I believe he is a 2015 recruit, judging from his twitter bio and 247 page

Comes with the size of an OLineman already at 6-4, 305lbs

and yes he is a 2015 recruit
Im pretty happy about this. I would love to start getting OL from texas
The biggest thing to take away from this is the fact that Searles has Texas connections and kids are apparently starting to consider Tech.
A Virginia, Florida, New Jersey, and Texas pipeline would be huge.
Oh, and Derek Brown is a class of 2015 recruit and is the #5 ranked DT in the state of Texas.
we are starting to expand out west. something we have not done with results

I cannot remember the last 3* or better recruit that VT pulled from west of the Mississippi. Anyone?
All I can remember is that DB from Minnesota James Farrow. He was a 3-star recruit in 2011. Left the program to follow his music, if I remember correctly.
Katy is on of the powerhouses of TX football; numerous 5A state championships (runner-up last year, champions in 2012). We'd LOVE to have that pipeline turned on!
As far as Brown goes, here's an interview with him; apparently he was too big for his mother's womb!

That's a sad story tho. 1 of his arms only has 60 percent of the strength of the other arm. That would affect him as an OL
Let's get some Billy Bob's up in here!
I think we need a little more athleticism than Billy Bob.
