As much as we dump on the dude for some tone deaf stuff and attention to detail errors, nobody ever seems to get his name right.

I have never eaten at a Culvers. Any Mid West Hokies on here that can verify the hype?
Edit: So apparently there are a few Culver's in the DFW area, but not close to me. There is one in Flower Mound, that is not incredibly far from me. I will have to remember to check it out next time I'm up that way.

Waffle fries are the worst.
Every chick fill a experience I've ever had tops any experience I've had anywhere else fast food wise.
The only bad experience I ever had was going on a Sunday when they were closed. They refused to take my order.
Where are the Chick-fil-A's that have good service, cause I've never been to one. They are the longest wait times I've ever seen. There's alway like 5 people just standing around doing nothing. The wendy's by my house only has 2 people for breakfast and they are infinitely faster. Also most of the Chick-fil-A workers follow a long script and if you try to answer all their questions ahead of time then you're order is screwed or they don't listen and keep going with the script, which sure might be a lot for some one but they can't handle #1 with coke, that's all, no sauces, my name is king James. Which leads to "okay you want a #1 and what to drink". No other places has trouble with this.
All of the Chick-fil-a's in western Prince William county are amazing. They are always moving and get you in and out. The ones around my house are a well oiled machine.

Yea, i agree. I've never had a good experience at chik fil a either. The ones in Williamsburg are absolute garbage, and the one in Harrisonburg always has a line 50 cars long
I mean as some one that eats way to much chick fil a, go chicken mini biscuits!, I wouldn't say they are garbage, they don't have bad service, they arent
as efficient as McDonald's or Wendy's. Chickfila wants to talk, when I order, I give you monet, you give me food, no need to bring a conversation into this transaction (also like 10x the employees of the other chains and yet bit as fast). It's not like they are Popeyes which always is a pain to order and takes forever and is wrong most of the time.
Where are you people finding an efficient Wendy's? I don't think I've had a good Wendy's experience since Frank Beamer retired. The service is always terrible and the food doesn't make up for the lack.
They haven't gotten to Burger King's levels of bad quality or Hardee's level of slow, but a comparison to Chick-Fil-A customer experience is laughable
I wouldn't say that overall wendys is much better than chickfila except they typically have 2-3 people working while chickfila has like 15 and it takes about the same time
Wendy's could have the best service in the world and still hardly get my business ever since they changed their fries 10 years ago.
They fixed their faux pas a few months ago and have much better fries now

try the online app and order ahead. Don't have to wait.
The trick is to say "I'm here" 5 to 10 mins before you arrive so that it's ready when you show up.
It's ready when you get there because they've been under the burger warmers for half the day, not because you said "i'm here" 10 minutes in advance.

That makes more sense. I believe Chick Fil A is bit supposed to be giving out food that's been under the warmers for more than 2 minutes. The chicken sandwich in the bags and the fries can't survive that long.
Chick-fil-a is made to order. And when ordering on the app, they don't start putting together your order until you click "I'm here." One of the first times using the app, I waited 20 mins when it was an ultra busy Saturday morning. But the trick is order online at home, click "I'm here" 5 to 10 mins (or more at ultra heavy times) before you show up. And voila, Chick-fil-a with no wait. Plus, using the app will get you free food with rewards.
Service can't stop 50 cars from piling into a line, it can just process them faster, and that's only if customers don't have decision making disorders while ordering (some people could not care less about if there are 50 cars behind them as they take 20 minutes to decide whether they want a regular or spicy chicken sandwich).
This still confuses me. Every CFA I ever go to with hundreds of cars in line and get me through the drive thru in under 10 minutes where as a McDonalds or Wendy's takes about 30.

CFA's in south carolina have several people standing outside with ipads to take your order. they are very efficient down here.

It's mind boggling to me. Chick-fil-a essentially has four items: sandwich, grilled sandwich, spicy sandwich, nuggets
What in the world is going on when customers are ordering that is taking so long? Are they verifying the lineage of the chicken? Asking for a specific distance in grill marks?
I pull up, put in my order, get the total and pay in like 30 seconds. Even less time with mobile ordering. What happens during the other four minutes for the other customers?
Either you're ordering the wrong thing or you just got a rare bad experience. That or you're just not into unhealthy food.

We have virtually every great burger chain here in SATX. Culver's butter burgers are easily a Top-5.
However, they also remind me of my time spent in the Cold White North.
they're in south carolina now too. good burgers. cheese curds are ok, nice change of pace for a side down here. we get 2-for-1 coupons in the mail all the time for their concrete mixers (basically, ice cream with your chosen topping mixed in), so we get those a lot.
Now opening all over NC. Tried it a few times, and that's likely enough.
There isn't a bigger fan of Pals than me. And so can say, without a pause, that Culver's is the best fast food chain in the United States.

Can't go wrong with a Butterburger. Chicken is consistently good too for a change of pace.
I love their pot roast sandwich, the burgers, and the custard I will say that the ones I have visited in Michigan were much better than the Culver's in NC (south of Asheville and next to Carowinds) that I have been to.

If you like good meat and cheese then yes culver's is legit.
At their best, they're definitely a step up from most fast food burgers.
Their burgers aren't frozen, and that makes a difference. Because of this, they can also be inconsistent.
I'd pick them over most other fast-food burgers.
Worth the hype. Everyone here seems to be sleeping on the pork tenderloin sandwich, but it's a personal favorite. Can't go wrong with breaded and fried pork. Also, the butter burgers, cheese curds, and frozen custard are obviously good too since that's what they're known for.
I'm just going to say that I love that this thread got completely derailed to fast food. This is some peak offseason shit right here. I love this site.

Umm, yes please. I will take that somehow very pleasing nasal sound over a douched up commercial voice any day. You could tell Bill had enthusiasm for the game, team and b-burg behind his words. I have not been to a game since 2007 but have heard the other guy on vids and sounds like any other announcer trying too hard.

I legit don't understand why we let him go. It was like the Fu era was trying to find problems where there were none. I know this obviously wasn't likely Fu's direct call, but still. And some point to anecdotal things like, "this one game he spoke into the mic when he should have been muted." Seriously who gaf? Dude called games for over 20 years and became a voice synonymous with VT football, he's due a mishap or two. VT football under Fu became the most generic blunder ever. I hope Whit learned some things too.

One of these is not like the others, to me at least. But to each their own.
I liked Laze fine. Not Bill Roth for sure, but compared to what a lot of other schools have, Laze was pretty good.
Laze was not hired to replace Roth. He was hired to fill some gigantic shoes. He did his best and it was pretty good.

Bill Roth was all I've ever known, though I did hear Laze prior to him coming to VT while he was "the voice of the flying squirrels". Bill Roth won't be the voice of the hokies forever, and we'll have to get accustomed to someone else regardless.
Laze was solid.
I wouldn't be upset if when Roth finishes up again, Laze somehow found his way back into the booth.
I agree here.
Lets also not forget that Laze came in because Roth left us to take the job at UCLA, only afterwards realizing the grass wasn't greener and coming back to teach as well as taking on ESPN jobs during the weekends. Laze did us a huge solid by coming in to replace him and doing as good a job as he could, and my biggest regret for him is that he'll always be linked to the Fuente era based on the timing of when he was hired and when he decided to step away.
And, lets also not forget that he didn't get fired. He stepped away because he has a newfound passion to doing work to bring awareness for mental health issues that are plaguing the nation, thinking his efforts are better used there than where they were. Major props to him for taking that leap and I only wish him the absolute best going forward.
Roth > Laze but I loved Laze. He did an amazing job. His football era was rough but he has some of the most iconic VT basketball calls ever.
