Getting my keys ready for this season. Let's Go Hokies!!
About 5 years ago I bought a couple 50 packs of key blanks and a 10 pack of those wire keychains and made Key Play noisemakers for everyone we go to games with. Surprisingly inexpensive (total cost was maybe $40), so maybe $4 a keychain.
I put my TKPC bottle opener on mine and attach it to my belt with a carabiner during games. Works very well.
Genius. I typically don't have my keys with me when I'm in Blacksburg and I have forgotten to add them to my tailgate checklist on more than one occasion.
Smart, I launched my keys halfway down the north endzone when I was student because the key ring broke
Don't spend money on blank keys. Heavener Hardware will give you a whole box of miscut keys for FREE.
This!!!! I did buy a VT blank key for the end and I have a Keychain that plays tech triumph on mine. The VT is coated and doesn't make noise so I hold it with the Keychain and let the other keys jingle!
I have not added the TKP bottle opener too it, but I do have a bottle opener on it.
This is genius. We've embraced as much of a key-free existence as we can, and when we're in Blacksburg with the Wrangler, it's okay because that has a key start, but if we're in my car, that's just a fob and remote start, not to mention that I am not to be trusted with the only keys to our vehicle when I've been tailgating. We also have keyless entry at the house, so my key inventory is limited. But this....this is is a risk-free solution to the problem. Thank you, AssPocket!

Just an FYI, Heavener is gone from that location as of Oct 1. They're moving into south main. I think it's a different name too? Another hardware store is taking over the Heavener spot.
You know, with as much as things have changed in Blacksburg in the last few years, I thought to myself as I hit post, "Hell, is Heavener even there anymore?"

I don't know if other places toss them as they miscut them or what. I just know that Heavener used to keep a box of them. If memory serves, I think it was specifically for fans asking for keys. That's how you serve the hometown peeps!

Disclaimer: this isn't a political post. I just don't think he's that funny personally. Haven't watched Late Show since Dave retired. I also don't think Will Ferrell is funny (come at me).
Well 1/2 ain't bad. 2000's Colbert was hilarious, but pretty clear that was the writers. Now he's just being himself without the snark and it's.. not the comedy that made him famous that's for sure.

Colbert just made his name on extreme sarcasm. That's all he ever could do. I thought Colbert Report was just so sarcastic it wasn't even funny. Now mind you I watched Daily Show back in the day with Craig Kilbourne and Jon Stewart and thought the general political satire was funny. Then Steve Carrell was great on there and spawned his career. But Colbert just never did it for me. He got his own show, but he just got so sarcastic and overtly political it stopped being funny.
Sorry not sorry on Ferrell. He was horrendous in the Office. He could have really been great there but he just doesn't get it done.
IMO when they were doing the episodes looking for the next manager on the Office, Ray Romano would have killed it. Like absolutely killed it. His little bit about the sandwich and blowing off the interview, then regretting it afterwards. His dry humor would have been awesome in that spot.
Early Andy sucked. He really hit a groove in like season 5-7 and was good. Then when he was the boss and went off on the boat...just got stupid again.
It's like the difference between a submarine and any other ship.

Speaking of the upcoming season, does anyone know when tickets will be sent? Haven't bought tickets since 2018 and now they are all mobile delivery so not sure how this process works.
Mine arrived in the app about a week or so ago
Haven't received mine yet so I called the ticket office.
I was told that tickets should be delivered by the end of next week. He said something about some tickets being sent out as a test but they can't be transferred yet. Not sure what that's all about.
My app is empty as well.

LOL. Seriously. If we lose to Duke, UNC, Louisville, Cuse, ND in hoops? Well hell, tip it up again and get better. That's life against legit hoops programs. Lose to a throw away annoying program at a football school with a low budget coach in important games in March? kill me. can't stand that effing program.

I have no expectations related to wins and losses this season. I'm just looking forward to seeing football players doing football things for the first time in a while.
My expectations: Play a clean game against ODU. A clean game- no dumb fucking penalties. A backup QB that can call a play if needed. Defensive backs within the zip code of receivers. Play a clean game- all I ask. Do that, you beat those fucking minor league chumps. Then move on to better things. Get better every week. Play physical. Don't try to ice a college kicker that will never in a million fucking years hit a 54 yard outdoor FG. Baby steps.
I believe Pry can do this. I really, REALLY hope so.
Agree. I don't know if we will win, but i DO KNOW that ODU is not going to pass the ball down the field undefended all day like 7 on 7. I do know that.
Despite our roster not being a strong P5 roster yet, we still have to be more talented than ODU across the board. We have a staff that knows how to win. I think we destroy ODU.
We had NFL draft picks on the field when they kicked our asses all day the last time we played there.
We had a HS JV staff coaching them and drawing up the game plan then changing it Saturday morning.
Exactly. Good coaching hides flaws while bad coaching hides talent.

