The Dude Abides

This would be great.

well hot damn!!! do we have enough room to make an offer?

Onward and upward

I'm sure we can make room.

If he doesn't it probably says something about the coaching staffs confidence in keeping Harrison. But I mean are we really in any position to not be giving out offers to 4 Star Wide Receivers out of Florida?

We must be running a special on McKenzie's.

huh?

I laughed.

And possibly Isaiahs

No hosers eh?

Yeah it looks like that possibility exists but that article is also a month and a half old so its hard to say.

This article says he committed to Notre Dame in October?

Well, what are they waiting for? Offer away!

Tech offered his QB, Torrance Gibson, a 5 star 2015 QB today. Think he will be offered probably tomorrow at the earliest and the end of this week at the latest.

I guess I need to follow his high school update feed now.

I'll second that. I was starting to lose faith in the #Hoikes.

I'm worried about the ripple effect. If we offer McKenzie, then does Javon Harrsion decide to decommit? Does I. Ford not flip to us?

Then again the ripple effect might be Torrance Gibson wants to play with his brah in Blacksburg and commits to us.

Well the threat to lose Harrison is coming from FSU, who might end up with the best WR haul in the country. So competition isn't an issue.

I disagree. I think one of the big leverage points we have with Harrison is that he has an easier path for early playing time compared to FSU. If we keep adding big time WR prospects, that's no longer the case.

So what happens if we dont offer IM and javon flips to fsu at last minute on signing day. Then we miss out on both. Good players arent scared of competition. Good teams also offer as many as possible. All the big time schools do it so why not us? But i definately dont wanna be the disgruntled fan at the end of signing day if that happens and we miss both

Nope but we could poach Isaiah Ford and I'd be happy with that, especially if we nab Minor and Nnadi as well.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

That's a fair point. I guess I've been listing to the "UVA argument" for too long and it has seeped into my system.

Yes, easier path to playing time is a big factor for us, but I doubt that offering McKenzie would hurt us there. Those two have completely different body types and styles of play. McKenzie is more of a slot receiver and Harrison is a big-play guy on the outside. McKenzie just doesn't have the body to go up and win jump balls on the sideline or in the endzone and that's what we're recruiting Harrison to do.

Exactly. At FSU Harrison has legitimate competition for playing time probably from multiple 5* receivers that he may not overcome for a year or two. At Tech no matter who we end up with there is no doubt Harrison instantly is a day 1 starter.

Gray was in Lakeland, FL today (javon harrison's hometown - via Gray's twitter), so i seriously doubt he's interested in upsetting our #1 wr prospect.

“These people are losing their minds. This is beautiful.”

IM is different type of WR than either JH or IF. Vt staff knows it doesnt make sense to add both Ford and IM if Harrison indicates he is solid to VT. However, we will end up with 2 of the three .. timing is key.

Would be interesting if VT knows by Feb 4th that we are choice of all 3, Scott, Nnadi AND Minor has qualifying SAT. Would a Frank Beamer - led VT pull 1-2 offers from current verbals?

I hope VT never becomes a school that doesnt honor a verbal .. and, ftr, I am not saying we will, at least not with Frank at the helm.

Well, all schools pull offers. Every school has targets for each year. For example, this year we had to have 2 QBs at least. That was the target. Once it's filled then the remaining QB targets are told respectfully that our needs are filled and if someone switches we are still interested. Everyone knows the deal.

I think this year will be something different though. You will see a lot of off season attrition. More than ever before maybe. Definitely more than any average year, so that they can take more high quality recruits. Coaches will pull scholarships from players that aren't competing at the right level or are in their 3rd or 4th year and no where near breaking the 2 deep. Kids like Willenbrock (sp) that was offered, more than likely, to attract Drew Harris here will probably not be on scholarship next year IMO.

There will be no other way to make the numbers cap

I think the bigger issue than the 85 schollie cap is the 25-man signing class cap. Still, I think the coaches have a good idea of who will need a prep year, plus the 4 guys that enrolled early and the Taylor decommit. Somehow, the numbers always work out.

