I thought this is turning out to be an awesome presser. He has his values and principles, called them out and intends to stick to them. With one of those being the community, I am excited to see where we can go and grow. Very well spoken, thorough and quick on his feet.

My immediate take aways (for what they're worth...not much)...
Seems to me like he means it when he says VT is his dream job. He's been around the school since he was little. After he relaxed a little and got to answering questions I was a big fan of what he said. Especially things such as having the means financially to hire and RETAIN quaility people. Seems like he really knows what he's doing. He talked about if you see a net increase in the HC membership, that's great, but he wants to know why we lost some as well. I think you can go ahead and hashtag "memorable experience" after that presser too. Really seems like he's going to care about the fans.
Between him and Dr. Sands, I think VT just got a good bit younger and thats a good thing!

I enjoyed his address even though he seemed nervous through the whole thing. As soon as the questioning portion opened up he hit his stride. I thought he answered all questions perfectly and let his qualities shine through. I was impressed on how he would answer the question and follow it up with a personal account.
Also, #MemorableExperience

A couple of quotes: "Character and competence"
"Create memorable experiences"
"Your first gift (donation) is your smallest." (Me paraphrasing here: VT should retain donors and make them want to increase their giving due to their positive experience.)
"No plans to replace coaches, I want to see how I can support our current staff better."

By stating "creating memorable experiences", he seems the type who may bring back fan favorites like Stick it in chats, etc. Pretty excited with this one.

On the reverse end of that, I really despised when the game was close or it was still early in the 4th quarter and people would try to start that thing up. I just wanted to grab the PA and yell "If they win, we'll look like jackasses. CUT IT OUT!"

You know what would make me happy? A Hokiesports video page that didnt crash my browser 75 percent of the time. Would it be that hard to have an adequate video setup?

I searched "whit babcock virginia tech" on YouTube, if that is easier for some to access (and avoid crashes). A few interesting vids (first two made by TSL, but hey, they're free):
-Prepared speech portion of presser.
-Kevin Jones' comments on selection process.
-Tommy Tubberville's remarks on his departure (positive).
MrsEMC couldn't remember who Kevin Jones was, so I found an old video called "The Untouchables", which led to another good old unrelated video featuring 'top 10 hokie plays of 2004'. (you know what a trap youtube is...)

Thanks for the info.
Getting check book ready...
Will be interested to hear what he states as his first big objective. Hopefully the list goes like this:
1)Money
2)Money
3)MONEY
I would be happy with
1) Money
2) Money
3) running clean programs and developing our kids for post college life.
Ok well if we h...a...v....e to I guess we can go with that but could it at least be
1) Money
2) MONEY
3) running clean programs and developing our kids for post college life
Walks out WWE style to this:
he's not getting fired already is he?
I kid, I kid

That's what we wanted to hear, engaging and building relationships with the fans and donors!
I'm liking his responses so far.
Classy guy that'll take us a long way in the right direction
Now the truly important question: How do we get Whit Babcock to make an account on TKP?
I sent him a tweet the other day with the link. His ball.

Does anyone have a link to a video of this? I missed the live stream.
They haven't posted it yet, but there should be a replay at some point.

In addition, I hope he brings back the Goodbye Song... That was always the epic part about the end of a game at Lane.

did he say when he would be on the job? We need an AD asap to address the basketball coach situation.
March 1st.
He said during the presser he would be in the 'burg working full time Feb 17th
I think the only way the new AD is going to help the basketball team this year, is if he can put a jersey on and get 20 pts/10 rebounds a night.
