Game 1 live now.
Game 2 Sat 1pm ACCN
Game 3 Sun 1pm ACCNX
This is a huge series and test for the 5th ranked good guys. A series win would cement a likely rise in the multiple NCAA Baseball Rankings.

LETS GOOO
HOKIES
4 very hard struck balls by hokie batters. No runs came out of it but if it continues like that Louisville pitchers are in for a long day
That got out in a hurry
That's twice Cade Hunter has been robbed this year
1-1
Rain delay
And we're back
Pitching dual since then
Louisville scored on a strikeout 2-1 Louisville
That center fielder for Louisville has robbed 2 runs. Its just one of those games
Been hitting the ball hard all day but not to the right spots.
Yep or making contact to early or late. Cross and Schobel crushed 2 pitches but swung too early and went foulπ
Yeah this game is frustrating
Very
Add another hard hit out
That bullshit call in the 6th inning gave Louisville all the momentum to take over the game
Well today just sucked!
VT eeks out a 4-3 victory today!
Probably would've felt a lot better about the win without the rain making things difficult at the end! Stressful 9th with the slippery mound haha.
Thank god they brought in that pinch hitter for the last out. Dude seemed like he was ready to get out of the rain.
Looking for scores? Anybody know how we did/are doing in the rubber match?
Post above you was for today. Victory baby!
With the win, we are now 16-9. Louisville falls to 16-10-1.
Miami is 18-8, but down 6-4 to FSU in the 8th. We need them to lose that one. They finish with a 3-game tilt against ND 15-9, first in Atlantic.
Somebody please check my math, but I think if FSU hangs on today, and the "U" drops 1 of 3 against ND, we could be a sweep of Duke away from the #1 seed.
Update: 6-4, Noles. Our very own, Bill Roth, on the call!
Let's sweep last place Duke and get ND to take 1 from the 'Canes.
Math checks out. At a minimum, VT has to win the series and get some help.
To summarize:
3 teams are in contention for the ACC regular season title and #1 overall seed: Miami, ND, and VT.
Miami is the #1 seed if:
VT is the #1 seed if:
ND is the #1 seed if:
The ACC tournament format is 4 pools of 3 teams with each pool winner going into a single elimination semifinals. The #1 seed gets their choice of day off and is in a pool with the 8 and 12 seeds.
Thanks. Parents are coming into town the week of the tourney and I can literally watch the games from my office window in uptown Charlotte. Hoping we get the 7pm game on Thursday and/or Friday
Keep in mind that the 1 seed picks their days off. I haven't looked at past years but I would imagine we would request Friday as a day off.
VT-Duke will be at noon all three days
Miami-ND will be at 7pm the 19th and 20th, and 1pm on the 21st.
VT may know by end of the game on the 21st if they have clinched the regular season title. If Miami and ND split the 19th and 20th, if the Hokies sweep, they get it.
Wonder what the Vegas odds would be on the ACC champion going into the last weekend? Miami has the most scenarios but I would put my money on the VT scenarios being more likely. But maybe I just have my O&M glasses on.
VT is playing the last place team in the Coastal and Miami is playing the first place team in the Atlantic. We don't control our own destiny but I have to think the "Vegas odds" would be in VT's favor here.
Probably locks a top 12 seed
Oklahoma State, Oregon State and Arkansas all lost their series this weekend. OSU was swept. We should move up in the rankings.
When you say OSU wad swept but mention two OSUs .... ?
Lol
A perfect example why the buckeyes come from anOSU and not tOSU.
VT moved up to #3 this week in both Baseball America and D1baseball rankings. Currently #5 in the RPI
We've gone from a football skewl to a basketball skewl to a hard ball skewl with baseball, softball and club lax, all in about three years.
We've always been a batsport school. You didn't know?
I knew we had some quality teams over the years but two number 3s at the same time? I don't remember that
This will definitely be the most Tech has spent on temporary bleachers in one year.
Luckily the way the schedule falls they would likely just need to move the bleachers from the softball park to English field.
May 20-22: Softball Regionals
May 27-29: Softball Super Regionals
June 3-5: Baseball Regionals
June 10-12: Baseball Super Regionals
I was wondering about this. Thanks for looking it up!
I dont know we had an entire end zone if temp bleachers for a season before the north endzone was finished
New D1 postseason projections. Hokies are the national 3 seed
1. Virginia Tech
4. Long Island
2. East Carolina
3. West Virginia
And the counterpart regional would be Vanderbilt
1. Vanderbilt
4. Davidson
2. Southern Miss
3. Liberty
Win over K-state was on ESPNU just now. Looked good.