*EDIT* I'm pretty sure we'd only need 1 guys to prep to get all 6 of those guys. 247 lists us as having 25 commits, with 4 of them enrolling early and thus counting towards last year's class. One of the six mentioned is JH, who's already counted in there, leaving 4 spots for 5 potential new commits. In a class of 21, it's hard to imagine that at least 1 guy won't greyshirt or need a prep year. Numbers should work out just fine this year.

Dr. Ballein will make the numbers work to satisfy everyone including the NCAA.

Highly touted recruits switching to the Hokies!?!

McKenzie. Ford can join the family, right now Mckenzie can't unless he wants to walk on.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

It's quite possible he wasn't offered yet because of qualifying problems.
It certainly sounds like he's been told the requirements and he's signaling that if he can get the qualifiers he's got VT as #1 on his list.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Wow, I'm shocked he doesn't have an offer right now. He looks like what Frank would call a three-play guy. His acceleration once he squares his shoulders to the endzone is ridiculous. On those screens, returns and any time he gets to the edge, his first two-three steps upfield are insane. Guy's at a full spring after about 2 yards. The one thing that does concern me is his tendency to David Wilson it a bit, especially on punt returns. Pretty sure he gave up about 20 yards on a couple of them before busting big plays. That won't work at all in big-boy football. Still, he's a great athlete and tends to catch with his hands. I'd be ecstatic if we offered and he committed.

I think he would help our returb game alot. And after seeing the break down of andrew ford on here id love to see this kid in the slot

Yes and yes. This kid in the slot with Harrison on the outside.... yeesh. That's how you get big plays: put two big-time playmakers with vastly different styles right next to each other and force the defense to pick their poison.

... And then you give a smart and accurate Quarterback a triangle route-design... Wow, that would open up the running game a ton.

What's Important Now
The Lunchpail.
The Hammer.
BeamerBall.

Exactly. Plus, it makes it darn near impossible for the defense to key on any one guy if they have to be worried about a deep threat, shifty slot guy, solid running game and a smart, accurate QB who can take off if needed. Balance = happy Hokies.

And then...draw play
Brilliant!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

And then... Wait for it... A well-timed bubble screen!!!

What's Important Now
The Lunchpail.
The Hammer.
BeamerBall.

Draw play to the fullback. Sam Rogers all the way!

On a slight thread jack, we used to sneak the fullback a carry fairly often. I actually liked that play. Kept defenses honest. And I think it was during the infamous "Wilford's Drop" Miami game that Noel actually hit the fullback for a rather long deep bomb on a somewhat sneaky play. Loved it. We need to bring that play back specifically for Sam Rogers.

I'm excited, but I'm also worried about LB position.
I might be a little more stoked if it was 4* LB.

I am too. It seems we have covering everything but linebacker. I mean we got a commitment but if we lose minor, we are screwed.

Our motto bringing spirit true, that we may ever serve you

Andrew Motouakapa will be a good Mike. Devin VanDyke will be a good Mike. Ronny VanDyke will be a good Whip / Backer. Jameion Moss has the size. Dahman McKinnon was catching on. Deon Clarke will be good. Chase Williams will be solid for another year. Melvin Keihn I think will be a LB.

We have guys at the position, but in my opinion the whip is going away. LB needs to be a point of emphasis in 2015, but I like the idea of loading up skill guys in this class since our current crop of WR did not get it done.

This kid is blazing, looks like the scat back/wr 's that Oregon pulls in every year, yes he would have to qualify but if I were CFB I would offer him and if he gets in great if not hopefully we keep harrison. CFB has nothing to lose at this point why not try to bolster our recruiting class even if he doesn't get it.

It also would be interesting to see how he could get into ND and UF but not VT, both UF and ND are very prestigious schools.

'Its easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stock market beat,

Why sign Harrison or Ford or McKenzie if you can sign Harrison AND Ford AND McKenzie?

Seriously... We have a HUGE need at WR right now. This should be an easy sell.

Ford's not a back-up for anyone - he's got a standing offer.

Scout reporting that McKenzie has an offer. Yes, I know that Scout probably isn't the most reliable place for recruiting info but I really hope they are right.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

It's real - 247 is also reporting it.

Also (since it's behind a paywall at 247, I'll keep it brief), we may know more tonight whether or not he'll visit Notre Dame and he's trying to get up to Blacksburg for a visit as well.

what happened to committing "on the spot"!? man...

