.
Way to go, Aisha! She is now the highest drafted Women's Bball Hokie. All previous players drafted by the WNBA were in Round 3. That makes two players in the league for Brooks (Magarity in 2019). There were only 4 players drafted from 1997 - 2018 so this is a great trajectory.
Kitley has a good chance to break this record next year. Not bad for our program.
In an interesting twist, LV also took Kierstan Bell of the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in the first round.
Guessing they are going all in on shooting 3's. From the competition that is what #1 and #3?
I suppose Vegas is a place to make it rain.