Absolutely love it. Seems like everyone has really bought in and embraced Pry and his staff. When you have a well-coached team who will run through a wall for their coaches and vice versa, good things should happen.

With all of his concussion trouble I wish he'd hang it up. That does not bode well for future mental or physical health. And it's not like he will be playing in the NFL.
In the AMA, Michael called the injury in the B12 title game a shoulder stinger. Didn't look like a stinger. Not sure if he's had other injuries or concussions after that one.
Other than injury and not knowing who Liberty would play instead, not sure his play at his tail end of being at Baylor or last year at Utah would fill me with dread
Plus if this is your third team in so many years what does that tell you.
Of course on the other hand, we do have a history of making a QB who is in his first start or the backup who just got there look like he should be a Heisman hopeful.

Scrimmage highlights from yesterday on VT Fb twitter. Some take aways:
-Jayden McDonald absolutely laid out Drake Deiuliis in the last clip.
-Kaleb Smith had a great TD grab.
-Lofton shown getting the ball a couple of times.
-Devin Farrell shown throwing the ball to Chance Black. Overthinking time: Chance is 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart with Thomas and Holston out (should go King, Black/Duke, Christian). Does that mean Farrell has already passed Tajh Bullock on the depth chart? Could be a ton of other reasons but fun to speculate
Feels like we've heard absolutely nothing about Tajh this season - like, I forgot he was on the team. Not sure If I've just missed it, or if he's not progressing well, or what
Pry and the staff have mentioned him and Devin pretty evenly. Both are young and will take turns as scout team QB to get those live speed reps. It will be more interesting next year when Brown is gone and we need a new back up who emerges.
The exciting thing is we have a QB coach who has a few decades in the business helping them.
Is he a QB whisperer though?
Devin Farrell is legit. He will play this season, if possible.
Tajh, I was hoping he'd have the offense down under the previous staff. He's learning a new one now, so I'm labeling him as a project. There are some practice vids on Twitter showing him throw some nice passes, so he's capable.

I loved how he played in the spring game, and his high school tape. Hate using height as a metric but unfortunately we've seen so many QB's of his height fail in college. Hope he's a Russell Wilson or Manziel rather than a Brewer or Burmeister

I'll even venture to say Pry will play Farrell as an athlete if need be to get him on the field.

Really sucks, especially coming off his previous knee injury. However if there's one position we could take a hit, TE is it with Gallo, Deuliis, Blumrick, HSG, Wright also there. Hope he heals up and is ready to go next spring.

Shoresy, spin off of Letterkenny. Both are on Hulu and fantastic.
The cast of former hockey players they got is amazing. My favorite is Terry Ryan. Such a beauty. He plays Hitch. His whole name is Ted Hitchcock but if you say it real fast it sounds like teninchcock.
I really think that Shorsey an evolutionary step forward from letterkenny. I can't wait for the next season
I thought Letterkenny got stale in season 9 (haven't gotten to season 10 yet, but I will watch it soon to see if they rebounded). I'm glad Shoresy is here to be a new creative outlet for the writers
I found season 10 to be somewhat of a return to form.
Season 9 had strong opening and closing episodes, with a whole lot of unfocused meandering in between. I'm willing to chalk that up to Covid difficulties.
Cosigned on Shoresy, it's great and manages to be so in a completely different way than its parent show
Letterkenny did get stale any time it wasn't pushing plot lines forward. They'd kill giant chunks of time with the rhyming gags and it got old in Season 9.
Um, I just saw a Lane Stadium/VT football commercial in the middle of sports center this morning! I have NEVER seen a VT commercial outside of our game time slots. Especially not a VT football one. It talked/showed how Lane Stadium is still the scariest place to play in football. Not gonna lie it got my amped big time. Sorry but I couldn't find a video out there to share and was in too much awe to pull out my phone to record.
Edit: and to clarify this was NOT an ESPN commercial for a specific game we are going to play. It was for VT Football, paid for by VT. Is this some of the new donor money being spent to up our profile?

Boosters tried to railroad Harsin after last season. I know I'm not in that realm, but personally dealing with VT boosters (or lack thereof) has to be a lot easier than trying to deal with the Auburn boosters and the expectations of trying to get someone that will beat Bama every year.
There are almost 130 FBS schools with boosters easier to deal with than Auburn
To step into Auburn as AD, I would want a bigger buyout than the football coach. They are insane there.