I don't have to take this abuse from you, I've got hundreds of people dying to abuse me.

It's the old pushing subscriptions game.

Not saying I hope we don't land Javon Harrison, I REALLY do but if he doesn't come here now assuming Ford and McKenzie both commit I really won't be mad at all.

Those two would certainly lessen the blow, no doubt. Still, with all 3 we have the makings of an elite receiving core.

As well as Cam Phillips.

Of course! How could I forget? This easily could end up being one of, if not the, best WR recruiting classes in VT history

It makes me all giddy inside thinking about it.

Not to mention Holland in there as well. Only a two star, but I think he's 6-4.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Both Bradshaw and Holland are rated as 3* players. After watching their film, I'm very surprised they weren't ranked higher.

This could be like our 2004 corp next year. Royal,.Harper, Morgan, Hyman, with Clowney as the old man. Now we could have these guys to add to the Stanford-Byrn tandem. I like it.

Holland and Bradshaw aren't slouches either - they are very good.

Damn! Forgot about them! Whoever is the QB for the coming years should be a very happy man!

I just realized if New McKenzie and Other Ford both commit, we'll have seven (7!) WR commitments in this class. lolWUT.

I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of them moved to DB since Jefferson didn't enroll.

I think we're going to move Travon McMillian to DB, and probably Shawn Payne, both of whom are listed as athletes but played offense in high school.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

I bet Meyers really wishes he had taken flight this year. With his untimely injuries at the start of last season, and the lackluster performance during the year, his stock may never get to climb. Even with his experience in the program , he and the others need to take notice to all the influx of talent we have coming in. Competition's about to get real, playas. Amazing how much can change in one year!

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

Well, he's got one more spring without the younger guys (and he's only a r-freshman himself) to prove he deserves a scholarship and some reps with the starting offense.

Gosh, I freaking love Aaron Moorehead. I hope he never leaves.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Read this on Isaiah McKenzie (free) Wow, I can't imagine a kid going through that. I really hope he becomes a Hokie. The thing I have noticed is that Keihn has reached out to him on twitter and they have both had tough lives so far but they have both persevered to become superstars.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

That is a good read. One guy on that blog said this:

"Blacksburg may not be the most exciting place in the world, but it has a way of healing the soul."

Amen to that!! This kid would grow here with the support he would get.

And what VTechAlum said:

"Umm, hey guys... want to play on an offense where you're constantly in single coverage because the defense cannot double anyone without leaving someone else wide open? Wanna catch a lot of TD passes? Then look who we have coming in, and come to us."

This speaks volumes to a kid with his talent. Hokie Nation is right up your alley Isaiah!

Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars
Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

Oh fuck yeah, get this kid on our roster

I've gotta say, reading a lot of the stuff on ND's 247 page where they have an update on McKenzie (nothing terribly new, just looking at his options pretty much), I'm so darn proud of Hokie Nation and TKP. Even through Brady Taylor's decommitment and the uncertainty with Harrison, the vast majority of posts have been understanding and reasonable, with very few to no personal attacks. Not to toot our own horn, but *toot*.
Just to recap some of the things I saw on that board (and to be fair, I did see one guy wish McKenzie the best wherever he ended up. Tip of the cap to that guy): Saying McKenzie has mental health issues/is bipolar, he's a nutcase, he should have his scholarship pulled for even thinking about changing his visit even though he's been to ND before, they can't possibly imagine why a recruit would ever drop everything when his "dream school" offered after "not giving a shit about him until 6 days before signing day," saying he won't make it at ND anyways, etc. etc. etc.

My point here, besides taking a small jab at a fanbase I believe to be just a few puffs of smug away from disappearing up their own nether regions, is to say thank you and congratulations, Hokies. Please continue to support the kids that check out our great institution and recognize that their college decision is theirs alone and has absolutely nothing to do with you or your opinions.

So, what time do we think he'll be here tomorrow?

Great post above, and timely tweet to prove your point.
These kids are going through a process and if they visit and love us, welcome.
But not everybody is a Hokie-so be it, but no disrespect.
But personal attacks reveal more about the attack-er versus the attack-ee.

and mine are Chicago Maroon and Orange!!!!

