🚨COMMITMENT🚨Virginia Tech #Hokies land commitment from in-state Highland Springs athlete Takye HeathCommit No. 4 from Virginia https://t.co/rFmfMdC4Fa via @247sports— Matej Sis (@MatejS247) May 22, 2022
Pry also hired plenty of coaches with recruiting ties to the state, and it paid dividends when it came to Heath. He feels at ease with the Hokies was receivers coach Fontel Mines, who already built a relationship with Heath while an assistant coach at Old Dominion.
"That's my guy," Heath said in the winter. "We are from the same city, so it's like we relate to a lot of stuff and it's always good vibes when he comes around."

I feel like this is a big one
Beating out Pitt and WVU is always nice
Saw 5'9" at the top of his 247 and thought: ok that's peculiar. Then scrolled down and saw 5'11 and shook it off
This commitment video is legit
Thanks for sharing that link! Awesome!
Color me as slightly concerned that we aren't getting close to the top kids in Va (or close to any blue chippers for that matter), however I'm always very glad when young men and women commit to VT and appear to be fully in as future Hokies, especially Va kids.
Here's to hoping Pry and co. are really getting some great young men upon which they can rebuild the VT football foundation and tradition.
Understand that Pry and Co came in very late in this recruiting cycle. Many of the first connections that would be needed for blue chippers took place years ago. Pry's been on the job for about half a year. Much of that time has been spent salvaging the class for 2022, finding assistant coaches, identifying strengths and weaknesses on the current roster, installing a preliminary playbook for the spring game, and making all the necessary house-calls for boosters, in addition to recruiting for next year.
There's also a lot of serious civil engineering that needs to be done to rebuild a lot of the in-state infrastructure that was systematically dismantled under Fuente.
Nice to see the 804 represented on our roster
Kid has 8 P5 offers....just getting in before the rating complainer crowd....more Highland Springs kids please!
Also 247 has him higher than the composite
I guess he was a takye for our coaching staff.
Evidently heath pretty good
You really want a coaching staff that Springs on guys they like
Goal is to aim high, land these in state recruits.
The Macho pipeline
Takye will likely get a ratings bump. I'm glad we nabbed him when we did. He's had some hella performances in camps, and major schools were taking notice.
So, if I were to summarize the positives of this commit:
Anything I missed?
The Richmond pipeline is being rebuilt. Multiple 804 targets paid attention to this commitment.
Yes, I think that's a fair Tayke on his commitment. Looking forward to having him suit up for the Hokies
Pry and company are doing work. Got to get the jimmies and joes
