Holla
Obligatory: It's pronounced "Kevin".
This is what I came here for. Leg.
Came here for this, too. Legs.
Um .... well okay .... might want to take thus down as it's against the guidelines.
Because you're all wondering:pronunciation
Ahhh yesssss I like having front court depth. Also, the amount of talent that we are bringing in over the course of this off-season is legit.
Are we sure this isn't Mutts announcing he's coming back? Twinsies!!!
Welcome Mylyjael!
Justyn + 30 pounds! Whew!
I don't know what he does in the off-season /s
And 3-4" depending on how much you trust listings
I haven't been paying too much attention but when does Mutts have to make a decision?
He has until June 1st to remove his name from the NBA Draft
Any relation to Big Play Tre? Tre's mom being Wendy Poteat, not a last name I'd heard before
It's a possibility. Burlington and Greensboro aren't that far apart either.
Great pickup! It's crazy to actually have decent depth at the 4 and 5 now lol. From his game logs he seems to have really made big offensive strides this past year, although it seems he does need to improve at staying out of foul trouble. If he can keep making strides then I think he can be a great 5 for us.
I would be surprised if he is our starting 5, though, so fouls shouldn't be an issue.
Right now, we have 4 who have the size to play the 5: Basile (6-9 225), Poteat (6-8 225), Kidd (6-10 240), Wessler (7-0 255). I would expect Basile and Poteat to get 36-38 minutes, barring improvement from Kidd, who should get about 2-3 if needed. Although if Wessler is good, you can't overlook a 7-footer.
What did the Clemson and VTs staffs see in Kidd? It had to be something more than a very minor contributor? I'm missing something.
Kidd was a four star recruit with a rating of .9559 and he had an offer sheet that included 5 ACC and 4 SEC teams. I think a lot of teams saw more in him than what we're getting so far. IMO sometimes bigs are just hard to accurately project. That said I'm hoping he's ready to play some major minutes this year.
He's supposedly the best dunker on team.
Can he do anything else?
He seems to be a very athletic dude, at least from what I've seen of him dunking in pregame warmups. He reminds me of a bigger version of Shane Henry.
Oh yeah, I was thinking more down-the-line with Poteat since he has 3 years of eligibility left. He has bulked up now to 260 lbs.
Basile seems undersized to play the 5 in ACC ball, just because I don't think he would be able to defend the traditional-sized 5's. He will be a great stretch 4 though and has a silky smooth touch close to the basket. Things are so fluid with positions these days that I'm sure he will sometimes be our biggest guy on the court anyways though lol. It will be weird if Mutts comes back because I think he and Basile are both 4s and neither one would really excel at the 3 as much. And then I think Kidd can be the relief guy (hopefully he makes improvements), and then Wessler could redshirt to develop more but also get more space between him and the other bigs. Wessler does have a nice touch around the rim though and good size!
FWIW Basile and Aluma are both listed at 6'9" on their respective rosters from last year, whereas Mutts is listed at 6'7".
I think you're still right about him being a little undersized for ACC play as we saw it at times with Aluma, but it's manageable if you can also stretch the floor a little bit more the other way and force a big guy to guard you further away from the basket.