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand adults trashing 18 y/o kids. These are 18 y/o kids making huge decisions that will impact the rest of their lives. I'm just as interested in recruiting as most guys and always hope we get the recruits we want. Regardless, I'm not going to trash a kid because he changes his mind, it's his life not mine. Although I hate reading this, in the scheme of things, ND may be doing VT a favor.

"I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them." L Corso

And sometimes not even 18 yet! How's a kid that barely got his license supposed to decide the institution he'll put his future at stake with? It was hard enough for me and I wasn't on anyone's recruiting list.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

This is an interesting scenario. Beamer, by rule, does not send new scholarship offers to players committed elsewhere unless that player reaches out to VT and appears genuine. He feels it is disrespectful to try to "steal" players from other programs. That tells me he believes in this kid's talent and that his interest in VT is legitimate. I would love to see him in Maroon & Orange.

"Exit light..."

Except we already did that exact thing this year when Durkin was committed to Michigan State.

What you're seeing right now is a complete change in recruiting mindset from our entire staff. We're now starting to play the game that everyone else plays, and you know what, we're going to be better for it long-term. Loeffer, Moorehead, Grimes/Searels have brought a desperately needed rejuvenation to the recruiting trail and its just starting to pick up steam. And this is showing in the ratings of the guys we're getting. This past year we shot for the 5* players and ended up with a class loaded with 4* talent. This year, we're going even harder for the 5* talent (we have what, 2 5* QBs for 2015 already offered?) and we're getting noticed. This is recruiting at levels we NEVER saw under the Stinespring regime. I don't know about you, but seeing the coaches do this has me REALLY excited for the future of our football program. (because lord knows we need something to be excited for right now during the basketball season)

I can't find the exact timeline, but I thought Durkin already had an offer from us, but simply had chosen MSU. Could be wrong.

I assume by "Stinespring regime" that you mean when he was OC. Because I'd say, as recruiting coordinator, he's doing a hell of a job in concert with the position coaches. The future is bright, indeed.

"Exit light..."

Lefty had known a family member or something (don't remember specifics) of Durkin's that had reached out to Lefty about Chris coming to VT

Go Tech

I believe the connection was at Florida. His uncle was on staff there, reached out to Lefty encouraging him to check out his nephew. The rest, as they say, is history.

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

Can't argue that our recruiting strategy has improved, and that we have better overall recruiters on staff now. But with Stinespring as OC we pulled in a lot of talented players on offense. Consensus #1 prospect RB Kevin Jones, 5-star QB Tyrod Taylor, 4-star QB Sean Glennon, 4-star WR Eddie Royal, 4-star OL Shuman, etc etc. Eventually our offensive recruiting hit a dry spell as more and more years of mediocre offensive performances piled up to use against us. Combine that with an inadequate recruiting strategy (especially for OL) and Beamer made the changes.

I think it's unfair to say "under Stinespring's regime" as well. Beamer & Cavanaugh called the shots on recruiting strategies and Beamer is the one who kept O'Cain and Newsome on staff far far too long. (Sherman was a solid coach but didn't set the world on fire as a recruiter..)

What you're seeing now is both a product of 3 things
1) change in strategy (position coaches more involved in recruiting their positions, expanded territories, agressive about pursuing top prospects, not relying as much on just local talent which has up and down years)
2) Stinespring becoming the Recruiting Coordinator
3) New coaches hired who are younger and more recruiting saavvy than their predecessors. (as well as being better at coaching)

#1 is a direct result of #2 and #3.

Wiley, Brown, Russell, Drakeford, Gray, Banks, Prioleau, Charleton, Midget, Bird, McCadam, Pile, Hall, Green, Fuller, Williams, Hamilton, Rouse, Flowers, Harris, Chancellor, Carmichael, Hosley, Fuller, Exum, Jarrett

Don't know who downvoted you for telling the truth. Funny how that works, isn't it?

#1, I order you to go take a #2..sorry nice post but couldn't help by remember this episode :)

bnb

Whoa, that's not true at all. We certainly contact players that have commited elsewhere - we don't wait for them to make first contact. Beamer has stated that we ask them if they want to continue to be recruited, and if they say yes we do so, or if they say no we back off.

Reality has a mighty pimp hand.

That doesn't conflict with what I said at all.

"Exit light..."

Beamer, by rule, does not send new scholarship offers to players committed elsewhere unless that player reaches out to VT

That's the part that's not true - Beamer doesn't wait for the player to reach out to VT.

Reality has a mighty pimp hand.

I'm going to have to go back to his book and look at this again. He says stealing players is disrespectful; he doesn't like it done to him and he doesn't do it to others. You're right, if anyone continues to be interested in VT, they'll continue recruiting him and if he's committed and firmly so, we back off. But I have never heard of, or seen evidence of, any VT coach "cold-calling" a kid that's committed elsewhere to try to pry him away. I could definitely be wrong and/or misquoting here, but I'm fairly sure I'm not (though the cold I have is slowing my brain today).

"Exit light..."

I believe, starting when Shane arrived, that we no longer observe that particular rule. Coming out of the SEC ranks, he saw what we had to do to recruit with the Big Boys for Big Boy talent.

The additions of Loeffler, (the late great) Grimes, and Moorehead also moved us forward on a much more aggressive recruiting plan. Stinespring finally got the support he needed from CFB (with the backing of the new coaches plus Shane) to ramp up our recruiting efforts across the board. Replacing Grimes with Searels may actually turn out to be an upgrade to Grimes on the recruiting trail.

EVERY coach is recruiting now, including CFB who is much more active visiting games (football and basketball) to watch recruits play than he has ever been in the past. At this point in time, I don't think cold calling a recruit who is committed elsewhere is out of bounds. CFB may not like it, but I'm betting the new coaches are doing it anyway. If we want to play Big Boy football then we absolutely have to recruit like the Big Boys.

O.M.G. Grimes is dead? R.I.P., may god have mercy on his soul.

🦃 🦃 🦃

LOL! Dead to me, anyway.

If he commits he is our starting punt returner from day one. No question about it. No offense to Jarrett and Byrn, but they are not true punt returners, McKenzie definitely is.

It is, which is why I only put pretty much the headline. Left out a good bit of other info in the interest of not stepping on any toes. I'll edit that to clarify.

I just meant more in respect to ND being eliminated. Thread topic didn't specify school. Don't want you (or Joe) getting any flak for it.

Considering everything that's been going on that's been said, written, tweeted, etc, it's not a huge leap to make. Very few people outside of the ND fanbase are shocked by this. And if I've divulged too much, my apologies. Don't sue me. I'm sure it'll get out there fairly soon anyways.

A bunch of analysts on 247 switched their predictions to Ole Miss, and not Tech including Shurburtt. Wonder why?

No kidding. One poster even had the nerve to say nowhere else (but ND) could even come close when it comes to his personal development. Frank Beamer. Graduation rates. Oh, and a program with more championships than coaches in the past 10 years (yes, I know ND is independent and therefore doesn't have a conference to potentially win, but it still works).

I'm guessing that he's in route to Blacksburg now...hope so....let's seal the deal!!!

Touchdown Tech!!

Damn we're really pulling out all the stops if this is the case. Hope we can land him!

Or he is the only one on a small plane to roanoke airport. and he is cracking a joke that it is his own private jet

It really makes me curious what he's talking about. For official visits, the school can only pay for a recruit to fly in coach - no private planes and no first class.

"Exit light..."

Except for Clemson. They get to use the Governor's plane.
Click the link if interested:
Clemson

That's different. The article talks about coaches flying on a private plane when visiting recruits. It is a huge violation for recruits to fly on a private plane on school business.

Yeah I got that he isn't on a private jet. To be honest, I guess I didn't know we commonly paid to fly recruits in. So that is what impressed me.

the borat dance

Will be in the burg this weekend on his official visit!!!!!!!

Sounds a bit like the second coming of Eddie Royal. I could deal with that.

These gifs r great. As a dude not into IT, how do y'all do these?!?!

google image search gif you want, for example: chopping wood gif

then find the image you like. View that image in the browser. right click and click on "Inspect Element". crtl C that shit. paste into TKP comment box.

viola

ps. I had to ask too

Technically a .gif file does not have to be animated. So searching for something with the word "gif" in it may not give you an animated gif like you want. Most will be animated, but you may occasionally be disappointed to find ones that aren't. The easiest way to make sure you are getting an animated gif is to search the image in Google Images, then click Search Tools, select Type, then Animated. This way, every image is an animated gif. Then once you find the image you like, click it and select "View Full Size Image." Copy the URL and boom...gif.

Imgur also has some great lists of gifs for various purposes if you can find them. There was one I saw a while back that had nearly 50 different clapping gifs.

Wow

He's no good to me dead.

baby steps dude. But yes, all correct.

I just personally hate that disappointment when you think you've found a good gif and it turns out to not be animated. So using the Google tools makes it easy.

Funny that Auburn is uhh marketing on TKP. Look in the right corner.

Sidebar: I deleted the comment that was borderline NSFW.

Sidebar to the Sidebar: I hate moderating comments. Nobody has time for that. I figured it would be obvious not to post something NSWF on a college football website, a safe for work topic. However, it wasn't, so that's my bad. It's now in the community guidelines. Don't do it anymore.

Furthermore, there's an overwhelming amount of boobs and butts (of the non-pork variety) as of late. If that's your thing then great! There are a billion websites other than this one that can serve that up to you. We can do better.

1. I'm so glad that TKP has done a phenomenal job of keeping the forums both professional and informative. Thank you Joe and everyone that comments with insight and emotion. I appreciate getting on here and not subjecting myself to "questionable" material, from a moral viewpoint.
2. Question though: what does NSWF stand for?

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

I just looked at the Ford Pun thread before this one, and was thinking "I hope we land another McKenzie, all the Ford puns are really DOGGING me..." and was going to include Spudz...then saw you beat me to it.

Raymon minor will be in town too this weekend.

Glad to see another recruit stepping up and recruiting fellow recruits.

I love it. Keihn has been all over these guys in the past week. Including when Nnadi posted the pic on instagram he tweeted out for Tech fans to go vote. I have a feeling that all the recruits that we will have hopefully commit in the coming days Keihn had a lot to do with it.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Can I up vote this times a million?

I love that he cited his favorite player as Marcus Vick somewhere. Low and behold he is given a #5 jersey to put on. This staff does their homework. (I will not weigh in on the idea of Marcus Vick as anyones favorite player)

well I don't think he made their job very hard by wearing #5 in high school...

Onward and upward

I saw him today at west end...if he had the London broil no way he commits anywhere else.

Hokie club, bread bowls, pasta, wraps, west end brunch. In fact the broil wasn't even what I got the most, one of the lower list items for me.

Just sayin, this is a beautiful weekend to be in Blacksburg. Its 55 right now!

I love how infectious Reavis and Melvin are. It's bringing a very hip new era to Tech, and letting fans to get a bit more of how a kid is when he's not on the field.

I totally get it now when CFB keeps saying "well, he's a good kid and a heckuva player"

I hate to keep saying it, but something more than special is brewing down in Blacksburg. I am excited about signing day. SIGNING!

BeamerBall.

I checked out a few of his videos on Youtube. Look up "the Human Joystick - Isaiah McKenzie". This is the playmaking ability we haven't had since DW4. Very. Very. Elusive. Our return man from DAY 1.

This kid has super-duper punt returner stamped all over him. A couple of things I liked are he adjusts well to the ball in the air as a receiver and on the run he turns that corner on the fly - man. Something I didn't like which is David Wilsonesque to me is that he's not afraid to run back twenty yards - keep him moving in the forward direction and the overall results could be impressive in college. And, hey, his QB wasn't bad getting the bad to him.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

He has another pic of him that shows ole miss/nd/fu uni pics, a couple from ND.

But, none have hash tagged for their schools.

Fingers crossed.

Check his 247 page. We made a huge jump and are now predicted at 67% to land him

I love the tickle of Dickel in my belly

Wow. Everyone who has made a prediction in the last 48 hr as picked us, including those who had previously picked Ole Miss even the day before. I guess the visit made an impression. Of course, the crystal ball has been wrong before, but such a dramatic wave of predictions has to give us hope.

Amanda's husband... Can't you tell? To be honest, VT has a history of taking care of players with wife and child. I'm sure that T. Gray and the Hokie staff oversold the family atmosphere, and I'm hoping he absorbed it in.

🦃 🦃 🦃

Can't tell if that's sarcastica or not but I'm pretty sure Amanda Morales is his girlfriend. She goes to school in Tampa so hopefully that distance isn't a problem with getting him to Blacksburg.

The part that was Amanda's husband was sarcastic, as that is his twitter handle. But the rest about family and Gray and VT was serious. If distance is a problem, well according to google maps, Blacksburg, VA is closer to Tampa by driving than Oxford, MS by 12 minutes. Gainesville is only 2 hours, but it seems to be Ole Miss or VT battle.

🦃 🦃 🦃

Oh I gotcha. Yeah Gray has been great, really hoping we seal the deal. On signing day I expect Mckenzie to pick up the VT hat and say "VT wins... by 12 minutes. Go Hokies!"

He probably just wants to go home. I doubt it has to do with the state of Virginia or Blacksburg.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

yea, nobody likes unplanned travel delays

Virginia Tech '12
Go Hokies and Philly Sports

Purely speculative, but I'm guessing this is an inside joke. NSD is in 3 days. I'm guessing some of the current Hokies or recruits told him he can't leave VA until he signed his LOI. No going home.

At least, that's how I'll interpret it.

🦃 🦃 🦃

247Sports is reporting Isaiah McKenzie received a Georgia offer.

his recruitment has been nuts.

Hopefully this doesn't change anything, and he realizes if he got offered this late then he's just an afterthought to them.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

That's right, UGA are late comers! We've been involved for 6 days now!

Yeah! Rabble rabble rabble!

shut mouth

has he visited there? I know it was big to get him for a visit here because it's kinda of crazy to commit to a school you've never been to

Virginia Tech '12
Go Hokies and Philly Sports

Interesting.

Athens is closer to his home in Ft. Lauderdale than Blacksburg by 250 miles and Oxford by 310 miles.

Per 247 Tech is out of the running. This sucks.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Well. That was a fun 7 day ride we all went on if this is true. Gotta love college recruiting.

Forgive me if I don't know what I'm talking about, but 247sports still says VT is favorite.

I'm not a subscriber but I saw somewhere where some guy who is a subscriber said that VT is out of it. He could be wrong however.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

247's predictions aren't updated that frequently. I'd go more by the articles/tweets you read than the predictions you see.

Bummer then.

I wonder why he reached out to VT. Maybe he just doesn't like Blacksburg

you speak of heresy

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Ill just have to wait til NSD. All this chatter and rumors etc etc is getting to me lol

Would be nice to get this kind of talent, especially on offense. But let's be realistic, a good # of folks didn't even know this kids name a week ago. If he goes somewhere else, what can you do?

At least he spurned ND worse that us I suppose

Come on! We've been saying the name[s] 'Isaiah' 'McKenzie' for months. Where have you been?

___

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

The staff probably didnt know his name a week ago.

They were very aware, but had not offered because they felt he wouldn't qualify.

I have a feeling he will go to Georgia, late comer but its a step up from Ole Miss and as bad as I don't want to say it but... it might be a 1/2 step up from us. And closer to Ft. Lauderdale for sure

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

But our food is the best. You can't put a price on food...

About $4.50 for broil, mashed potatoes, and broccoli,

While I agree that our campus food is unbeatable, I'm pretty sure football players EVERYWHERE get fed pretty well. My ex gf's dad played guard at Purdue and he talked about how the team would all sit together in the athletic building and be fed feasts of great food all the time...food that was never available to any regular students at Purdue. Just because another school's campus dining isn't as good as Tech's does not mean that football players there aren't eating good food.

Onward and upward

I was just trying to make a joke and get Isaiah to change his mind. I hear he reads all my comments. You can obviously put a price on food.

This might be the biggest non-event of any recruiting season...

Reality has a mighty pimp hand.

Agreed

LOL, this guy!

He is screwing with us on purpose.

I know that some recruits like to toy with everyone so that their announcements are a big surprise for the fan base. I'm going to assume from this one that he's going to UGA...seems like the only reason he would leave them out of this.
